“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

Most Christians believe repentance is forgiveness of sins it’s a change of mind to believe on Christ

    • @Romans8-9
      @Romans8-9 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

This is wrong. Repent means to "feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin". It is not simply the changing of one's mind on belief, it is also changing one's mind on sin. Jesus didn't simply say repent. He said repent and sin no more.
      Romans 5:18
"Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men."
Man is condemned for unbelief and sin not just unbelief as Onorato says.

The Lord Jesus provides Grace for us to repent through His Blood, Word and Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord Jesus for leading me to repentance and leading me to Walk in The Light of Your Blood, Words and Holy Spirit.
Everyone needs to repent , turn away from sins and turn to God, then walk in The Light of obedience of The Teachings Commands and Words of The Lord Jesus.
I was wicked and evil for a very long time and live in sins. My life was full of hatred, lust after lust. I found forgiveness, Mercy and Grace ... now I am free of lust and free of porn by crucifying my evil desires and dying to sin daily only through The Grace of The Lord Jesus. There is hope in Christ only when we live in His Grace and in His Kindness and in His Mercy.

Yup. Repentance is needed first and then without Christ the person is hopeless. Just like Paul said at the end of Rom 7 oh wretched man that I am!! Who shall save me from the body of this death!! This is repentance. I’m a sinner. I’m hopeless. I need a savior. Then comes faith. I thank God through my (I love it when Paul says that) Lord Jesus Christ. There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus.

Been watching your videos, and one thing I can say : if you don't know beyond any doubt that you are saved, or if you are always wondering if you have gone too far and lost your salvation, or if you don't understand the 6th Chapter of Hebrews, you can essentially forget being able to stand in faith for anything. Guilt and condemnation will always win out. Legalism has probably disabled more Christians than Satan ever thought of doing himself personally. You are doing a great job addressing the issue of eternal security, and dealing with things that have needed to be dealt with for a VERY long time ! As I look through the selection of your videos I am quite pleased because you keep dealing with all the things I have always wondered about, but never got a satisfactory answer to !

So glad I stumbled upon this clip. For years we have had certain "conservatives" railing against the necessity of repentance, and shouting "Legalism! Legalism!" because they mistakenly think it means to change one's behaviour! The only thing I would add to what our brother has said is that the original word refers to what the Greeks called the "Nous," which is more than a superficial thought, but our real understanding of the things Onorato spoke about. It is an understanding which (as we might say today) "I feel in my guts" It is far more profound than a passing mental assent. Again, thanks, brother.

Most people will still sin after receiving the Holy Spirit, because we are still in flesh. But we still trust that its paid in full by Jesus.
      Galatians 5:1-15
1 Corinthians 6: 9-12 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit to or perform homosexual acts, 10nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor verbal abusers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
12“Everything is permissible for me,” but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible for me,” but I will not be mastered by anything.

The Lord and the prophets He sent all connected repentance with turning from sin. Why should we not agree with how He used the word? "Metanoia" can be defined as change of mind. However, as those who want to know what the Lord is teaching in His Word, the spirit of the word is important, not just the letter of the word. The Bible, from start to finish, expresses that God hates sin - Jesus died to destroy sin's power over us - He wants us to flee from sin, to Him - and live!

    • @AmyB1961
      @AmyB1961 ปีที่แล้ว

@@chrisanok9283 You'd have to understand what "salvation" is, first of all.
When Jesus died on the cross, he paid the price for ALL sin. This means that NO sin is unforgivable. All sin is covered by the blood of Christ. All one needs ro do is BELIEVE on Christ and his finished work.
Jesus conquered Death. Jesus' shed blood purchased Eternal Life for ALL of Mankind.
How does one get "saved?" Again, by believing on Christ's finished work of conquering Death!
A man is drawn by the Holy Spirit of God to Christ, and to salvation.
To reject the working and power and message of the Holy Spirit which brings one to the knowledge of how to get saved is to "blaspheme" the Holy Spirit. It is this rejection OF the Spirit of God's message of Christ as the remedy for sin, and then dying outside of Christ that is the one and only "unforgivable" sin. Because, again, ALL sin is covered by the blood of Christ, and belief of that fact is what causes a man to be born again.
Therefore, it is dying in UNbelief which is "unforgivable," because prior to physical death, a man must acknowledge and accept the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Dying without Christ is to remain in one's sin, and to remain in the dead spiritual state every man is born into.
A man is body, soul, and spirit. It is the spirit of a man which must be brought to life, and the only way to do this is by believing on Christ Jesus' work on the cross. A dead-to-Christ spirit may not inherit any part of the kingdom of God, and will only remain in Death and be cast into Hell along with Satan and his angels.

