It’s a city that’s been growing way too fast with the little opportunities that are present. If you’re from somewhere very remote like a rural area, it’s a nice change of pace. If you’re from anywhere that has better city infrastructure, then you see the city for what it really is. In reality, people here cannot drive, houses have gotten completely unaffordable, roads aren’t maintained, there’s perpetual construction that seems like it’s never going to be complete, crime is rampant everywhere, etc.
@bobbobbington3615 DC is kinda always bad, so I don't blame you for thinking that. Its just a weird place. and I don't recommend anyone lives there by choice.
I have yet to live anywhere where people dont say the drivers are the worst. Roads have improved notably in the last 5 years (due to special tax). Perpetual construction, well yea, it’s call working on the roads. The economy is well underpinned by the 5 military installations, there personnel, and all the defense contractors
Been in the Springs for over a year now and recently started my own Private Security Agency (we specialize in removing transients from retail businesses, apartment complexes, and gas stations). I can say that in the short amount of time I've been here, the homeless drug epidemic has gotten much worse. The police only show up for half the calls we make to them and I've seen a huge uptick in vehicle break-ins and robberies. There's always road construction and many people drive like maniacs here. I'm here to stay now, but the Springs certainly has its drawbacks. Very informative and well-edited vid! 👏
Infrastructure can't keep up with growth. Taxes are going up again. They got rid of the power plant downtown and are bringing in power from out of town. Now the price of electricity is going up. Crime is going up. Colorado Springs is now more moderate than conservative, but the state is now deep blue with all of the California transplants. Denver is as bad as San Francisco now.
I've been in the Springs area since 1966, raised my family in Black Forest. My gripes are that the population has grown too fast, development is too poorly planned, costs are getting too high, drugs are everywhere, crime is out of control, and liberals are taking over. My kids have moved to other states. The reason I've stayed so far is the comfortable climate and deep "roots," but those factors are beginning to not be enough. Colorado is amazing. There's no better natural climate, but the social climate is definitely a downer.
Hum...no wonder why so many are SOOOOO unfriendly.....WAS a ''''red''''state......Glad to hear they're coming to they're common senses..I'm not saying that to be nasty, but you've got to admit, it's been messed since 2016 ..MANY are moving away..It's expensive too..
I've lived in the Springs since '92. I laugh when people talk about the snow. Being from Michigan originally, I feel like it almost never snows here. I also like the dry air and lack of mosquitoes. Two things are making me consider leaving... The left-leaning policies at the State level is destroying our freedom, and the unbelievably crowded hiking trails in the area. It's almost impossible to find solitude. That wasn't the case in the 90s and early 2000s.
I’m from MI too, and I thought the same thing. We get “dusting” of snow and I “solar shovel”…..which is leave it on my driveway and let the sun melt it the next day. 😅
@@dangeles95 Louisiana is now forcing children to see their imaginary friend's top 10 religious rules in every classroom. That's using state power. That means it's enforced with guns. It's the same reason I oppose Islam. Religion at gunpoint is the opposite of freedom.
I moved to Colorado Springs from Hawaii. I see no difference in cost of living between both. A one bedroom in Hawaii can run $1600 and up, Colorado Springs around the same price. Colorado Springs is charging fees for ridiculous nonsense on top of rent. I have looked at over 10 so called luxury apartments here in Colorado Springs. All of these complexes are charging extra for valet trash, rebuild utility cost, large package mail boxes, parking, wifi in common areas, common area utilities, etc…These fees are mandatory fees. All it takes in one state to get away with it, and the rest will follow. It’s this new generation of morons that think they’re entitled. Remember your child asking for money to take out the trash?! Some parents paid them to take out the trash. Well they now think they should charge the rest of us to take out our trash. I am waiting for one to tell me doorknobs and toilet handles are an extra cost per month. The luxury apartments aren’t even luxury. Being a new apartment, doesn’t make it luxurious. Taking out my trash is just another way to get more money out of me, it’s not luxury. None of these apartments have ice maker refrigerators, hot tubs in units, or other real luxury amenities within the units. Colorado Springs has a lot of gimmick BS nonsense. It’s sad because I have met a lot of nice people from Colorado Springs that are shocked at what’s going on.
I’m from Hawaii too and I moved to Las Vegas 8 years ago. I have my own apartment for 2 bed 2 bathrooms for 2100, 2 cars, insurance, utilities, groceries, gas, & etc. so my bills has been going up, I usually spend alittle over 3600 a month for everything. I’m planning to move there and the cost of it seems a lot cheaper than what we have in Vegas and in Hawaii. Our homeless right now is at an all time high here In Vegas because it’s getting to expensive and Hawaii is the same. But I also found an apartment for 1400 downtown and a home that I can rent out for 1650 I rather do that then live here in Vegas nor Hawaii.
And what island are you referring to? I’m from Oahu, and I can assure you I have never seen a one bedroom going for that low unless it’s a run down, old appliance, shoe-box of a square footage place. I see a huge difference here in the mainland when it comes to space and what it has to offer. Just because the prices may be the same, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the same quality.
