Absolutely yes. You will know that it is good driving practice to take up a dominant position to make clear your intent in exactly this situation when driving a car. Getting out early when there are parked cars on both sides of the road allows you to both see further ahead and conveys your intent to move ahead. It is always a dialogue of course and anyone should be prepared to cede way to others if the situation dictates but it has been very well established that timid cyclists who 'hide' at the edges of the road are far more likely to experience close passes than those like me who cycle in the middle of the lane until I consider it safe to move over to allow vehicles to pass by at a time and place of my choice. This is just as true for oncoming vehicles in narrow gaps as it is for overtaking vehicles. And the Highway Code (Rule 67) appears to support the view that taking a dominant position to allow for moving either left or right to avoid danger is the correct course of action: "Watch out for obstructions in the road, such as drains, service covers and potholes, positioning yourself so you can move to the left (as well as to the right) to avoid them safely Take care when passing parked vehicles, leaving enough room (a door’s width or 1 metre) to avoid being hit if a car door is opened, and watch out for pedestrians stepping into your path" The chap in this video who you praise is in my opinion cycling dangerously. If there is more than six inches between his left hand and the door mirror of the blue and white cars I would be very surprised. Much, much too close. If, instead of you there had been a bully in a van or wide 4x4 such as in the following clip, he would have been waving his hand in anger rather than gratitude.
@Davy Anthonissen As a Belgian, I feel I need to ask, since I have trouble parsing what you're trying to say. What are you talking about in your second paragraph???
@Davy Anthonissen I am thinking that any driver that tries to report other bad drivers of lorries, the person i.e. office person, that receives the report/videos only discards them and never does anything about the driver.
Quick Q - is it safe/considerate for me to coast behind a HGV at a safe distance, who's max speed is 60 mph, (excluding when other junctions are merging onto mw where I'll go into middle lane) in lefthand lane instead of trying to maintain 70 and overtaking slower HGVs? I'm unsure whether 60mph is too slow and affects the flow of traffic. I've picked up some really useful stuff on here - thank you.
That's a joke right, they'd all fail with First Class Honours. Taxis (and particularly minicabs) just do what they want and with nay a care in the world.
@BadDriversOfTennessee I had it today in my tesco van, needed more space to make turn so I did as the car was a while away, he then raced up and upon passing me just fine, he got onto the horn. I was very near the kerb on the other side. Sometimes I just wonder
There's a new version of the Highway Code, you know. It now states that when a hazard is observed, the correct course of action is to aggressively accelerate directly towards the hazard whilst producing a sustained blast on the horn. Now that we've left the EU we can even do away with those pesky automotive standards and just wire the horn to the accelerator.
@@ilikechickensausages2075 dashcam lessons could do the same. Full of ego dashcam warriors who seem they will not back down even if it ends in a collision or sit on the horn for a min
I can beat that Lol! I slowed to turn right, major to minor, the guy behind also indicating to go right, accelerated past me to cut the corner and get in front😳
11:19 I'm with you Ashley, littering really, REALLY grinds my gears! There is absolutely no need for it, we are all gifted a wheelie bin by our respective local councils, so just save your rubbish until you get home and pop it in the appropriate bin, simple really! 👍🏽
The thing is, that litter they've just thrown out is being conveniently carried around for them by their car! No effort involved in carrying the stuff home!
Such utterly entitled inconsiderate behaviour cooks my clutch too. They should be made to do litter picking like we had at our school. They could don an orange suit for good measure. What's wrong with a little bin bag in the car? I hope that number plate got reported, although I suppose the driver will claim they had no power over the pedestrian.
Ironically some of the worst drivers on the roads are professional drivers - i.e. taxi drivers......cut corners, rarely indicate, inconsistent braking, wander in & out of lanes whilst they mess with phones or satnav, drive incredibly slow sometimes, then too fast others, suddenly stop without indicating, often don't check their blind spots and just pull out on you.
As I’m now 60 my driving and motorcycling is far more relaxed and I feel much calmer when I reach my destination my attitude is if people are in a hurry that much then let them crack on
I passed over 12 years ago. Since watching Ashley's videos my driving and attitude to driving has improved. Always learn something watching these videos
I used to be a driving instructor and passed my Advanced test at 21. Driving now for 42 years and still learning! You could drive for 100 years and still learn!
What really annoys me about modern driving is - in a line of free-moving traffic, the guy in front keeps tapping his brakes to control the speed, rather than take his boot off the go pedal - so the whole line behind him end up yoyoing, but if I drop back to make my life easier, some nut overtakes and shoves in to the space I just made!
Sometimes it's people using cruise control, getting too close and just touching the brake to disable it. But I think it's always important to keep at least two or three seconds back, sure there will be drivers overtaking and filling the space , but the gap is more important and in the end doesn't cost many seconds.
@@grahambonner508 - sometimes, yes, rather than adjust the control setting, but I'm referring to the ones who brake every 100 yards or so - repeatedly!
One of Ash's viewers sent in a video were a cyclist was coming down a hill in the wet. Forgetting bikes can't break as fast as a car the driver pulled out and immediately stopped, stealing the bike's breaking distance. By the time the rear dash cam was pointing up the road the bike back wheel was already skidding. He hit the back of the car at about 2mph.
Ashley I've been driving over 50 years but have learned so much from your videos, thanks very much. I've also shared them to my two sons and they are very appreciative of your teaching and wisdom.

