You may say that you like other runs that came after it better BUT Priest 's run set the table for the rest. If it wasn't for that run you wouldn't have had the others. Priest took the Black Panther to another level.

I love this run. I have most of the floppies( missing issue #25). Can't wait to read your review of Quantum and Woody. Christopher Priest wrote the excellent mini series Solar Man of the Atom: Hell on Earth which had major roles for Quantum and Woody. Very cheap on Ebay and haven't been reprinted. Man of The Atom by Warren Ellis and Revelations by Jim Krueger should be read too first. Cheap on ebay.

Joe Quesada actually did pencils/layouts for the first six issues. I wish his art was left untouched and I'm sure this run would have been bigger at the time.

This is my intro to the character aside from some random back issues I had when I was really young, and its still my favorite and the definitive run...it should be the equivalent of Frank Miller's DD run as far as being a total game changer in how the character is depicted, but it often feels like creators pay lip service to this version of T'Challa but don't really write him this way (I'd say Hickman, Ewing and Aaron are exceptions...but in his solo books, forget it). I think this run is fine for new readers, its narrative style is just more sophisticated than most modern comics...but how many casuals have picked up Sandman, Watchmen, V for Vendetta or Dark Knight Returns and none of those are typical of modern comics...yeah I guess I'm comparing Priest's run to those series ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ obviously the Priest run isn't on the level of those, mainly because it didn't get to end properly and the Kasper Kole segment at the end sucks.

Totally agree with you that Priest run is not the best for new readers or just people new to Black Panther. The story is not super accessible. Nor is the art. I love both, but Hudlin is best for new folks. 💯

I still consider it the only good BP run, oh, McGregor was good too. It stands as an all time goat.
