This opens up a whole new world of possible shots, especially if your camera gear isn't weather-sealed. I mean, if it does underwater shoots just fine it might as well be used in heavy rain or a snow storm or something...
Saw your video too, first thing I thought of when I saw it was aww man if he made this a Month ago when Matti and Teppo was on Vacation it would have been perfect.😀😎
I shoot underwater wildlife and divers all the time in the USVI and i gotta say the comment on peak performance buoyancy is spot on. That is one class i always recommend to my students and models i work with. Love this video. Love the channel
Bro this came at the perfect moment for me! I just bought a cheap housing for my 70d! Its an old camera but with Magic Lantern raw installed on it the image quality is pretty impressive!
Omg!! This technology is EXACTLY what i wish was on the market!!! Thanks for telling us about it!!! As a carry-on only traveler I would never get a hard case for my camera, so I defaulted to GoPros. This is amazing!!
These are a good entry point to getting into the water, If you do get a dome, see if you can also order a cover for it as they scratch easily. Sometimes socks or beanie hats will work. If you've scuba before or are a comfortable swimmer, a weight belt helps get you down faster, especially in salt water, you can drop off the belt if you had an emergency. If you're in a pool, you can also find a fishtank that fits your set up, even weighing it down with a small sandbag. I recently rented a fishtanks style case from a local camera rental house ( about $180/day where I am ) that held a fx9 and anamorphic lenses. It had a proper lid that sealed and two big arms on the sides. Focus puller was still able to get a signal from the side of the pool. And the images from that combo got everyone so excited.
Wow! I'm so glad you made this vid. I've been wanting to get a water housing for my camera to shoot surf stuff and this thing looks like the best option!
To work around the depth issue - they can integrate a pressure inlet /Scuba connection fitting with check valve onto the Sealing face/screw assembly. That way a diver can slightly pressurize the internal volume to allow normal manipulation at depth. Some caveats to this - there needs to be a way to safely release air (and not allow water in) when surfacing, otherwise it would expand and explode. But this should be easy with a thumb screw relief & check valve. diver could gently squeeze the volume to expanding air out.
@Outex is great. I've been over the moon with the product since learning about them. Glad to see them getting some quality exposure on your amazing channel.
Fun fact: This is actually the one time you can use a potato while filming (literally)! Rubbing a slice of potato on the lens before going in the water will help keep the lens free of droplets while switching between shooting over/under the surface.
Mr Russel from Up, I'm finally filming my first cinematic film in August for my friend who is hoping to submit it for a film festival! I just got the script a couple days ago and as I'm essentially co-director plus DP, I've got a tonne of work to do! So hyped and like 80% of my knowledge is from you... So... If it's bad... Not my fault
Awesome man, I have one of my most loved photos taken with a shitty water case on my old 40D of me swimming butterfly on open sea... but it stopped working and was so unconfortable to use... one of my best friends took it, and now, many years later, he is more into photo than me and he has been on an apnea curse recently! We are gona have so much fun this summer with this!!
This is amazing was looking for one really affordable, saw Matti video but his was pricey but this one yeass please im getting one asap, thanks Gene and Outex
It's so important to figure out ways to differentiate yourself creatively in this industry. I actually got my PADI certification with the intention of offering underwater photography, but...after I got my license...hello worldwide pandemic!
I've thought about getting into underwater video and this is actually a pretty good price point to see if it's something I enjoy. The $60 bags scare me when thinking about putting my FX3 in. But I don't want a $2000 housing.
IDK how all and everything works, but for video shooting test may I ask you to try rig up video wireless TX/RX then attach waterhouse cam to some kinda pole above water and control them? it seems pretty fun that you guys might wanna try out haha
I have a t2i that I had converted to B/W infrared. Love it! It's more about the talent than the gear. A lot of people with t2is take better pictures than me. It's quite capable.
very cool. I thought you ended up close PJ... You both began the race on planet earth, and that is where you finished. So relatively that was a tight race. Thanks for the education on the cameras though.
The models surname is really Wallfisch. First I thought it was a hilarious joke since Wallfisch nearly means wale in German. Then I checked her instagram profile further. Her grandmother is from Germany and she unfortunately experienced the worst of Germany one could in the last 100 years - she lives in Australia since the ww 2 for a reason. We are really blessed that we can focus on gear for underwater filming. Never ever again.
Looking at the prices on backscatter looks really hefty. But I am also not a driver. I did see s listing for like 2k on eBay a while ago that had a custom underwater housing and a OG pocket Cinema camera.
I like that the owner knows no product is perfect, different from big corporations being like “our product is perfect for everyone and every use case) That buoyancy thing where you find the balance is what I did as a child to try to stay underwater longer lol Edit: I also learned that I did that quick sinking thing when I was young as well lolllll I’ve been training my entire life without knowing Imma buy one if I can get them in Australia lol
If anyone needs an underwater model - I’m the one in this video!
With a name like Wall'fisch', your underwater modeling career may have been preordained. 😂
Great job👍🏽
You are gorgeous. You swim. You have a voice that sounds magic. (took a look at your channel) How can we be sure you are not a Mermaid? 😂😂😍
love the accent.