I'm consistently dismayed by the number of people who seem to think they'll use up all their steering on bends, junctions, or roundabouts. It's OK to steer enough to stay in lane. Always hang back from those straightening the road out.
@@zaixai9441 I admittedly often straight line roundabouts, primarily for fuel economy/efficiency - but have not once, ever, cut someone up or made anyone brake or inconvenienced anyone......I'm always aware of what is around me and only straight line it when nothing is near me (or will/could be near me at any point)....it takes a lot of awareness and experience, having track experience helps a lot.
@@zaixai9441 Combined with other measures it all adds up and can make a difference, quite simply you are taking the shortest route through and most of the time I do it I'm also slowing down/braking less (again when conditions are suitable) - although as said it takes good judgement and skill to do it in a safe manner, it can't be done for every roundabout and I tend to do it only when I have good view of all exits / entrances and/or I know the road/roundabout well.
@@yorkshirethegreat i agree, he comes across as self righteous; it reminds me of an instructor when i was learning -- ie - blame everyone else; it becomes repetitive
In Germany they used to call the merge in turn the "Reissversclussmethode" literally "zip fastener method" it makes sense when you look at a zip and how it closes.
Problem is, there are too many thick and ignorant people in the UK and no police to enforce the law. Of the UK population, half are below average intelligence
In The Netherlands it is called "Ritsen" (using a zipper). I find merge in turn confusing since where I am it is predominantly used with a sign at the start of a bend/turn and the lane disappearing at the end of it.
I’m so impressed how calm you remain in all of the situations, and even inject some humour into it. It’s perfect role modelling and makes me react calmer in similar situations when I’m driving. Thank you Ashley! I always learn so much watching your channel
Hey Ashley, love your videos. Would really appreciate an entry in your "How to Drive like a Driving Instructor" video on driving through unknown areas/roads specifically, as that's what I (and I imagine some other drivers) find most daunting - how to make unplanned decisions on lane selection, how best to use the satnav to inform your short-term planning and anticipation, etc. Cheers!
13:00 the corner-cutters in Liverpool seem to be getting worse lately. Some of them actually look at you as if to say "why are you blocking my path when you knew I wanted to cut that corner" 😤
It's spread to Southport too. I was driving my bus in service to Crossens. Coming up towards the end of service and a BMW (surprise, surprise) cut the corner and nearly smacked the front end of my bus. Best bit was that there were dents all over the front of the car which told me they'd done it before and damaged it as a result. Clearly hadn't learned a thing.
Clip 9, as an HGV driver, I’m Very mindful of learners, their inexperience and that my truck may cause them considerable anxiety, (I have taught some anxious relatives, & I believe one of Yours was seriously nervous, and moved south), so would Not have done that unless there was Ample space for me to keep well left. That trucker seemed to cut the corner a little
Just don't rise to it, let the idiots be on there way. You are not going to change their habits, so why stress over it. We always play the spot the idiot so we can keep our their way.
@@EOTBuk Oh I dunno about not changing their habits, i once saw a van driver (who wasn’t the one doing something wrong for a change) and the driver of a C class merc have an interaction which I’m certain would have made the merc driver think twice next time lol.
I saw the kids on electric bikes, have to admit, if we had these when I was young, possibly being doing the same... Although as the wife reminded me it was much safer with all the horse and carts around...
I keep saying: on a bicycle you get to be either a wheeled pedestrian, staying on the pavement and fitting in with foot traffic, or a road vehicle, obeying the rules of the road. Those kids seemed to be in "superpowered pedestrian" mode but with absolutely no consideration for *either* set of rules. And I have a sneaky feeling those should actually be classified as trail motorbikes, not bicycles. They just lack the usual sound of an inadequately silenced two-stroke.
@BadDriversOfTennessee Those in the footage were not road legal, e-bikes are limited to 15.5mph assist speed, and have to be pedal assist (no throttle) to comply, catching them is another issue...
@@Kromaatikse A guy I work with has one. It's got a fast mode and a 'legal' mode that restricts it to 16mph or whatever. And dummy pedals of course. So he flies along the cycle path at 50mph, and flips it into 'legal' mode if he catches sight of any authorities 🤦♂️ Those lads ones don't look as powerful, but enough torque to pull a wheelie and pulling 20mph is registered vehicle territory.
At 5:06, “Here’s some good cycling in this clip”. Considerate, maybe, but once he established you were waiting, for his own safety he should have positioned himself further away from those car doors.
@@ashley_neal because if he was further out he would see pedestrians earlier and have more time and space to react to someone between the cars. That clip made me very uncomfortable, particularly when you encouraged people to ride like that.
@@ashley_neal No particular reason Ashley. I agree that they are just as relevant to safety but as mentioned elsewhere, a wider position aids in spotting and avoiding that too.
That junction at 8:52 every time I go straight on there from the correct lane, I often think they've changed the right lane to go straight on too because almost everyone seems to do it, every time I'm there.
I take my Hat off to you Ash. I've been driving nearly 30 years and I encounter these type of self entitled, inconsiderate and sometimes outright dangerous drivers daily however my patience is very short when it comes to the type of aforementioned "styles" of driving which Is why I commend you on yours. I truly believe that the Vehicle test should include driving etiquette in the compulsory training.
If I see a learner I always give them space so not to increase the stress on them and if they are practicing a manoeuvre I will just stop at a good distance and let them finish. Life is stressful enough without adding to it
Ashely , you've had clear footage of that white vehicle 8:06 at the end mounting the pavement at speed to overtake. Did you send it to the police so they could take action? I've done so numerous times from my cycle cam or dashcam and nothing seems to have been done.
Generally, Ash doesn't send clips into the fuzz. Imagine the repercussions he and his business might suffer if he gets a reputation for submitting clips. Plus, I doubt there's enough hours in the day to upload all the bad/dangerous clips he records

