The only way for the crookhooks to be effective is if the car they're deployed against has a hitch. If the car doesn't have a hitch the cop will just rip off the back bumper when they brake
Love the pop up two way vehicle tire shredder. There are areas where people race trains by zig zag motion around the stop arms. Install these devices on the 'open' lanes to deploy whenever the arms are being lowered and retracted just before the arms go back up. Britain could really use this, and so can areas in the US. Hope they see it. The problem would be cost per installation.
@@crys4789 No, the shredding would be done after the vehicle exits the tracks and attempts to go on its way. Would take some figuring though due to the different lengths of vehicles, trucks, trailers, motor homes, etc. The examples shown were for car type vehicles only. Practical? Maybe not, but you've got to admit shredding tires would certainly prove a deterrent. Parking lots I know of have such anti-exit devices. They work. Train crossings in heavily populated areas could perhaps solve the problem with raised center barriers that extend for a block ... but then what of the track that closely parallels a roadway? Cameras appear to be used ... but do they capture the plate # and identify the driver? Bottom line can officialdom eliminate human stupid and irresponsible behavior? Nope. Love how these can all be stopped with slight mods. Literally just put a cap over the wheels and add skirting to the sides of the car so theres about 2mm clearance, and a small low friction wedge on the front to render the net useless.

Those car mounted systems look incredibly dangerous for real life scenarios. Hopefully they have all been throughly tested. It can’t only be like what was shown in the video where the driver just immediately stops after the device is deployed, because it’s not going to work like that. These devices are intended to be used when a person is trying to evade being pulled over/arrested. The chances of them just giving up and stopping are pretty low. They will continue driving no matter their vehicle’s condition making it much more dangerous for them, the officer and anyone else unfortunate enough to be involved
@@bobby1970 hopefully and that’s the general idea. All I’m saying is someone trying not to go to jail isn’t going to just hit the brakes. Whatever we do, we have to continue to show criminals that run that they can't escape. The worst thing we can do (which sadly is becoming more frequent) is to discontinue chases when the criminal begins to drive dangerously. The reason that is a terrible idea is two fold, first of all if we show them that they can get away if they just drive like an idiot, they will just do it more often. And also, often times when road units pull back and allow air units to track suspect vehicles, they crash anyway. It's a bad idea all around and we need to do the exact opposite, develop technologies and tactics that make it more difficult on the criminals!
