This get's me so hyped for James Gunn's Superman movie....He understands the importance of character development/ having a good story and dosen't have to simply reply on flashy visuals.
That’s what I said but I just hope he doesn’t overload the humor . I don’t mind humor especially Gunns type of humor but I just hope he doesn’t over do it that ruins the movie .
The first Guardians was the first MCU movie I saw in theaters back in 2014 and it made me a fan of the franchise and I’m actually in the camp who actually likes Vol 2 more. The Guardians, out of all the heroes in the MCU, are the ones I connect to the most being an outcast, hell even help develop my taste in music. And Rocket’s my favorite MCU character, so I already know this is gonna get me in the feels. I’m just so thankful to hear this movie is getting good word of mouth from majority of reviewers, because not only is this movie my most anticipated of the year but Marvel (and the superhero genre right now anyway) needed this. After Phase 4 was hit or miss and the disappointing aftermath of Quantumania, they needed a win. Hopefully this movie brings back that magic that has been missing in some of the recent films (Wakanda Forever, and I would even argue No Way Home and Shang Chi being the exceptions). I know people are gonna say, “MARVEL’S BACK!” because of this movie, but I would wait to see if the other entries coming out afterwards are consistently good, or at least hoping they are. I want Marvel to succeed and I’m not gonna give up on them, but I also want them to do better in the future, and hopefully if the movie is a success, they can take lessons from it. We need more directors like James Gunn and Ryan Coogler who actually bring a level of depth and passion to these movies. If you want people to stop saying “superhero fatigue”, then just put out better quality, because audiences have a higher standard on how good these movies can be and they ain’t gonna accept mediocrity or even if it’s fine. Started off rough with Quantumania and Shazam 2, but if Spiderverse, The Flash (If it’s as good as the early buzz say), and hopefully Blue Beetle & The Marvels are good, might have a pretty solid year for superhero movies.
In the specific case of Marvel, what they need with their movies is consistency. Because yeah by and large they've been hit or miss. The examples you provided with Wakanda Forever, No Way Home, and Shang Chi being exceptions, by and large are good examples of what Marvel can still pull off, but they're broken up by "lesser" entries like a Black Widow, Love & Thunder, and Quantumania. Like for every strong entry, there's a "mid" one. The people (fans) definitely want a RUN of back-to-back bangers that we got in Phase 3, as opposed to the hit-or-miss that were the first two phases. Definitely looking forward to Guardians 3 this week. Given that this kinda humor was never Korey's thing to begin with, I wasn't expecting him to like it as much. But hearing Martin & Julian's takes sound more my speed. We shall see...
@@thedefinitionisthis I mean he still liked it tho and seems like he did get some laughs out of it, same can’t be said for Ant Man and Thor based on his reviews. I know there’s some people (even some I’ve seen in the comment section) who said that after this, with the exception of a few entries, are done with the MCU. Which is fine, I get maybe they don’t like where the direction is heading or they just aren’t latched onto these new characters like they did with the ones in the Infinity Saga, but like I said for all of Phase 4’s faults and disappointments, it’s still had it’s bright spots that show that there’s still life left in Marvel, I just hope going forward we get better results. Pretend this was just a dark period for the MCU.
@@gcolbyp I'm considering this the "experimental period" of Marvel. They really took to heart the criticisms that the Infinity Saga (as engaging as it was), through their individual movies all felt relatively the same. Phase 4 definitely attempted to take some real creative swings and let their creators have more fun, so I give them that. However, they do still need to steer the course a bit better and really nail down how to land these newer styles of storytelling, so that they're actually good. We've seen glimpses of it being possible, but we haven't seen stretches of it, by and large. I also still feel that fans need to be a biiiit more patient, as it took us ten years to get to Infinity War/Endgame.... We're still at the building stages again.
I thought the high evolutionary was one of the best villains . I understood his motives and downfall. I especially loved the part how Rocket could solve the problem even though he had created him. Brilliant!!