1:42 personally I wouldn't filter here. Traffic is still moving, however I would position myself in the right of my lane close to the center line. This is because if someone isn't paying attention, I can see them in my mirrors & filter if I wanted to, making an easy escape for me. I'd also crate space between myself & the cars in front. Nothing wrong with filtering, just knowing the risk vs non ricks are key. Filtering while a car wants to change lines, while the lane is clear in his path. Clearly shows something up ahead is blocking that lane & you should move into the right lane & let him in front. Just my thoughts on this tho at a dayly motorbike rider.
Ashley, you will never run out of ‘Clips’ for your Driving Fails in this area. I have driven in well over 20 countries, some extensively, and almost every county in the UK but after moving to Southport seven years ago I quickly found that here and Liverpool had the worst drivers that I have ever encountered. I literally can’t drive 500 meters without seeing appalling, inconsiderate and dangerous driving. Keep up the good work and hopefully you will have one or two converts.
this isn't a criticism but I'm amazed you didn't brake at 4:17. If I was driving and I spotted that in my mirrors (or blind spot) I'd be spooked AF and likely stop, particularly as it is a right turn and the bike shows clear intention to overtake or at least sit in the blind spot.
One of the difficult things about the rear view camera is that is shows direct view not mirror image. When learners see this and then look into a driving mirror I think confusion on which side a vehicle is overtaking will occur.
That littering clip was ridiculous. I'm as car proud as the next person when it comes to keeping it clean and litter-free, but I've come up with an ingenious way of doing it without throwing it out of the window. I don't want to brag, but I have a bin at home, and what I do (this is complicated so you may want to take notes) is I take the litter from my car when I get home and I put it in the bin! No need to thank me.
Clip 18: The littering white BMW. I saw a passenger throwing a glass bottle from a car in Leeds, the bottle smashed in the path. I contacted Leeds city council and sent the video and the council prosecuted the driver......the car was also a BMW lol
Yes, good point, do not wait and merge for road works or recovery vehicles, police cars etc. Basically - the sooner we are out of the lane, the sooner drivers behind can see them. Workers are very vulnerable at the side of the motorway.
optimally, drivers would space themselves appropriately as they approached the problem, and then merge in the last hundred feet before the cones. otherwise you get people jumping queue and saying "but I'm merging in turn" which turns the whole thing into a shoving match. really, I'd like to see no overtaking zones the last hundred yards before every merge.
Interesting, the way you have your driver enter the intersection in clip 11 (7:10) would be illegal in Australia, although many do it anyway. Whilst perfectly legal to enter the intersection, you shouldn't turn your wheel until you are able to safely progress through the intersection. It prevents the case where you get rear ended, and pushed directly into oncoming traffic.
That first clip from Ashley - with idiots like that - i'd rather them be in front of me where I can keep an eye on them and they can't cause me any more risks.
@@RichO1701e _instead of keeping an eye on them in the mirrors_ Your mirrors won't stop them rear ending you or clipping you when they try to dash past. If they are in front of me I don't have that risk. That was my point that you so perfectly missed with your rather snide comment. You are the sort of person I prefer in front of me so I can keep an eye on. Have a great day.
I'd love for them to bring in an anti-littering law which is pertinent to the driver of the vehicle. 6 points and a fine for any driver of a vehicle guilty of littering would be nice, deterrent to anyone driving a passenger who thinks that is acceptable. The idiots at 11:06 deserve comeuppance for that.
there’s a road near where i live where pretty much everyone does this, the difference is, you’re going up a hill towards it so you can’t see cars coming from the left at all until it’s too late, it’s not busy at all so accidents don’t happen much, but when there is, you can pretty much guarantee it was because of that and the person going up the hill didn’t know of the danger
As a motorcyclist, I cannot imagine why anyone would purposefully filter past a car that is signalling a lane change. I get it, we're fast and extremely nimble so it is tempting to just quickly dart past... But I'd rather ride away unscathed and lose not even a few seconds of my time than to purposefully put myself at even higher risk. 8:03 My god, that is appalling!! What if a kid had walked out from behind any of those walls? Jeez.
Bully emerges as you call them are something that happens all the time to me. Sometimes I understand why if it's busy but other times it's just pure impatience and trying to be waiting next red light a little longer.
Great compilation, Ashley. Do you ever send any of this footage to the police? I once caught on camera a guy purposefully going through a huge puddle to soak a pedestrian. I sent the footage to the police as it was out of order and they replied that it was enough to prosecute. I'd say driving on the pavement in the way the Focus did would warrant a police investigation. That is incredibly dangerous.
I don't know if it's the same for all areas of the country but Hampshire police stipulate that any footage submitted to them can't have been shared on social media or be on any video sites.
@@MrTone71 That was mentioned when I uploaded mine to the local police force. But it did say once the case was dealt with you could. I understand this would affect Ashley's content though.

