I still prefer the smaller version tho, but a lot of people love the new version!

This is frankly the BEST utility knife ever made. You get access to the ENTIRE blade, awesome grip, great lock, perfect texture on the handle, excellent deep pocket clip. My hands are smaller so the handle is fine for me. I bought 2 just in case I ever lose one.

  • @ParkerBinion

They just improved it, adding a locking 4mm driver on the back end extending the handle by about an inch. It's called the U1 Pro and it also comes with a little blade change tool that you can store with your spare blades.
This upgraded model is the best EDC utility knife ever made. You get access to 85%+ of the blade, a great lock, perfect texturing and contour on the handle (no sharp edges), excellent deep pocket clip, smooth/drop shut action and zero blade play.
The Fastback has more features, but weighs nearly twice as much. I have both, and I carry the U1 Pro. Olight makes some Opry models with storage for more double-sided 4mm bits. These pry bars pair well with the U1 Pro.

It won’t replace my fastback for work but it’s in my fifth pocket everyday and has done massive amounts of cutting . Miles of cardboard and shrink wrap alone . It’s definitely a handy little tool especially when I leave the fastback on my forklift.

I understand and appreciate the purpose of the TSA. That being said, last time I flew, I had my knipex cobra xs pliers and one of my work pro folding utility knives confiscated. But only going through security when flying back home. I went through security no problem leaving my home city. So it seems it's not a policy change. it really depends on the TSA staff to decide.

i bought the 9tiedc g10 utility knife from amazon right before the oknife came out. im not sure who had the design first but both of them are nearly identical. i like it but its a little smaller than id like it to be in hand. but what kills me the most in folding utility knives is the lack of tip up deep cary clips. it bothers me so much. These are sort of filling the hole for me there. i have the work pro and i like it slightly better for the screw less blade swap. i almost bought the nuknives kumpanter utility knife recently and probably would have if it had a button lock or axis style lock. seems like it would be the best one yet. im still on my search for the perfect utility knife. and if the civivi elementum utility ever releases it may be that one

As an overnight shelf stocker at a supermarket, this tool is my bread & butter since razor blades are the best tape tool. They cut (tape) even when dull because of geometry, infinitely.
This tool should be your EDC tape tool. Your normal knives should be specific to other roles. Put a lanyard on it that accommodates your hand, (Dremel down the back spacer to remove the blade wrap. You should hear metal contact on open & close.) and you will likely need some pliers &/or vibratite to keep the blade screw where it belongs. Having a dedicated, slim tape tool is worth the small fixes.
I would advise you to vibratite all screws because Olight will want you to send your knife in for inspection, which is obviously not worth doing when it's a $25 tool.

When you have a knife that's made of a steel that rusts and you're in the woods for an extended amount of time, say a month, and you didn't bring anything to treat your knife to keep it from rusting. Do you know of any natural oil source or lubricant found in the wild that you can use to treat your knife?

G'day Aaron, wow weren't you mature looking back in the day, lol.
To be honest I've got knives everywhere so I dont often use a boxcutter these days, though they do make especially good cable strippers.
I really like the idea of the little folders in an EDC or bugout bag ..... and residing within a FAK in particular.
With this one, the extra blade length can certainly be considered a pro, though you wear the whole length out in one go. i.e. as opposed to spinning it around to start again. Also, (not so bad in a bag or kit), but there's no spare blade storage. I'm sure you remember the ol' Stanley jobs with several blades in the handle. If you're gonna have disposable blades at all, surely replacements, in some way, need to be close at hand.
    Cheers Duke.