The Guardians are the counterpart of the anime Onepiece. That's why I loved them. If you are an anime viewer, Phase 4 and 5 will have more light hearted and throwing jokes. the season ender will break your heart. It's a great story telling.
Starlord got a Zune at the end of Vol. 2 after Ego destroyed his Walkman. 3's soundtrack was either already on there or it's implied he downloaded it at some point.
I really loved this movie. The first one was pretty much my exact childhood dream of what growing up in space would be like. The second was forgettable, but this film was heart wrenching. Other than Spiderman and XMen (because I've been a life long fan), I think Guardians has secured one of my top spots for super heroes. I should start reading the comics. Mantis is up there with Storm and Jean Grey for me, in terms of my favorite/inspiring women heroes. I hope she gets a solo D+ special and they bring Draxx back but I know Batista doesn't want to play the character for a while.
Martin is correct in the sense that there was a visual key that if you missed in part 2 you wouldn't have known, if you haven't seen the Christmas special the scene is at the end of the special. If there is dialogue referring to that scene, then it may be confusing you could probably look it up online. It's literally a 4- or 5-minute scene won't take long.
I loved the movie ! I had no issue with the joking because it came in handy to keep me from balling THE ENTIRE MOVIE! Bravo Marvel you didn’t make this into a work agenda ! 😊
Possibly my favorite Guardians movie of the trilogy and I've loved all of them. One might be the best overall, but two still has the best villain. This one is definitely the darkest.
Same out of all of the movies in the trilogy, this is the best one and one of the few movies I consider perfect especially in the MCU. It's still the guardians of the galaxy but you still can see how much this movie and everything else really matured since the first one. I like antman 3 but this is what this movie should have been especially love and thunder. But such a great movie and loved it from start to finish
The discussion of the detail on Rocket's face reminds me of the Guardians of the Galaxy video game from a couple years ago. Really good work on him there too. I still recommend that game for the story and the Guardians' well-done characterizations.
Having watched Spider-Man Unlimited in the 90s, I never in a million years thought I'd see the High Evolutionary and Counter-Earth in a mainstream Hollywood movie. Damn.

The more I think on it, guardians for the MCU is what fantastic four was always intended to be. The family superhero team. And they do such a good job of it
I LOVED the first 2 Guardians of the galaxy movies. I used to even think that the second was a 10/10 and that the first was a 9/10, but after a few rewatches, I think the first is a 10/10 and the second is a 9/10. But this new one? Uh... well... My big problem is that the flash-backs to Rocket Raccoon's origin story was way too dark. Like, seriously, way too dark. It flet like a horror movie or a really dark dramatic oscar-bait movie dark.(Also, some of the creatures the villain made were too scary and ugly looking.) Some people will like that, but, while I'm okay with a movie having a few sad scenes, but I hate it when we have lots of them and this felt like a lot. Also, I usually hate scary scenes, which is why I hate horror. We get it, Rocket Raccoon's childhood was a living hell, can we PLEASE get back to the funny characters!? (Also, some of the visuals were just gross.) But the funny characters? Oh yeah, they're still funny, maybe even hilairious! People in my theatre/cinema laughed at a lot of the jokes, especially my dad, and even I laughed quite a few times. In particular, I thought Mantis, Drax and Nebula. In fact, I would say Nebula was the best she had ever been as a character in this movie! She's cold on the outside, but genuinely cares for some of her teammates, in particular Rocket Raccoon. Also, the ending was nice, (even if they did do something I'm kinda against) because it was an emotional conclusion to the series. Would I rewatch it? Well, maybe when it comes out for free with my Disney+ subscription. All in all, it was "a mixed bag", as the saying goes. Oh wanna know what the thing they did that I was against? Okay, SPOILER WARNING: The Guardians of the Galaxy split up. I was against that because I enjoy them being together and them splitting up was a bit of a sad idea to me.
Hey everyone, I just finally re-watched this movie on Disney+ and I liked it quite a bit more. I'd say it's now a 7/10 or a 8/10. The dark stuff was less dark this time around.