When approaching a t -junction almost every driver will cut across on the wrong side of the road. If you don't stop short they will hit your car! They blame you being in their way!
I witnessed a collision like this where the guilty party didn't stop. I was following her round the corner so I thought I'd chase her and get her number, but I was then overtaken by the car she had clipped going backwards flat-out. I'm not sure which was the worst driver!
On Clip 8, I’d like clarification as to why the driver was encouraged to creep forward when there was a high possibility that the lorry would ‘straight line’ the roundabout - which it did.
@4:46 nice for the 2nd cyclist to say thanks, but both bad cycling in my book. Poor overtaking by the first cyclist and poor road position by the second, far too close to the parked cars and right in the door zone. Passing parked cars is an interesting one. Being slower on a bike, I often start passing a line of cars when it's clear, only for a car to appear coming the other way. Some drivers seem to think that they have priority just because the cars are on my side of the road and literally drive at me! Fact is, rule 163 only requires you to give way BEFORE you begin your overtake. Once overtaking, the situation just becomes the same as a singletrack country road. They should wait for me to pass the line or at a gap where I can pull into.
0:33 defensive driving.... always submit. Don't get into the situations, and if they happen, back off. More people need to be more courteous on the road, but they're not.... And a defensive driving course always shocks the people who think it's going to be offensive or advanced driver course for stuntmen or military/police drivers.
With the bad driver at 8:06, the police should take out some unmarked police cars and add a learner box to the roof to try and stop these types of bad road user's.
Clip 14, we have careless people on electric scooters, someone was coming down a main road on the path, and crossed the minor road without even looking! I don't think anyone would've stopped in time thankfully there was no cars that time!
I was travelling on the A56 earlier in a work van. I was moving at around 59/60mph. planning to overtake a minibus. As soon as I moved out to overtake, a burgundy vauxhall came steaming up behind me and was glued to my back bumper during the time I spend in lane 2, flashing his headlights, being dangerously close to me (being in a van - there was no chance this guy was able to see ahead). Once I completed my manouver, I moved back to lane 1 and low and behold, it was a Delta private hire driver.

