was a shame this film didn't win awards for special effects.. after 28 years i think its effects hold up better than Independence day.
It's a tough choice between the two. Both have an amazing mix of CGI and practical effects.
It should have won an Oscar for its special effects. they were ahead of there time
Having recently re-watched this, all the actors are great, but I think Jami Gertz had the hardest job. She had to make Melissa the obvious "wrong" choice for Bill, but by the time she leaves she's very sympathetic and totally valid in her opinions!
I've heard people talk down on her but if you really put yourself in her shoes she is totally valid, especially having survived multiple tornadoes after being directly in their paths.
@@supraguy4694 well, especially after she hears Bill on the radio basically telling Jo that he’s right there in front of her waiting for her, just what she needs. Poor Melissa in that moment.
We loved having this cast and crew in central Iowa during the summer of 1995!! My farm is 10 miles from the final scene's farm house.
It's looks like I just need to know by side effects from movie reel life look back at movie made in real things
we? nope
@@Kyonfilmsanimations8606 You from Iowa little feller??
I saw this in the movie theater. The seats shook from the sound of special effects. It was great
RIP Bill! I hope they pay tribute in the new movie! Twister will always be a classic!
His son has a cameo and said “this one’s for dad” in an interview 😊
Marc Mancina made such a beautiful score. I love it so much.
The new 4K release looks and sounds incredible! Blew my home theater system away.
Does the new release come with the Atmos/Auro 3D track? The German Blu-ray was the top for audio for the longest time.
"He's gonna rue the day he came up against the Extreme. I'm talking imminent rue-age."
My all time favorite movie! 🎥
Do you know what time in fact new movie sounds like story life look back at July 2 twisters coming back before end of July
Loved the movie and loved the soundtrack of the movie!!!
Van Halen- Humans Being
Eddie and Alex Van Halen- Respect The Wind
Great movie with great actors and great music.
A Very interesting documentary on the movie Twister. It takes a lot for a movie to become a classic where people want to watch it over and over again. I had just watched Twister a few days before when a friend from Germany came to stay with us. I asked him if he had seen it, and he hadn’t, so I watched it again with him…he loved it! It isn’t just an exciting (albeit unbelievable) film. It has a lot of heart (think Gene Hackman’s line in the Replacements). The cast is exceptional, top to bottom, some who went on to have stellar careers. The music perfectly sets the tone and the story is specifically American as twisters don’t happen as frequently in other parts of the world. It also did for meteorology what Top Gun did for the Navy. It inspired a whole group of people to go into the field, and yes, some become storm chasers. I have a relative who gave meteorological advice to the team while they were making the film. They chuckle at the unbelievable quality of the film, but they are impressed with its longevity and how loved the film has become.
A big THANK YOU to Warner Bros for sharing this!
Practical effects and ILM back then was great. Can't wait to see what you can do now.
RIP Eddie Van Halen, who played the movie's end credits music.
Humans Being was also specifically made for this movie and not just Respect the winds.

Wow, what a cast!! I forgot how many great actors were in it.
love this movie seeing twisters today so excited doing this in memory of bill Paxton and Phillip Seymour Hoffman ❤
We miss ya, Bill!!
This was fun to see in the theater with my family. A classic to me
Same!
They filmed twister in my hometown of ponca city during my senior year
I remember as well. I rember seeing the red dodge ram parked at wonder bread store next to then jack cannon honda dealership. The cow scene was filmed at kaw dam.
RIP Bill Paxton
"I gotta go Julia we got cows" love this movie
seems like yesterday when I saw this in theaters
One of my favorite movies of all time still to this day.
My go too for wanting some comfort.
Rip Bill Paxton =61 years old
25 february 2017
Rip Philip Seymour Hoffman = 46 years old
2 February 2014
Food! Food! FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember this movie and I also remembered that this movie has to deal with one of my favorite movies The Wizard of Oz. I meant the machine that has the same name as the character Dorothy Gale.
Man, the 90s were the peak of practical effects.