Colorado Springs is really a beautiful place. But the reason I left was because of the long winters and I just got to the point where I was sick of shoveling snow and scraping the ice off my car every morning before work.
Yep, right where I live. They’re scraping every bit of dirt in sight to build homes, and every empty corner is getting more useless (IMO) businesses. Now (Summer 24), housing is slowing down (finally) due to high prices and interest rates.
My family is all from CS. and live here. My parents graduated from the only High School CS had. I went to the same HS. It was a WONDERFUL town to grow up in. We used to 'Cruise Nevada', anyone from here in that era will know what that means. I rode my horse on a gravel road that is now called Academy Blvd and that was out of town . We were much more western themed back in the day. CS is slightly leaning right still, but we really have no say in what the left from Boulder and Denver do in this blue state. But at close to retirement we are looking to get the hell out...maybe. You can not go anywhere anytime of the day without being in traffic and hoards of people. It's like people don't have to actually be at a job during the day. Ute pass in the summer is quite the congested road rally. Yes I know I've been to LA, Dallas etc. But compared to what it was it's tough considering this city was never intended for this many residents and large throughways are few. Travel east/west is a bitch. The potholes are pretty bad too. When I was growing up we never locked our car or house. If there was a murder or stabbing people talked about it for months. Today it's a common occurrence. I live in a pretty nice area on the north but hear gunshots from traveling cars. Drugs and homelessness is common just like big cities are these days, but it didn't used to be here. We are looking for somewhere else but this is all I really know. I will say thanks to the explosive growth my properties are worth many times what I paid for them, so that should help. It would be hard though my roots here run deep.
@@richieapodaca4100FACT! You have a lot of military bases. Most of what is in Colorado Springs are military who didn’t have a choice. I am from Hawaii, I am leaving Colorado Springs myself. I have met some real ignorant people in Colorado Springs. A lot of which are out of touch with the real world. Perhaps the problem is not people moving to/from Colorado Springs, it’s your legalization of drugs. Colorado would legalize the smoking of cow manure if it could get them high.
I've lived in Colorado most of my life and and yes it has gotten So expensive that my family can't afford it which is why we have decided to move east my brother tries to make comparisons about which is better but i can't do it anymore love the mountains hate the city.
Been living in the Springs for about 26 years. Colorado's infrastructure and size is significantly different than it used to be. It was always decently big, but fairly spread out. It had a sort of "big small town" fee; a spread out city with pockets of people and fairly rural outside of downtown/I25. Now the city is huge, and what used to be counted as the "country" is being developed. With all that too has come a drastic increase in cost of living, so much so that long term residents/children of those residents are having trouble finding places that are affordable (despite the rampant housing market). There's also a large amount of out-of-state people swinging a large amount of buying power. Everyone I know that's trying to buy constantly gets out-bid by people throwing 20-30k higher than asking price at every house they're interested in. And on the converse side of that, it's profitable to sell your house and just leave Colorado since folks are buying homes well over asking price.
I've been here 22 years but plan on leaving when I retire. The cost of living has gotten very high and while I own my own home, the suburban feel of the city disappeared awhile ago and now the city feels like it is on its way to being a lot like Denver with the crime. I have never seen homelessness this bad before and while the winters can have cold snowy days, they are not as plentiful as they once were. It isn't uncommon to see a winter day in the 50 degree range or warmer. The traffic on I-25 around rush hour has only gotten worse and the city seems to ignore the issues that are obvious to everyone who lives here. I really feel for younger people who can't afford rent here or afford to buy a home. I am hopeful that the city could return to what it once was.
Are you able to talk about the areas around Colorado Springs that are best for young families? So, talking about schools, parks, fun things for kids who are between 5-10 years old, etc.
It's also been soul-crushing over the last few years watching all of the cool open space within the city getting mowed down in order to line developers' pockets.... That being said, I'm one of those heading out, for some of the reasons you mentioned and many more....it was a good run, COS, see ya!
And they aren't getting rented. If you look online, they're getting desperate enough they're giving away months of free rent, free appliances, move in specials, etc.
@@eparris2908True, but no one is renting when the math is done. They’re charging junk fees on top of the rent. Factor the rent with the junk fees, a one bedroom becomes $1900 a month. I can get a real nice place in Hawaii overlooking the ocean for that price. I wouldn’t have to have a car, because most things are in walking distance.
Been here since 86. It’s a hard place to leave. You look around for a better place to live and land back on Colorado Springs. Yes, it’s grown. Yes, more crime than 20 years ago but what city isn’t seeing this. Yes, unfortunately, the home prices and rents are high. They are high because people want to live here. It’s a great town.
