There are so many fascinating, inspiring, well-versed TED talks.
This is not one of them.

Not to detract from her point but we do not put men first in English because of some misogynistic bias. We do it because in English it is more natural to order pairs from least syllables to most. Most male nouns have less syllables than their female counterparts. One exception is "ladies and gentlemen" which puts the female noun first for this reason.

That’s victim complex anti-patriarchal narrative for ya. It superseded one’s ability for basic critical thought.

I’m sorry but pointing out “we say ‘men and women’ or ‘husband and wife’ rather than the other way around” as evidence of bias but then not admitting that it’s always “moms and dads” or “mothers and fathers” and “ladies and gentleman” every time is dishonest

I will always say Ladies & Gentleman. If a transwoman and transman is in the audience, they should just play along in their head about which they want. Done and done. As for non-binary? Ah, I don’t have the time to pluck every made-up pronoun in an announcement. Life’s tough.

I love hearing about inclusive language from her perspective. And as a native Vietnamese speaker, to address an audience in English on a topic that many still find controversial - well done!

She is completely right, all I see in the comments are people who are born speaking English judging her because of the way she speaks, try to think about what she is saying before your preconceptions show up, Americans are so self centered that when someone judge your way of living you attack her. And stop the lgbtq fobia here too ...

She's not right. At all. She's proselytizing her little cult and baseless ideology. What's she's talking about is the "New Speak" they warned us about in 1984. Why bother providing evidence or clarity when you can just corrupt the language itself?? Reality be damned!

You cannot force people to think and speak differently ("inclusively") while maintaining democracy.
    End od discussion.

You are forced to watch a random video on the interwebs? This is a video for folks who desire to learn more about their usage of language to be more inclusive with the folks around them. No, no one can force you to learn. No, no one can force you to care about other people's experiences. That's a choice for you. You are choosing to be closed and exclusive.

Easier in Welsh, "Siwmae pawb!" - "Hello everyone". Trouble though is most nouns are male / female eg "athro" - "male teacher", "athrowes" - "female teacher". There is no word (yet) for just "teacher"

The radical leftists don’t consider striving for true balance. They just want the scales tipped fully their way, and ignore any collateral along the course. That’s a trend for ya. Full force fad. And how being a part of a group makes you feel justified in pressing forward in that approach.
