“I’m after my first year of college” 👁👄👁that’s my face when someone very young has success in her life and I’m still at home reading books and watching dramas waiting for something to happen in my life
lol broke college student meeee! your editing is on point omg, also gnomeo and juliet I’m dying. I can’t watch the spoilery section but love this video! the themes you discussed that are presented are so important and I’d like to pick it up when I can
omg I just saw your first video and I can’t believe a literal English literature student just saw me admit that I only ever watched gnomeo and Juliet 😦😦 lol
In my opinion I really liked how it wasn’t directly a Romeo and Juliet story but she still made some really good allusion to the original plot of play , (spoiler) like Paul was loosely modeled after Paris, and her cousin Tyler as Tybalt (idk if I spelled that wrong) and then Roma and all of them fights at the end was similar to the near end of Romeo and Juliet when Romeo I think killed tybolt and has to be sent away, in these violent delights him being sent away is him catching the madness. The other reference to the original play that I really enjoyed was the doctor that the white flowers used for the drug research was modeled than after friar Lawrence. me being the blonde I am didn’t realize that until like halfway through the second encounter and was like holy crap that’s supposed to be fryer Lawrence and i totally fangirled Idk I liked how she play with it and replaced The nurse role sort of character with Rosland and Katherine adding to the importance of familial ties in the scarlet gang. I also enjoyed her it wasn’t exactly like Romeo and Juliet because she had a lot of room to play with and develop the plots you were talking about with the monster and the madness and I think that really made it stand out with other re-telling of it.
Off Topic, but GUYS. Watch the Romeo and Juliet Anime. When I tell you, this was so amazing I couldn't get over it. I'M BEING SERIOUS. I cried a river. (It's kind of old so the only way to watch it is on illegal anime stream websites, because you rarely find it anywhere. whoops)
ok so, i’ve been doing a bunch of research, and i own both of these books, but i’m really torn of which to read to get my out of a slump, im stuck between the cruel prince and these violent delights and i just don’t know 😭😭
it is revealed in the sequel. I didn't expected at all in first book. in the sequel, it gives some clues of who the traitor is, but still a bit shocking to me
I feel like I would just love this book but I know it can get quite violent, would you say those scenes are slow and torturous violent scenes or are they fairly quick? I can handle violence I just have a hard time stomaching torture. thx so much!
Hi! Thanks for watching! I’m sorry, I can’t think of any off the top of my head BUT I’m reminded of a book called Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo! It takes place in 1950s San Francisco following Asian American leads and a sapphic romance ☺️ hope that helps!!
@@sunnykimreads I have seen many positive reviews on this book. It looks really interesting. I will check it out. Thanks for the reply, I'm subscribing! Sorry for my English 😅
I'm finally watching this video after hearing you recommend it in your tiktok video. I'm an actor and R+J is my favorite of Daddy Shakes's (don't come for me, Hamlet Hoes) so I was freaking STOKED about this book and the squeakquel. I really dug that it wasn't an exact retelling because this story has been told a billion times so I appreciated the interpretations. Also if you're a Shakespeare gorl, there are some great juicy little snippets that are directly from the play. Love those easter eggs. Though for a Shakespeare story, I personally felt it was kind of light on the romance. SPOILERS: I thought it was a little bit weak sauce to not kill many main characters. Of course we love Mars, Mercutio is everyone's fav, that's just how it's gonna be, but that's why it hurts so good when he dies. And the down low romance between him and Benedict was beautiful and would've made it even more emotional if he actually died. I loved that Juliette was straight up lethal and that bodies were dropping left and right from beginning to end. I think that raised the stakes of the story and made sense for a young woman who needed to prove herself to her family.

Hi !! Do you have other books where the story takes place in Asia? If possible with an LGBT romance.