I think a lot of states are facing these same problems. I moved to Colorado Springs from Hawaii. Hawaii is starting to look like a condo jungle. I do see Colorado moving in the direction of Hawaii, California, New York with over priced rentals. I have been looking for a place. I am laughing at the extra fees these places think they’re entitled to…Valet trash, package mail boxes, common area utilities, fees to rebill utility cost, etc…These luxury apartments aren’t luxury. A lot overlook a parking lot. Yesterday I drive by one with the pool facilities boarded up in the Broadmor area. Then within 1 day, the rent goes up $200 on the same unit. Everyone in the complex paying a different rate for the exact same thing. Lmao
CS is like San Diego but with no beaches, and a colder but not too bad of winters. The big negative like SD is that it is sprawling with absolutely terrible public transportation. The lack of planning barb is justified. The upside is that there are alot of good restaurants and things to do there and the weather is generally warmer than Denver or Fort Collins.
I moved from California to Colorado Springs in 2003, At the time it was way way more inexpensive, I got there and rented a nice 3 bedroom house for $800 a month, its more than doubled now! I think it's beautiful but I never got used to the altitude, My eyes were always bloodshot at the end of the day and I got winded easily with any type of exercise. I moved away personally but in my opinion it's lost its biggest appeal, which to me was the affordability... I've also never been anywhere else thar I've seem so many people with oxygen tanks. Also I worked with an older guy and his doctor told him he needed to move somewhere else for his heart condition. Said if he didn't he was gonna die, he moved to Atlanta
Inflation roughly doubles the price of everything every 20 years, but a 3 bedroom house goes for minimum $2,400, now. So housing has tripled since 2003, really.
I don't live there anymore but there were definitely a lot of people from California there. Not only that but most people I met weren't originally from there
I am from Hawaii. I have that same problem. I always feel winded. I have low energy. In Hawaii I could walk far, not in Colorado Springs. I always feel like I can’t breathe.
I love it in the Springs! Potholes suck but the biggest negative is the lack of an East side freeway which limits the North-South options. This forces many East-West paths to be BUSY during peak times.
Horrible and understaffed policing, infrastructure issues, Roads a decade behind on maintenance, poor Healthcare options and everyone here thinks they are worth more than doctors. Had a yard crew quote me 170.00 to make my pine needles! Takes me an hr only. That's all saying nothing of the lack of attractions for a city this size. Most concert venues still go to Denver or redrocks but almost never the springs. Been here 17 years now and it's went downhill like a bobsled race.
@@nomadericI am from Hawaii. I find Colorado Springs people to be nothing but selfish self centered people who are out of touch with the world. All I hear and see in Colorado Springs is whining. They have that toddler attitude, “mine, mine, mine, we not willing to share.”
I moved here a little over a year ago. Now, I am saving and planning to move out. I don't even want to be in Colorado anymore. The scenery is beautiful, but nothing else is great for me here at all.
My wife has lived here all of her life as a matter of fact in the current house that we now own and I've lived here since 2001 I got stationed here back then it was a nice place to live. Now it's completely unaffordable, the policies and politics of this once great state or dictated by Boulder and Denver. When they can't raise sales tax they go on a hissy fit and overvalue your house so you can pay more in taxes to them. The roads here suck we pay a buttload of money for tags which the money and fees are supposed to go to roads but when you have potholes they can sink a 2500 suburban where is this money going to? My wife and I as soon as we can are saving up looking for jobs in other states and leaving Colorado it's a shell of its former self
It’s cold? ……oh, you lived in Florida, gotcha. New York, Michigan, Boston and Chicago were my “formers.” Came for the weather , --a big success! Hiking in Colorado Springs is probably the best of any city in the US. Lots of military and veterans, that is true, and does add to moving in and out. You’re pushing Houston? Sweaty hell in the summer, hurricanes, floods, no thank you. … and it took me 3 hours to drive across Dallas! But if you’re fat and want to sit a lot by the TV and air conditioner, then, yeah, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Florida are good picks.
I’ve been in Colorado Springs since 1991. The homeless pop is the highest it’s ever been and i’ve noticed more violent crime. However if you’re further north or in the typical up scale neighborhoods, you don’t have much to worry about. The scenery is AMAZING but the elevation does affect health and even baby births. I like the springs more than Denver because there’s less traffic, less homeless, less wokeness and a slower pace. It’s much cheaper to live in springs than Denver but Colorado is starting to become one of the more expensive states to by a home. Colorado tends to follow the same trends of California. So you can just watch Cali and have an idea where things are heading. Also you better like snow at some capacity if you’re in Colorado because it’s super random. haha
I personally wouldn’t equate politics into it, I’d say rank quality of life with quantifiable values, like weather over what color the state represents. In my opinion, Arizona would be the better option since their cost of living is much lower than Colorado Springs.
@@FadeHook23One of the reasons why Colorado's cost of living is so high is because of politics. You have liberal politics of Denver and Boulder that run the state and want to tax and fee you out of existence. When they can't pass their absorbent increase in sales taxes they like to overvalue your homes to get more tax money out of it.