So basically, High Evolutionary is Samuel Jackson.😂 Also Quill has 90s/2000s music because he was gifted a Microsoft Zune MP3 player at the end of Vol2. & we know Guardians visit Earth.
The actor who played High Evolutionary, should be Kang. He's much more threatening than Jonathan Majors. Also they wasted Adam Warlock, and now I'm emotionally drained and depressed by this movie as a whole. I haven't been this depressed than Schindler List and I haven't been put on suicide watch since War Horse. 😢
At the end of GoG vol.2, Kraglin gave Peter a Zune player that Yondu was gonna give him. So the newer music isn't an issue at all.

In reference to why Quill has new music: it's because he got a Zune at the end of the second movie
And didn’t his original Walkman get destroyed by Ego?
If there’s more Guardians movies after this, let’s see how the new filmmaker pulls off this side of the MCU after James Gunn
Who knows I would like to see how Jon Favareu or Joss Whedon would do.
Nah Samuel L is probably happy not to be type casted.
@@Byronic19134 Wrong comment my man 😂
I thought the high evolutionary was one of the best villains . I understood his motives and downfall. I especially loved the part how Rocket could solve the problem even though he had created him. Brilliant!!
Man Korey's rating broke my heart. Now watch them make a Howard the Duck movie for the MCU and Korey gives it a rental.
Just saw the movie. It was good and a proper ending to Gunn's trilogy. I did get emotional in certain scenes.
Martin on the money again. Great description with the experimentation in the animals. "Its like something Sid would do in Toy Story."
I always love the villains in marvel movies, High Evolutionary sounds like a crazy good villain
He is the asshxle of all asshxles in this movie.
IMO high Evolutionary is a better villain than Kang
@@SterlingStarksIzHere fr
When Gamora asked what kinda man destroys a civilization, im thinking 2 myself well your Father is Thanos
No one does dark humor quite like James Gunn, lets gooooo!
At the end of Vol. 2, Kraglin gave Quill a Zune. That's how the music is more recent in this one.
22:33 It was the christmas special that revealed two guardians blood ties to one another.
I prefer how the Guardians video game handled Warlock. The team don't really take him seriously but he's still more true to his original character.
I loved the movie ! I had no issue with the joking because it came in handy to keep me from balling THE ENTIRE MOVIE! Bravo Marvel you didn’t make this into a work agenda ! 😊
Adam Warlock in this was basically Lion-O in 'Thundercats'. A 12 year old in a grown body.
That game was amazing, 100% agree
I’m about to play it again after seeing vol 3
@@starkraven1148 I was inspired to do the same after watching.
Having watched Spider-Man Unlimited in the 90s, I never in a million years thought I'd see the High Evolutionary and Counter-Earth in a mainstream Hollywood movie. Damn.
8:43 YOU ALL WANTED DARK, SERIOUS SHIT in Marvel movies. This is what Marvel COMICS are about: Conquest, Violence, Pain, Emotions ALONG with the funny, wild shit.
Introducing Adam Warlock after Thanos is dead is like making a Black Adam movie with no mention of Shazam/Billy Batson.
I have faith that Gunn can pull it off but its a missed opportunity.
Good thing the majority of the movie going audience aren't comic book readers because the complaints will be minimal when it comes to the Adam & Thanos connection.
@@DIZZYMANE exactly
Kinda feels like the end of the MCU with this one.
Who knows it might be the end of the Disney corny MCU as we know.
I always thought Drax and Mantis had kind of a romantic relationship but sadly never developed
Interesting, I had always thought of them as siblings.
I didn't stop crying the whole time… i couldn't catch my breath emotionally to enjoy the funny bits…
i thought the actor who played the high evolutionary was incredible. and the most effectively contemptible marvel villain EVER
I’ll be one of a couple of ppl who will say at the end of GotG2, one of the ravagers gave Starlord a Zune with several thousand songs on it. Thats how he got all the new songs.
