After looking at about ten different videos, your video FINALLY showed me my error. I wasn't putting the lookup data in the first column of the table!!! Took me like two hours to figure it out. Thanks a TON!!!
I saw so many videos regarding the VLOOKUP and the N/A error but none mentioned the most important part that the lookups should be in the 1st column and that's what worked for me. Thank you so much for this video.
This Video saved me ! I have lost two days watching lots of videos to correct my error with no luck. But this comprehensive and smart Video is the only one that helped me correct my error ! Thank you very very very very much !
@@FredericLEGUEN-Excel question: if I had car manufacturers instead of VIN Numbers, and 7 BMWs and 10 Toyotas and 5 Hondas for example, why do I get only 1 output if i have 7 BMWs using the same formula. it is only catching the 1st BMW row entry in the table.
@@ボリヴァ Yes, VLOOKUP returns always the first match. If you want to return more than 1 row, you must use the FILTER function www.excel-exercise.com/how-to-return-many-rows-with-vlookup/
Amazing hints! I looked up about 10 videos and I only found the reason to my error in your video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Saved my time!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I spent days trying to figure out why my Vlookup wasn't working and it was just having the lookup begin from the very first column.
Thank you so much... Im am really glad I found your video; I've been battling with ex 2 problem for a while and all I had to do was change the column and retry... so much relieve... thank you sooooo much!!!!
Another thing that screws me up all the time: The vlookup value (not the formula, the VALUE. The text it is looking for) MUST be in the first column. You for some stupid reason, cannot lookup values in any other column.

After half an hour I realised it was because one of my values has a space at the end....
Such common mistake 😉. It's always a good idea to clean you data with TRIM www.excel-exercise.com/remove-spaces-in-excel-with-trim/
Excel function VLOOKUP and choos returns #N/A, why?????????

There is 2 ways to return a result on the left column of research. The function XLOOKUP or the combination of INDEX and MATCH
Oh, my gosh. Thanks Lord, I read your comment. Just saved me a life.