There are still some issues with helmetless, unregistered riders doing footpath racing but even so well done Kent Police Constabulary. It's amazing what happens when you make an effort! 👍

1:00 Picking up and delivering children at school is child abuse! The greatest danger pupils have as they travel to school is other parents, parents who, in the fight to get *their* kids as close as possible to their class room, are more than willing to hit, drive down, and over, any child that comes in their way. Driving kids to and from school should be a crime!
I drive a little white box on wheels and I have the problem that I have tailgaters behind me every time I drive my car. They leave no more than 5 m of safety distance even at 80 km/h on the country road. When I'm approaching a traffic jam, I even switch on the warning lights on the country road because I can't decelerate without them hitting me. I try to let people pass when I have the opportunity, but why do people feel so offended by my box. In the big driving school car (Peugeot 5008) people kept their distance.
Don’t know how you have the patience to work on the roads day after day and put up with the countless idiots and scumbags. Thank god I only work locally and drive as little as possible. As a teenager I loved driving now I hate it.
As with the previous replies, such things are covered by generic offences, with the point to prove being, would that standard fall below that of a careful & considerate driver. Saves having 5,000 separate offences. For dangerous driving it would be far below
I stopped being an driver instructor in 2012. I just couldn't take the aggressive behaviour of some other drivers. One guy even got out to confront my pupil when she stalled at the lights!!! And you want to react but you can't. I was having sleepless nights.
How many times now has that junction appeared on this channel? The one with the van charging through the red light past the bin lorry? Crazy considering the corner round there is so hard to see past
Hey Ashley, I would be interested in your opinion on hazard signal use on motorways due to abrupt braking, caused by traffic jams. Here in Germany nearly everbody does and I think it helps a lot.
years ago I had the idea that with ABS controllers, there was little reason not to have the ABS controller also trigger the brake lights to flash to warn drivers behind that emergency braking was happening. now there are people who make something for the center brake light that makes it flash 5 times every time you step on the brake. I think too much of it makes it less attention getting.
1:24. Motorbike didn't filter when you complained ... they stayed in the right lane and continued as they should. They did nothing wrong. They didn't know lane 1 was blocked ahead. There are a lot of bikers that would have filtered at speed, but this one did it right.
I think the cyclist at 5:15 could do better; He needs to be out of that door zone at that speed. This being so, there isn't enough room for Ashley to come though. One could argue that the cyclist has priority since he started passing his obstruction way back but it's ambiguous, best assume no-one has priority. Not everyone is Ashley though and some will try and 'thread the needle'. Take command of the duration by anticipating and taking primary before this situation.
@@ashley_neal There's obstructions on both sides of the road, I think best to take it as no-one has priority. Taking command doesn't mean you take primary position and barge through, it means you take primary and assess options. It means you can do several different things, a) slow/stop and let oncoming traffic proceed b) slow right down and enter the door zone c) proceed having been given priority
Interestingly if I was coming the other way on a bike my first thought would be to ceed priority as there are plenty of spaces for me to pull in, you on the other hand are suggesting the cyclist had priority because they have started. You say it's ambiguous but you still want to take command. That make little sense!
Would taking Primary have given the correct message that you should be ceeding priority in this situation? If you are taking command in this situation your forward planning needs work. You should see that way back and give way! Don't ride into risk!!
Those ebikes are often not road legal either. There are alot of cheap ~£500 1000w ebikes on chinese retailers. To ride anything over 250w it needs to be type approved, have registration plates and needs provisional license with CBT as its classed as a moped.

