    I finally got an 11.271 @ 121.79 mph with my 2022 Model 3 Performance. Changing out the wheels to 18” T Sportline wheels and Michelin PS4S tires really helped. However, fully preconditioning helped even more. I was able to make a pass at 459 KW for “Max Discharge” and that really increased my top end power. Here is a video about how I did it.

      Useless, as those are all aluminium parts. You could do the thrunk lid in carbon fiber, as this is out of steel. But better to begin with wheels, brakes and seats.

    Good talk mark. I'm #5 in your vid at 11.33 with the Ghost mod and lovin it. I did pretty much all the normal weight reductions you mentioned without heavy spending for small returns on investment. So basically I did MPP front rotors, 19 lb TSW wheels, PS4S tires and MPP lightweight 12v battery, along with taking the back seats out and floor mats. I haven't been able to beat that time since and likely with close to 19% battery degradation and 82k miles I won't be coming close to that again without fully gutting. Luckily the track I used to go to had Tesla destination chargers on site so that helped ensure max SoC on my runs. There are also MPP rear rotors now for about a grand. And UPP also sells a carbon fiber trunk lid which shaves off another 20 pounds but at $2200 before installation that's a pretty penny for a small gain. I'm hoping Tesla does a more powerful Performance 3 in the not too distant future (hello Highland) and I'd most definitely consider jumping on that. I will say the P4S4's did not last long - only about a year, so I switched back to the stock Michelins and it's been fine other than not being quite as grippy around the curves.

    • @mmark300
      @mmark300  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if I remember right, I think I first heard of the ghost from you!
      19% degradation? What are you using to measure that?
      Yeah, some of the other lightweight mods are tempting, but so expensive!
      I have new wheels & tires that I'll be testing soon, but they are about the same weight as the stock 18's so it's more about the tires. I wanted lighter wheels but they were either too expensive or I didn't care for the style...

    Great video Mark, thanks for the breakdown. When you can't add power, adding lightness is the next best thing indeed.
    Happy you did the details on rotational mass correctly - lots of false info there (from 2x to 10x savings which isn't accurate)
    The lightest wheels I've been able to find would be forged magnesium. 16.5lbs for a 19 inch set costing around 8k. Idk if it's worth it but they exist.

    • @LearningFast
      @LearningFast 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mmark300 yes that is accurate. Both the 2021 and my 2022 Performance 3s are slower than previous models because we have the 20 inch Uberturbine wheels. The 2021 and 2022 models are identical so far. The ones coming out of the factory now have a lighter low voltage battery but that won’t make much difference.