If you are from there, it's hard to see it today. If you move from LA NY Houston Dallas SF. You think it's quaint and small. I grew up in Denver metro in the 80s & 90s it was so nice. Moved to Austin in 98 and it was so so nice. Now it's only really nice of you are from Bay Area LA.
I've heard the same thing about Florida recently. Especially seen it in TH-cam videos "Everyone is leaving Florida!". No they're not - growth has just slowed, but its still growing. The main reason is expense - it's not as reasonable as it used to be - just like what you were saying about Colorado Springs. Slower growth is healthier anyway. Gives the area time to adjust and catch up to the bigger population.
Insurance collapse in Florida makes moving there scary. And bugs. And limestone sinkholes. And swamps. And nonstop home invasion robberies. And hurricanes. And tornados.
@@donaldkasper8346 No sinkholes in my area. Never have heard of a home invasion robbery in my city or those nearby in the 9 months I've been here. Definitely had several in the small city near Sacramento that I moved here from. My realtor that helped me sell my house shot and killed a home invader who broke into her home and was holding her husband at gunpoint. That's not the only one while I lived there. Plus a homeless man was beaten to death a block from my subdivision. Not to mention insurance rates going up over wildfires nearby. Yeah, it's always something regardless where you live. So far this area has been pretty quiet.
@@donaldkasper8346 Many people own guns in California and know how to use them (legally). Many people have CC permits. Again, my real estate agent had this happen to her family in 2019 and she took care of the druggie bastard. As far as not needing a permit to carry, I'm actually OK with that. I own a "Saturday Night Special" and when I travel away from my home city it's with me. Funny thing is, I don't hear of any more shootings here than I did it California.🤔 In fact, my current city is much safer than the one in Cali.
60 something’s here, moving to Oregon. I love everything here except to increasing congestion. My wife would like bit milder winter, particularly no icy ground to walk on in winter. Overall it’s a great place, but we’re cashing in our chips. We’re getting a nice home on 5 acres just outside Grants Pass OR. So is there anything to drive out a homeowner? Not really in my opinion. If you rent, that’s another matter.
Lived here for 35 plus years. Older people leaving because thier are maybe 2 developments of retirement living. Im not talking about nursing home just a development with patio type homes with Tennis, or pickle ball courts in this type community. You are correct about more liberal politics. I miss Mayor Isaac.
Friends of mine own in these areas. I find the homes to large for seniors. Seniors don’t need 4-5 bedroom homes for 1-2 people. I can understand why they’re moving. There needs to be more smaller affordable homes built in nicer neighborhoods for seniors.
@annesand7157 The Retreat which is a true 56 plus has 2 bedroom townehome and it's a perfect size one level living zero steps and price is ok, but they are a year out. The other place in town is way over priced in Monument Colorado and they don't have 2 bedroom units and you are correct they 3 and 4 bedroom. Way over sized. That's why all my friends are moving to Arizona which is incredibly to hot in summer and are regretting it. Colorado Springs is losing huge amounts of people 65 plus because developers will not build 55 plus retirement type communities and we pay our taxes better than any age group. SAD..
Because it has become Calirado. Failed social policies left and right, blind amnesty for illegal immigrants, crime rate is out of control, housing unaffordable, etc. Etc.
The rental complexes are a joke. They’re charging extra for valet trash. I am from Hawaii. I thought Hawaii was nickle and dining people. I liked to know what idiot thinks I should pay an extra $25 for them to take my trash to the dumpster! When fees are factored in to the rent, a one bedroom is $1800 and up a month, no different than Hawaii.
@@annesand7157 Its kinda crazy. At last in hawaii, its, you know, hawaii-but colorado springs is honestly really ugly. People can say all they want about the mountains, and sure, they're impressive, they really are, but the city is so ugly, so dirty, so unappealing, that one major piece of scenery can't change how trashy COS looks.
I think with the high cost of living hiking up everyday and the fact that everybody and their brother wants to live here makes being able to afford living here very tough.
Been in CS since 2012 due to being in the USAF and USSF. When I first got here, it was mainly outdoor activities, clubs/bars, hookah spots, and typical things local sports, gym, and restaurants. They’ve added A LOT since then. Examples being TopGolf, Indoor Skydiving, and many other things like that. It’s prices have gone up. My first property cost 160k in 2012. I bought it for 220k in 2019. It’s now worth 320k in 2024. My house I bought was for 560k in 2022. Two friends who have the same floor plans paid 415k in 2021 and 390k in 2019. So it has become expensive to live here. Never heard people leaving because they had a friend or friends that deployed for 6-12 months. Denver is Massive compared to us so never heard of it being a mini denver. Politics have always seems 70/30 towards conservatives. It’s probably about 60/40. Not something that seems too crazy to me. Big factor is homelessness. Since it’s expensive I’ve notice A LOT more homeless individuals. Surprised they stay here during the winter. They are building A LOT of single family neighborhoods and apartments complex. It’s definitely growing but the places he mentioned seem cheaper and warmer.