Probably got newer ones before he left earth with Thor as well.
did y'all not realize he got the Zune from Kraglin in GOTG2?!?!? jesus christ
The sound track was great and the scene with the Beastie boys song was 🔥.
Probably one of the best action set pieces of the trilogy
That was the only good thing about the movie as well as finding out Rocket which everyone the( audience) knew he was especially the other characters.
No spoilers but I really enjoyed this movie, the ending was really amazing, I laughed, I cried & I had fun, but it is one of those movies that's really good but you can watch every once in a while
You lose Joe and Anthony. Now James. I would've never let anyone that directed any in the first 21 movies. That formula is diluted.
No Black Music in the Guardians movies, Martin? Really lol? Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terell? Sam Cooke? Jackson 5? The Five Stairsteps? Parliament? I could go on...
For real😂
Boo-hoooo
Not to mention Earth Wind and Fire all the reasons I told my brother who that was and he never knew.
Kraglin gave Peter an Ipod or something with new music in GOTG 2. I think thats where the new music came from.
its funny during the chat everyone was telling them Peter got a Zune at the end of vol 2 but they never looked at the chat
Quill got the new songs at the end of Guardians 2 where he's gifted a Zune.
Peter got a Zune from Yondu in Vol2. The songs would be way more updated time period wise.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, with the zune peter would have new access to more music.
First F bomb in an MCU movie, plenty of F bombs in Marvel films like Deadpool, Logan, and Blade movies.
MCU is owned by Disney while the other Marvel were distributed through other studios.
The moment I saw cute and innocent friendly animals in a James Gunn production. I was just waiting for the moment when it turned into Happy Tree Friends.
Korey trying to use the force to stop his sneeze might be one of the funniest shit I've seen in a while
@22:30 they 100% revealed that in the Holiday Special and NOT in GotG Vol. 2
I cried for the first time in a cinema over this
Its amazing how the music selected was efficiently diegethic throughout the film.
The Cage scene with Rocket reminded me of the Ghetto in the late 80's and 90's. Ya, were in a prison, but were in prison together.
The villain was an actual villain. I loved him
Peter Quill got his Walkman broken by his father, and later got a Zune from Sean Gunn's Character in the second one. Presumably 90s and 2000s hit would be on there
It was shown in GOTG Vol. 2 that Starlord got a Zune from Yondu that had a mixture of music from different decades on it. You guys need to pay attention. The music is not an issue
Man this film series was a emotional rollercoaster action ride.
9:23 James Gunn knew what he was doing here in this clip. And I hate the fact that it worked. 😭😭😭
21:58 THIS WAS THE FUNNIEST THING I SEEN DOUBLE TOASTED DO 😂😂😂
THAT piece of info is confirmed in the Xmas Special, not in the 2nd movie.
Jusr saw Vol. 2 again. And was reminded of Rocket's dialogiue at the end, surmised with "not pushing people away." Ended with a shot on him and a single tear rolling down his face. AmaIng how much of that scnene threads into Vol. 3.
Adam Warlock feels like Drax 2.0.
not a "Bad" character, and they use him well in the movie.
but he feels so much like a missed opportunity compared to all the great and big stories they could have adapted for him from the comics.
(Also, some of the visuals were just gross.)
But the funny characters?
Okay, SPOILER WARNING:
The Guardians of the Galaxy split up.
I really enjoyed the movie for the most part honestly best in one in a while and Howard the duck design was the best he's looked in my opinion
I was worried about this one. They messed up Thor, Dr. Strange, AntMan..
So happy they ended Guardians on a high note.
Star-Lord got to his new music from the Zume in Guardians of Galaxy 2
Robocop needs to put his mask back on lol 😄😄😁
I THOUGHT THE SAME THING
@@danieltobin4498 Yeah Hahahaha
That was a good joke I was thinking the same thing and then we Star Lord said it I was like yeah I agree with you😅.
The reason for the random soundtrack is he is listening to the songs on the Zune that Yondu got him in Guardians Vol. 2 at the end of the film.