Should do a series where you get in hire taxies and mark their driving as it was a test and see if they'd pass for their license or not.

11:19 I'm with you Ashley, littering really, REALLY grinds my gears! There is absolutely no need for it, we are all gifted a wheelie bin by our respective local councils, so just save your rubbish until you get home and pop it in the appropriate bin, simple really! 👍🏽
Agree Alan, clearly see the number plate so the council should have no problem prosecuting them!

Apparently if they hit you, it's your fault. Happened to someone i know
Ironically some of the worst drivers on the roads are professional drivers - i.e. taxi drivers......cut corners, rarely indicate, inconsistent braking, wander in & out of lanes whilst they mess with phones or satnav, drive incredibly slow sometimes, then too fast others, suddenly stop without indicating, often don't check their blind spots and just pull out on you.
As I’m now 60 my driving and motorcycling is far more relaxed and I feel much calmer when I reach my destination my attitude is if people are in a hurry that much then let them crack on

20 years for me. You never stop learning really!
@@hamshackleton I guess they are either way to close to the car in front or just don't know how to control their car properly.

I'm consistently dismayed by the number of people who seem to think they'll use up all their steering on bends, junctions, or roundabouts. It's OK to steer enough to stay in lane. Always hang back from those straightening the road out.
Agree, taking the path of least resistance on roundabouts (i.e. straight lining) requires a level of awareness from the driver.
@@davidsomething4867 which is why they are called roundabouts not straightabouts
@@blower1 I've not seen any tests or studies but I'd be very surprised if going straight makes any significant difference.
I can't decide what annoys me more, Focus driving up and over the kerbs with kids around, or the littering BMW 😂

They call it zip merging in USA too.
In The Netherlands it is called "Ritsen" (using a zipper). I find merge in turn confusing since where I am it is predominantly used with a sign at the start of a bend/turn and the lane disappearing at the end of it.

They do not appear to be street legal.
@@grahvis It was petrol scooters 15 years ago, and I mean the stand up ones. But they were nowhere near as common.
So he flies along the cycle path at 50mph, and flips it into 'legal' mode if he catches sight of any authorities 🤦♂️
Those lads ones don't look as powerful, but enough torque to pull a wheelie and pulling 20mph is registered vehicle territory.
At 5:06, “Here’s some good cycling in this clip”. Considerate, maybe, but once he established you were waiting, for his own safety he should have positioned himself further away from those car doors.
Why do you just focus on position for car doors width and not the fact he could stop if one opened, or more importantly if a child ran out?
@@ashley_neal because if he was further out he would see pedestrians earlier and have more time and space to react to someone between the cars. That clip made me very uncomfortable, particularly when you encouraged people to ride like that.
@@ashley_neal No particular reason Ashley. I agree that they are just as relevant to safety but as mentioned elsewhere, a wider position aids in spotting and avoiding that too.

I truly believe that the Vehicle test should include driving etiquette in the compulsory training.
If I see a learner I always give them space so not to increase the stress on them and if they are practicing a manoeuvre I will just stop at a good distance and let them finish. Life is stressful enough without adding to it
I feel like the driving test should be mandatory every 5 years, especially for people who drive for living...
Ashely , you've had clear footage of that white vehicle 8:06 at the end mounting the pavement at speed to overtake. Did you send it to the police so they could take action? I've done so numerous times from my cycle cam or dashcam and nothing seems to have been done.