Too many people moved to COS. The infrastructure needs to expand because of this. There's constant construction and traffic. People are rude. Lots of road rage. It got too expensive.
I lived in Flagstaff, AZ and knew a bunch of people from Colorado Springs. Most of them said they left because of the population increase and political/future outlook of the city. It’s on my list to visit for sure.
I lived in flag and now reside in the springs. Both are too populated for their own good . Flagstaff is full of either rich yuppies or broke college kids. It’s slightly easier to make it here in COS
Not happening. A democrat mayor was recently elected. While I’m not conservative per se, if I wanted to be in a place similar to my home state (CA) I would have stayed my butt there. Now comes the crazy woke politics yuck
The lack of humidity, jobs in my wife’s field and political shift are part of the reason we are considering leaving. The summers here are absolutely amazing though and the mountains are more epic here than any other city in the country. Hoping to be able to have a summer home here when it comes time to retire
Yeah I’m living in South Florida rn because money and jobs are abundant - now I’m just looking at places where I can retire because remote areas are difficult to find work. Miss the west coast though, CO is beyond beautiful.
@@Imjusttryingtotellu do you recommend any particular parts of south Florida? I’ve been looking at Dallas, Nashville and Orlando. Orlando simply because it’s not exposed to hurricanes. Tempted to look at TN because taxes across the board are so low but if FL is the best option for jobs I might have to reconsider. Dallas I just can’t bring myself to move to. So hot and boring
@@Fnnggjji I grew up in South Florida and lived in LA for 8 years because salaries were low and its much different now. A lot of young entrepreneurs are moving down here - wages are benefits are a lot better than it used to be. South Florida is expensive though, it’s hard to justify if you don’t have family here - Orlando is more affordable and you’ll get A LOT more house. Not sure about the other places you mentioned because I’ve only lived in CA / FL but Florida is booming!!!! It’s crazy, I’ve never seen it like this. Retirees are leaving but the economy is insane especially if you’re working an infrastructure job - they have to get the incoming water issues under control and there’s a lot of jobs available for that sort of work. The arts are booming, tons of art jobs - it’s a very interesting time right now for sure. I could see us hitting Cali salaries within the next decade for sure! But Texas houses are huge! I don’t think FL can compete but I can’t say with total certainty but it definitely is hot down here to lol I can’t lie to you, it’s something you gotta get used to but everyone in South Florida is hot, young and fit - it’s a good time lol I’m in Pompano and I love it - very central, can get to Miami if I want or easily head north. West Palm is really nice and chill, Miami is the big city, lots to do. Ft. Lauderdale is nice but stay out of Hollywood, it’s a flood zone. The more west you can get, the better.
CS is definitely becoming more expensive and over the years, I'm seeing more and more liberal officials being elected ever since this State started mail in balloting and the decisions being made by elected officials are following California's lead. These reasons are why I'm considering leaving myself.
All the apartments are full, apartment prices have doubled. There's a community of hundreds of homeless living in the woods (you can see the trail of shopping carts and trash leading to their community). Half the houses are empty, owned by banks, and no one will buy them as they are over priced...people are leaving because the city is being trashed, banks can't recover to sell assets and the state does nothing. Don't even get me started on the gun fire, vehicle break in's/theft, shoplifting, and squatters in south springs that the police won't even respond to.
The Springs has doubled in population in the last 25 years, but there isn’t one new golf course that has been built this century! 3 golf courses for 500,000 people. One thing I haven’t seen in any of these videos is the mention of all the dirt bags who moved here 10-12 years ago because of medical marijuana.
Median house price is aroung a half a million dollars..... that's the start of it. People who work normal jobs that don't giv raises, simply cannot afford to live here. When the only housing options which are affordable are in the crime ridden south end of town, there is nothing to do but leave.
Pot smokers have taken over the springs and the conservatives who used to be the majority have had enough. The city is now Boulder south so that is the reason I left can't speak for anyone else but all the people I know that is the reason.
Spot on! We are moving from Colorado Springs due to the state going woke overall. You have valid points on the cost of living and weather as well. Born and raised in Colorado Springs but leaving for Huntsville in November. 45 year resident of the springs.
I think this is either a realtor or misonformed. El paso county, specifically colorado springs is the only area growing naturally and the fastest growing in the state. This is per 2024 and 2023 reports first found via cpr. When people leave its usuallt job related. If you dont have a top secret or work in denver or both, you are sol.
I live in the San Luis Valley. I simply loathe any time I need to travel to the front range. Too hectic on the road. When you live in a natural place of beauty living in a megalopolis simply sucks.