Looks like a great product to prevent any unwanted camera pregnancy!
I keep telling JR he needs to make a flavored one.
Don't get caught without protection.....
Prelubricated 👍🏽. Now they just need a ribbed version.
No micro sd cards will be expected any time soon
@@808islandlife_HI For your pleasure. Available in Regular, or Large.
I needed this about a month ago 😂 I was such a noob

I'm pretty sure gene made this video cos he saw yours 😂😂
@@divinemagbadelo Facts!
The breathing techniques for free diving and scuba were spot on! I felt like that advice was the best part of the video 🤣

Not 2 days after this video came out, I was asked about doing an underwater shoot. Talk about timing!
I have been using Outex for like 10 years. I love them!

I just got my underwater housing for diving yesterday. I am so hyped to try it out.

The perfect TH-cam video. Relatable, fun, informative and a high quality image. I very much appreciate your work.

These funding projects are great. I can’t wait to see some of the finished products.
I love this product! Great for traveling, too!
I recently got an underwater housing for my DJI pocket 2 and just seen this!!! I’m so excited 😆 Pressing play now!!! 😂😍
I was looking for a system to go with my Sony a7iii, just saw your video and I'm sold! Thanks dude, keep it up!
Awww man, now you made me want one of these. Way to go Potato Jet, I'm still paying for the drone and the gimbal, now this.
8:40 Potato Jet is trying so hard and busy to survive. But others just stand still effortlessly standing there. Let give Gene a thumb up.
Fun fact: This is actually the one time you can use a potato while filming (literally)! Rubbing a slice of potato on the lens before going in the water will help keep the lens free of droplets while switching between shooting over/under the surface.
Keep up the good work potato jet
The gear is awesome, but learning about the human body with the air in and out of lungs is soooooooo dope!!!

Underwater vlogging! Now that's an interesting idea! Good thing you found just the product to get people started on their new underwater vlogs!

Gene in floaties may just be my new favorite thing.
This is awesome!! seriously there's hardly any good underwater content on YT so more of this would be amazing!

That gear looks like a great middle ground, nice!
That race was epic!
Thanks for the heads up, may need to give this one a go.
Just watched this now and loved it.
Is there a part 2?
Definitely need a part 2

Cool stuff PJ.. gotta get one!!
This product seems awesome actually! I have higher priority things to buy but at some point I really want to buy it
Fantastic! Looks like a great product!
It would be amazing if they had one for a BMPCC6K
You look fitted, Gene!💪💪
8:01 “Don’t go around dying saying that Potato Jet told me to do it” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 #dead
Nice concept, but still a bit expensive, especially when you compare it to a dedicated housing such as Seafrogs or universal one like GDome.
Gonna have to pause and make some popcorn
Don't worry. 1:17 Sharks don't eat potatos.... unless they want fish and chips.
This sounds way too fun
This is the best kind of Marketing! :)

Very interesting, good episode.........
The Cam Condom!
This video was really informative !
Great video. Love the content. I’ve often wondered 🤔 if a potato would sink or float in water. Now we know. 😉🤪
It'd be helpful to connect the camera to a smartphone which a second person can use to adjust camera setting on land.
That's our tethering kit. It's available at Outex.com
+1 sub omg almost a milly well done man
Should check out Salty Surf housing
This is a real "why did't I think of this" moment
I think it is not risky at all if you have weather sealed camera if you're setting up for bubbles
