As a Texan myself, this ship proudly represents my home state. She is currently in drydock. Her hull has recieved a complete overhaul including new torpedo blisters and coat of paint. Anyways, i love the video and build
I spent hours putting together the BB-63 Missouri and have been onboard on the actual ship in the 1980s when it was docked in San Francisco. Great build!
Thank you so much detail that you put into the model BB 35 . I am a proud Texan a d American and you did a fantastic job . English and an allied I enjoyed the build .
@@JohnBuilds I've been on her once in 2017 and got the opportunity to go look at her and take some pics Monday while shes in drydock even if it was from across the shipping channel, sadly I live 2 and a half hours away from both her previous berth in San Jacinto and where she's dry docked now in Galveston, absolutely beautiful ship though if you ever get the chance to visit as you mentioned #COMEONTEXAS
You do great justice to the Last Super Dreadnought. She will be going into a Dry Dock in early summer in Galveston Texas for a 35 million dollar overhaul and repair to make her look just like she looked at the Battle of Iwo Jima in February of 1945. Just like you’re Texas build looks 👍
@@JohnBuilds as a kid I spent many hours on the old girl. As a Marine she is the birth place of the 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions in February of 1941and I served in both divisions.
That is very nice. Job well done. The USS Texas is about to go into drydock in a few months. If the opportunity arises, please come to visit Texas and our battleship. I'd like to do this kit in interwar color scheme.
When I first saw this ship it looked kind of confusing, I mean, it looks like a late 19th century ship, but then you see those antennas and even a plane... and then ofcourse you realize it's an american ship.
I don't know Tamiya what did with that hull color, but the XF-9 is a chocolate brown on my model. Now i'm thinking about the solution to overpaint or remove it.
Hi John, After watching your build seeing you use CA glue for the PE parts I got some and am using while building a USS Texas. I am really struggling with applying the CA glue. What is the tool you are using in your video? It looks like a one of those small drilling tools but I can't make out what the piece is that is actually applying the glue. Is it just a nail or some other piece straight metal? And great video! I have learned tons. This is my first ship and it is kicking my but! All of the tiny PE parts are a challenge for sure. You make it look so easy.
which glue did you use for glueling the railings and all the metal details. I always have the problem that the superglue that I use takes to long time for drying. Perfect work! Greetings from Austria!
Hi again, would you please send some more specifikation - is it a Loctite product, or something similar? I use a glue „especially“ for PE parts, but i never had a chance to bend railings from one edge to the next as you did. Greetings! E Pichler
@@JohnBuilds thank you for answering was curious as I’m about to start building her and seeing you use paint brushes made me curious. Have good day sir and again thank you for answering my question
My only question is.....where did you get the kit? Texas would look so good on my shelf with Arizona, Olympia, and the 1/72 scale of my dad's sub, USS Springer SS-414.

Thank you for commenting, I’m watching her restoration closely in dry dock, the Texas is looking beautiful again
Excellent work. Thanks for sharing, I learned some new techniques.
Your welcome my friend

Beautiful job. This Texan very happy with the outcome.
Thank you roger, I’m watching her in dry dock atm, glad she’s been saved for future generations
Well done sir! Thoroughly enjoyed your build! Have to say, the size and detail of this kit is really daunting, but you aced it!
Thank you my friend
I have been on the ship twice. My great great great grandfather fought on the battle field in San junito under Sam houston.
The battleship is almost ready for re-floating, after a long repair of the hull

..nice build, but unfortunately the water pass is to low, the ship would capsized in the next storm............
Always wonderful!

Hi my friend, ye it’s on my channel 2nd aswell to try and increase the reach to a new audience
She's going to be open again the weekend of March 22. If anyone is in the Houston area, you should stop by and wish her well before she ships out.
That’s would be amazing Chris, I wish I lived closer
Is she open now or next year?
She’s is dry dock under repair for a year or so now

USS Texas indded has a lot of guns
One of the most heavily armed AA ship at that time

Hi Keith it’s very fine wire in a pin drill, and I replace the wire after 5 mins of use
You beat me on asking that. I thought it was a small drill tip.
which glue did you use for glueling the railings and all the metal details. I always have the problem that the superglue that I use takes to long time for drying.

hi my friend, I used a flexy 5k CA glue on all the PE parts

Hi, Just goggle, VMS Flexy 5k CA, and that’s the glue I use, if I sent you a link, it would just be a uk shops
What are you using to keep the glue from hardening the bristles on the paint brush?
I Only use very cheap or old brushes, that I just bin after I’ve finished

im begining to think 350 ids my scale

Hi lynn, it’s a trumpeter kit that I brought of Amazon for around £55 in 2020
@@JohnBuilds - Thanx!! I never thought of looking for models on Amazon!
Your welcome, I use Amazon all the time now
I find trumpeters pe is too thin, too fragile. a bit thicker brass would be a big help.
I totally agree
Excellent start to finish sir, wonder why plane was on a clear sprue for?
Thank you Steve. Ye it’s a strange one to have the clear plane spruce
Where do you get your models?
This is a model from trumpeter of the Texas