Let’s rephrase this title. “Why are Colorado natives and locals leaving?” The answer is so many people have moved here to escape their own shit hole that it has spiked our taxes and our housing prices. The newer generations of natives can’t afford to live in the state they were born into. Crime has gone up so its less safe then it used to be and on top of that our right to protect ourselves has been diminished and restricted. I grew up in this very city. I’ve seen it go from half way okay to now being riddled with crime, homelessness, greed, drugs. Hell even the cartel is here now. Granted it’s always had these things to an extent but I implore you to look around for yourself. Our governor has no interest in making changes that benefit our state. The people are tired of being forced to give up their lives just to survive. Working all of the time to barely make ends meet because the state is allowing slum lords to purchase most of the apartments and houses only for them to neglect tenants and make a quick buck. There’s consistent and lengthy roadwork always being done on almost every major roadway (which may I add takes damn near a decade per project to finish). The economy here is atrocious. There’s clear division between lower income areas and higher income areas both in police presence and funding. At the end of the day these are just a few reasons that we are leaving. Everyone thinks it’s all mountains and sunshine over here. It’s not please keep your vacation a vacation and not a staycation.
Its expensive because people actually strive to live in places like CS. Its not like middle of nowhere iowa or Pennsylvania where everyone was born there so there stuck there.
The Springs is shitty now due to the influx of idiots moving here and causing the housing and everthing else to go through the roof price wise. $1800 a mo for a 1bed apartment is ridiculous. And thats in the bad areas. You want a nice neighborhood its gonna cost closer to $2100 on up.
It's one thing for a town to have a 50% population increase over a decade when the population was 70,000. It's an entire other thing when the population is pushing 500,000. CO Springs grew by 15% from 2010 to 2020 and is on pace to hit a mark near that for the 2030 census. So no, people are now leaving Colorado Springs en masse and this city is fact still growing a rapid rate compared to most other major US cities.
Im in los angeles and i regret coming out here that i miss Colorado. I should of never came out here not realizing how very expensive it is here and how hard it is to get a job out here. That in Colorado it was easier to find a job. Just trying to be smart about my move back..i want to pay my rent out there in advance for a few months so i dont stress.
As a native. COS has gone to shit. Unless you are upper middle class or rich. The cost of living is insane. The crime is going up. And it's turning into any other major city run by democrats.
They keep building homes east of marksheffel. I bet you one day there will be subdivisions that stretch out all the way east to calhan . Maybe within 10-15 years
Stop blaming only California. I was working at the Salvation Army here in Colorado Springs. The 2 idiots I encountered are from Arkansas and Chicago. Then there is one who thinks she should get a free ride to and from work everyday, she claims to live here for over 30 years. I am from Hawaii, I thought Hawaii had morons, but Colorado Springs has them as well.
Why is Everyone Leaving Colorado Springs? Well, let's see...traffic is unbelievable, cost of living is incredible, violent crime is very high, crowds everywhere are amazingly thick, what did I leave out???
Please leave COlorado period! I am so sick of those who come and can't afford it cry to us to raise our taxes yet again to go towards low income housing...do your research first. If you can't afford don't make us pay for you to live here! I live in Salida, and Housing Authority tries every year to get more money out of us under the guise of helping the work force. Work force! Ha, the people coming here want to collect their monthly welfare check and live in low income apartments so they don't HAVE TO WORK! I run a retail shop and it's so hard to get good honest help these days. They want to work less but yet make the same money if they worked 40 hours. NOT my generation....
Cold long seasons so, backyard gardening sucks. It's hail city. It's arid country. Architecture designs is lacking. The condo's being build look like they hired the cheapest, non imaginative architects. They cost too much and are actually cheap buildings being sold as chic-art-deco stylish and having a pipe across the top of your ceiling as your AC/Heat unit is tacky. Compared to FL and CA condo's, these are ugly. Even with so many military bases, they are not veteran friendly. The governor recently changed the Homestead for seniors 65 or older from living in their home 5 years before they can apply, to now 10 years before they can apply. Like saying "We are just waiting for you to die so we don't have to give you any tax breaks". If you move to Fountain, that is a suburb south of COSP, there are no hospitals so you have to drive out to the springs to see your doctor and that's about a 30+ minute drive. Currently, driving on I-25, you've got people that don't understand that it's a passing lane so they sit there slowly cruising and not wanting to move, forcing everyone to pass them on the right. Drivers are not courteous. I'm ready to leave. Waiting for my contract to expire so I can just leave.
Colorado lost being centrist in 2010. So much so a state that would have never even tried to infringe on the rights of its citizens has attempted an all out ban on firearms three years running. 8 of the last 10 laws infringing on the second amendment rights of the people passed in the last legislative session. All while police response times are slower or non existent and crime has spiked.
Bahaha agreed. Crime is gone up like crazy, homeless people everywhere, streets and roads aren’t well maintained. You’re naive if you believe it’s a good city.
Is just me, but I spend 10 years out of CO springs now I move back but it feel like more like CO Springs have gotten the Californication treatment everything is expensive drugs and homeless people everywhere.