Rip Bill Paxton
Just few more days til the standalone sequel or remake. OK people I know what you are thinking, can you please stop commenting whether it's a remake or standalone sequel. Jeez. I'm getting tired of this already, it's a standalone sequel because it's confirmed by the people that worked on that film okay?! Ugh. Anyways Twisters is in cinemas this July! Oh yeah, R.I.P Bill Paxton... you are an awesome actor!
My wife and I love this movie and I saw it in theater and it was very loud but awesome
According to this movie, I remembered the soda cans that were shown in the movie were original Pepsi and Diet Pepsi.
This is not the new featurette 'The Legacy of Twister'. It's the old 2008 featurette 'Chasing the Storm: Twister Revisited'. Pity. Rename it WB!
Yeah, that's weird. It'd be nice if they upload the correct featurette, especially for those who haven't purchased the 4K version yet.
Twister was released the same year that I was born, wish I had it seen in theaters though seeing it was an unforgettable experience and holds up pretty well considering it was made in the mid-1990s. As for the spin-off/remake I’m considering watching it when it comes out!
Lions and Tigers and Bears ... Oh my!!!
From Warner Bros. Pictures, Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment.
Rip mr bill paxton!
John Frazier was the special effects guy on Airplane!, Ruthless People, Hot Shots! and Spider Man
It looks very fantastic
At least for the time back then, great movie, great story, and just the right actors/actresses to fill out the parts, just right.
Not to put it down, I wouldn’t call it lightning in a bottle, but I would call it right underneath that but still a great movie.
I own it on Blu-ray, and why with anybody on here things, I’m going to try to see Twisters next weekend.
I’m not even going to compare this new one coming out to the old one, I’m just going to watch it for its own individual entertainment, which is what anyone, should do.
Wow, I never knew Bill Paxton grew up in my hometown. Now I was mostly raised in Arlington. But I was born in Fort Worth, and I've worked in Fort Worth. It's weird that I never knew that about Paxton. I need to look up what schools he went to.
Don't feel bad. I'm from Arlington, and I didn't know that about Bill, either.
@@jenx5870 Well I appreciate that. Though I don't know that "bad" is the word I would use to describe it. Just a little surprised. Did you go to school here in Arlington? If you don't mind me asking.
thank you so much for this movie to be part of my life love so mush this moves
Twister 🌪️ The Movie 1 1996 Film
Rip Bill
Great movie
FyI, this is not the new featurette exclusive to the 4K release as titled in the thumbnail... it is the legacy featurette 'Chasing The Storm from the DVD days'.
WB, is the title incorrect or the video upload??
I wonder what this movie would look in 3D?? 🤔🤔🤔
Great movie! Glad we are getting a sequel to undermine it. 😮
Check your definition for undermine.
I wish you would put closed captions in your videos for people who are hearing-impaired like me.
Thanks for this! Love bts!
2:45 😭😭😭
Yes legacy this twister with storm chaser
When was this BTS shot?
1996😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nice
Leave it to Industrial Light and Magic (basically Lucasfilm) to have to completely invent new software, to make a new movie for tornadoes.
Present 5 Hours
My thing is how do you have ALL this great insight on how to make a great movie let alone another Twister movie and you STILL mess up the new one ? lol.. future generations take notes if you plan on doing a remake of a movie or follow up movie to continue the story the least you can do is see if said movie has “behind the scenes footage” & see where they draw inspiration from for crying out loud.
Wowner bradors
I was 16 years old when this came out...
This was the year I got jumped off my bike by 2 younger kids and 2 adults who jumped in when I tried to fight back against one of the kids!
Had to ride to a "FRIENDS" house to wash off the blood and fix my handle bars!!!
[Black and White photo with Ken Burns Effect]
Twisters honored nothing about this.
😱😱😱😱😱
Lol love how this skips over all the drama that happened during production: burnt retinas, concussions, infections, crew walking off set.
People seem to have serious nostalgia goggles for this dumb movie
What's stuck in your craw?
L movie
Twister (1996) is one for my best and like tornado childhood movie of all time.Just once before Twisters (2024) hit in theaters on cinemas must two directors meet each other like Mr. Jan De Bont and Mr. Lee Isaac Chung.🫂🤝🤜🤛🌪️🌪️🌪️🌪️🌩️🌩️🛻👏👍