You're right. No surprise that this was another brilliant video. Thanks Ashley!
Yay, thank you!

1:18 I’m a bit confused. In previous videos you said it’s important to keep the flow going, but here you stop the flow relatively unnecessarily.

That's a good option a lot of the time!

@@RichO1701e _instead of keeping an eye on them in the mirrors_

I'd love for them to bring in an anti-littering law which is pertinent to the driver of the vehicle. 6 points and a fine for any driver of a vehicle guilty of littering would be nice, deterrent to anyone driving a passenger who thinks that is acceptable. The idiots at 11:06 deserve comeuppance for that.
I think Ashley should do some merch with ‘ No surprise!’ on it with a face plant icon 😂
there’s a road near where i live where pretty much everyone does this, the difference is, you’re going up a hill towards it so you can’t see cars coming from the left at all until it’s too late, it’s not busy at all so accidents don’t happen much, but when there is, you can pretty much guarantee it was because of that and the person going up the hill didn’t know of the danger
Jeez.

It’s good to know though, because when I go Liverpool I know not to get in a Delta Taxi 😂😂
You should have got his number and given it to the taxi licensing office. It won't necessarily get him off the road first time, but constant dripping .....

In America they have something called "unsafe lane change" ? Why not in the UK ?
It's covered by careless or inconsiderate driving.
We have other legislation that would cover it from Inconsiderate Driving, Driving Without Due Care and Dangerous Driving.
As with the previous replies, such things are covered by generic offences, with the point to prove being, would that standard fall below that of a careful & considerate driver. Saves having 5,000 separate offences. For dangerous driving it would be far below
Same. I hate littering. When you are in a car too you can easily just put it down somewhere and put in bin when you have chance.
Yes, in the UK we use hazard lights to warn drivers behind us of a hazard ahead too. It's not only for illegal parking.
years ago I had the idea that with ABS controllers, there was little reason not to have the ABS controller also trigger the brake lights to flash to warn drivers behind that emergency braking was happening. now there are people who make something for the center brake light that makes it flash 5 times every time you step on the brake. I think too much of it makes it less attention getting.
That guy on the pavement clip 12. Proper shocker that is. Crazy move.
1:24. Motorbike didn't filter when you complained ... they stayed in the right lane and continued as they should. They did nothing wrong. They didn't know lane 1 was blocked ahead. There are a lot of bikers that would have filtered at speed, but this one did it right.
Out of pure curiousity at examples like 8:05 do you ever send that sort of stuff to the police or do you just get on with it?
I think the cyclist at 5:15 could do better; He needs to be out of that door zone at that speed. This being so, there isn't enough room for Ashley to come though.
One could argue that the cyclist has priority since he started passing his obstruction way back but it's ambiguous, best assume no-one has priority.
Not everyone is Ashley though and some will try and 'thread the needle'. Take command of the duration by anticipating and taking primary before this situation.
Take command when the parked cars are on your side of the road? Really?
@@ashley_neal There's obstructions on both sides of the road, I think best to take it as no-one has priority.
Taking command doesn't mean you take primary position and barge through, it means you take primary and assess options.
It means you can do several different things, a) slow/stop and let oncoming traffic proceed
b) slow right down and enter the door zone
c) proceed having been given priority
Interestingly if I was coming the other way on a bike my first thought would be to ceed priority as there are plenty of spaces for me to pull in, you on the other hand are suggesting the cyclist had priority because they have started. You say it's ambiguous but you still want to take command. That make little sense!
@@ashley_neal what does 'take command' mean to you?
Would taking Primary have given the correct message that you should be ceeding priority in this situation? If you are taking command in this situation your forward planning needs work. You should see that way back and give way! Don't ride into risk!!
Yeah, i knew straight away in clip 13 exactly what was going to happen, seen that happen loads!
I personally thought the cyclist in the second clip was placing himself at risk too…he was cycling in the door zone.
Those ebikes are often not road legal either. There are alot of cheap ~£500 1000w ebikes on chinese retailers. To ride anything over 250w it needs to be type approved, have registration plates and needs provisional license with CBT as its classed as a moped.