I have lived in Colorado Aprings for 24 years and there are a lot of people who are pretty rude and unfriendly because most people are military and they don’t live here… and the cost of homes are super expensive. I moved … a lot of liberals
I've been in the Springs since 1990. I love this place, but it's completely lost to the Democrat zombie horde, and we're totally screwed. It's going to keep getting worse, and Colorado Springs might hold out longer because of the Conservative bent, but state laws are still state laws and Colorado is doomed to be another California. I own a home here and would love to stay if it weren't for the politics, so we'll be moving to another freer state when possible.

So basically another Democrat run city shithole.
@bobbobbington3615 idk about rn. The Springs isn’t what it was 5 years ago when it was waaay more affordable.
@bobbobbington3615 DC is kinda always bad, so I don't blame you for thinking that. Its just a weird place. and I don't recommend anyone lives there by choice.
Yeah that’s everywhere these days.

Totally agree with you on the fact that it compared to states like Michigan, it “hardly” snows here.

You are right about the long winters! Winter is like 6 months here.

Yep, right where I live. They’re scraping every bit of dirt in sight to build homes, and every empty corner is getting more useless (IMO) businesses. Now (Summer 24), housing is slowing down (finally) due to high prices and interest rates.
I don't think everyone leaving CS, its gone from 150,000 45 years ago to 800,000 metro population today 2024!! Hello get your facts straight!!
Correct! It’s definitely still growing. This video is more to explain the reasoning as to why everyone who is leaving is deciding to leave.
Too much traffic and too many car accidents.
Too many Texans coming in the summer and they suck at driving
The military base is a combo of sooo many different driving STYLES. You put those together, along with tourist drivers, it's kinda chaotic
He DID also say that the moving in pop HAS SLOWED DOWN lately
Hey small world. I work at that school.
Great. If all those who complain leave..it’ll be better
FACT..if your bitching....Leave...
Been here almost 10 years. Looking to sell my house and make a nice profit. Go someplace warmer and where my money can go farther.
Absolutely! That’s a great idea
Look at Salida
@@Metaphoreignplease don’t
It's also been soul-crushing over the last few years watching all of the cool open space within the city getting mowed down in order to line developers' pockets.... That being said, I'm one of those heading out, for some of the reasons you mentioned and many more....it was a good run, COS, see ya!
Those 10s of thousands of dystopian apartment units going up tell me things aren't slowing down that much.
Coming to visit, this was informative thank you

Been here since 86. It’s a hard place to leave. You look around for a better place to live and land back on Colorado Springs. Yes, it’s grown. Yes, more crime than 20 years ago but what city isn’t seeing this. Yes, unfortunately, the home prices and rents are high. They are high because people want to live here. It’s a great town.

Unfortunately, they’re not moving out. Growth is out of control with no bridle on developer greed.
More people are definitely moving to Colorado Springs than leaving, that’s for sure!
Thanks for coming by the channel!
Worst thing a colorado resident can here is I just moved from California.
What do you mean limits? lol there’s only 2 options in the whole damn city!
Powers or Academy! It’s kind of wild for a city this size….
They should have an interstate loop where powers is and a connector from here to Limon
Good, been way too many people moving here, more of them that leave the better

I personally wouldn’t equate politics into it, I’d say rank quality of life with quantifiable values, like weather over what color the state represents. In my opinion, Arizona would be the better option since their cost of living is much lower than Colorado Springs.
@@FadeHook23One of the reasons why Colorado's cost of living is so high is because of politics. You have liberal politics of Denver and Boulder that run the state and want to tax and fee you out of existence. I've heard the same thing about Florida recently. Especially seen it in TH-cam videos "Everyone is leaving Florida!". No they're not - growth has just slowed, but its still growing.
SAD..

Elbert, Payton, and Falcon are growing - about 25 - 30 minutes east of the Springs.
Interesting!!
I lived in flag and now reside in the springs. Both are too populated for their own good . Flagstaff is full of either rich yuppies or broke college kids. It’s slightly easier to make it here in COS
Fentonal is everywhere
Hopefully Colorado Springs remains conservative 🇺🇸✝️🇮🇱
Not happening. A democrat mayor was recently elected.
While I’m not conservative per se, if I wanted to be in a place similar to my home state (CA) I would have stayed my butt there. Now comes the crazy woke politics yuck
@johngallardo,iwell if they elected a democrat mayor, springs shall surely become trash!
Remains far right / radical / culture less lol.
I don’t think FL can compete but I can’t say with total certainty but it definitely is hot down here to lol I can’t lie to you, it’s something you gotta get used to but everyone in South Florida is hot, young and fit - it’s a good time lol
I’m in Pompano and I love it - very central, can get to Miami if I want or easily head north.
I live near the Springs, still miles better than OKC, where I lived before.
3? I have 3 within 4 miles of my house.
@@johnbutler1279 There’s Patty Jewett, Valley Hi, Pine Creek. Those are the only public, 18 hole courses in Colorado Springs
Good, go move to Florida with the other conservatives before it’s completely underwater
Spot on! We are moving from Colorado Springs due to the state going woke overall. You have valid points on the cost of living and weather as well. Born and raised in Colorado Springs but leaving for Huntsville in November. 45 year resident of the springs.
Hey Larry, Thanks for watching!
Wishing you guys all the best on your relocation to Huntsville!
Yes move, especially if you are from Kalifornia
I think this is either a realtor or misonformed. El paso county, specifically colorado springs is the only area growing naturally and the fastest growing in the state. This is per 2024 and 2023 reports first found via cpr. When people leave its usuallt job related. If you dont have a top secret or work in denver or both, you are sol.
I live in the San Luis Valley. I simply loathe any time I need to travel to the front range. Too hectic on the road. When you live in a natural place of beauty living in a megalopolis simply sucks.
Moved from Cali and can’t wait to go back. Roads suck, drivers suck, people suck, everything sucks.
Cali is even worse stay there
Let’s rephrase this title.
Cause its a military town. It fills and empties regularly
It’s hard to get work in LA now? I moved from LA back east in 2022 - used to be jobs everywhere - that’s wild to hear.
As a native. COS has gone to shit. Unless you are upper middle class or rich. The cost of living is insane. The crime is going up. And it's turning into any other major city run by democrats.
You didn’t mention the tasteless food they have here.
They keep building homes east of marksheffel. I bet you one day there will be subdivisions that stretch out all the way east to calhan . Maybe within 10-15 years
It definitely wouldn’t surprise me!
Cuz californians are moving in.
Moved to the Springs middle of last year with my wife and we love it! Favorite city I've lived in by far 🎉
Welcome to Colorado Springs! Feel free to reach out if you need anything!
Why is Everyone Leaving Colorado Springs? Well, let's see...traffic is unbelievable, cost of living is incredible, violent crime is very high, crowds everywhere are amazingly thick, what did I leave out???
Very informative.
Glad to hear it! Are there any topics that would like us to cover?
@@LivingInCOSpringsColorado possibly the neighborhoods with great trails.
Great idea!
80s and 90s it was a high tech hub. That stopped.
It’s definitely still an aerospace and defense hub. I’d consider those tech.
"Pueblo: 70 miles.
Denver: 170 miles."
Even the roadsigns on I-25 ignore Colorado Springs.
When you admit the population is still growing, claiming EVERYONE is leaving is clickbate. Otherwise, solid vid.
People in the springs wear pajamas n shit in public..🤦
Can confirm, I’ve worn pajamas in public before!
And then why all moving in monument.
Like everyplace along the front range, it’s a midwestern town with an undeserved high opinion of itself.
Because Kenda retired?
CO Springs - Crackhead central.
They have whataburger.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out
Ive never been to springs tho..only Denver and everygreen Colorado.
The Space Center is staying in Colorado Springs. Not moving.
People leave because co springs is trash
Bahaha agreed. Crime is gone up like crazy, homeless people everywhere, streets and roads aren’t well maintained. You’re naive if you believe it’s a good city.
@bobbobbington3615yea colorado springs is a premier city in America. Idk where these ppl think they are gonna leave to that's so much better
@@ineedvyvanse3493You are probably one of those people who are afraid of their shadow
Lmao
Bro it ain’t even bad in Colorado springs
Is just me, but I spend 10 years out of CO springs now I move back but it feel like more like CO Springs have gotten the Californication treatment everything is expensive drugs and homeless people everywhere.
Crime here is ridiculous, I hear gun shots all night long. I live in a nice area too.
I have lived in Colorado Aprings for 24 years and there are a lot of people who are pretty rude and unfriendly because most people are military and they don’t live here… and the cost of homes are super expensive. I moved … a lot of liberals
Honestly the traffic sucks and there are too many people lol. The city itself is great though
6900 feet above sea level.
Slowing Down,,,,Come on Guy,,,, Lol😂
I've been in the Springs since 1990. I love this place, but it's completely lost to the Democrat zombie horde, and we're totally screwed. It's going to keep getting worse, and Colorado Springs might hold out longer because of the Conservative bent, but state laws are still state laws and Colorado is doomed to be another California. I own a home here and would love to stay if it weren't for the politics, so we'll be moving to another freer state when possible.
I just ran some people leaving omaha fo denver, and was like yea they thinknits bad in omaha lol. Grass is always greener somwhere else. Maybe maybe not
whats funny all these people who move to Colorado Springs and cry about it..saying im leaving but they dont and they stay..
Once we give Colorado Springs over to Mexico, like most of the rest of the western USA, it will be an unpleasant place and worthy of leaving.
Also you better like snow at some capacity if you’re in Colorado because it’s super random. haha
Thanks for stopping by the channel!
Man idk how you can be homeless in a state like Co, that just sounds way to cold especially for someone living in doors let alone outside.
This homeless and housing issue is really happening everywhere, it’s sad.
@@Imjusttryingtotellu yeah i think the same
Best explanation for Colorado!
Oh I see. You sound idiotic when you use "woke" as something of a negative point.