    Question brother, what is
For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season. Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

I just recently learned that repentance means a change of mind from this video. This whole time i was sucked into the whole fasle teachings of "repent from your sins" but at the same time i also believed that Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross was what saved us. I literally bekieved that repent meant saying sorry and feeling remorse for our sins. I would even say a repentance prayer .. i feel so dumb and even a bit of anxiety.. i feel like i really messed up... I do believe that salvation is a free gift from God, that Grace is free. But i was also sucked into the whole repent from your sins.. i told God that i had no clue what i was falling into and that I was sorry. I feel so stupid. Can't believe i was believing that. I would even tell others to repent.. yikes. 😢 I watched a lot of street preachers and i just didnt reaize i was going down a lie. I feel like a total hypocrite. 😢

    Acts,16:31 *
    * I like this vs. so much because it is so explicit in it's message... I will attempt to break it down in regard to it's verbs..from the original Greek text...The vs. says ,Believe on the lord Jesus Christ ,and thou shalt be saved....Believe is the main verb...it is a aorist active ,imperative of the greek verb Pistos ,to believe. The aorist tense is a point of time that you believe. This is a special aorist tense that takes this point of time and perpetuates it into infinity..The active voice ,the subject ,produces the action of the verb, you believe. The imperative mood is a command. Saved is sozo, a perfect passive participle .A participle is an auxiliary verb that supports the main verb..The perfect tense show a completed action. The passive voice unlike the active voice ,says the subject (the one believing in Christ)receives the action of the verb rather than producing this action...In this case he receives salvation. So based on the original text The vs.is more accurately translated. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and at that moment ,you are saved for ever and ever..
    * Notice repentance towards sin is not mention because a spiritual dead person is not capable of doing anything to save himself.

Where is the scripture that validates your stance on repentance?

  • @homeylinz
    @homeylinz 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Christ asked for "repentance" and turning from sin, the women in John 8:11 "She said , No man Lord, And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee (forgiveness), Go and sin no more" In your theology Christ should have said "listen I know your going to sin but, don't worry I got you covered". Repentance is not just a change of mind it is a change of direction . You watering down the definition does disservice to scripture. John the Baptist preached all the people of Israel needed to repent of their "SINS" not change their mind. He was the forerunner of Christ who baptized Christ and Christ affirmed.

Through changing your mind, you will be born again and put sin to death by the power of the Holy Spirit. Salvation is a gift of grace. To agree with that as a lost, desolate sinner is repentance. Jesus saying go “sin no more” is what He says to all of us, who have been saved.

Peter says"Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'"The verb repent demands an object, It is saying repent of what. My question to you is what is the object in this vs, It is asking what do I change my mind about. If you guessed sin ,you would be wrong like so many who see this vs. The object of the verb in this sentence is Jesus Christ. It is Changing you mind that you receive the Holy Spirit. That saves.,

You can still tell people to repent of their sins, because that's what will ultimately happen. To repent is to change your mind, BUT ULTIMATELY, once you do that, you will also change your actions (sinning). Repentance always leads to a change in actions, not just a change in mind.

When we believed Jesus as our Savior, He wrapped us in His righteousness, making us perfectly clean before God. We will have all eternity to thank Him for His amazing grace toward us! Those who refuse to believe Him and reject His full pardon for sins, will pay the price for their sins for all eternity in hell. And yes - He calls us to live holy lives - He sent His Holy Spirit to fill us, lead us on the paths of righteousness for His name's sake, and use us for His glory, so the world will see the light and love of Jesus in us.

Everything in the New Covenant is about faith.
Under the law it was about what you do but under the New Covenant of Grace it’s about what you believe
The ENTIRE Bible is making a comparison between law and Grace, works and faith and how the flesh which is self effort works in tandem with the law to work earth while Grace through faith brings life.
When you tell most works based Christians that Paul called the law the Covenant of death they get confused and even deny it
It’s pretty crazy because they love their gold star getting, law keeping religion.
The thing is that it’s important to not only understand the characterization of both the law and Grace and teach them in contrast to one another because one you see how they’re polar opposites and what they represent it’s obvious what we’re being taught.
It’s just that we’ve mixed the covenants due to a gross lack of understanding of this principal and works based salvation just really isn’t defensible once you actually look at scripture
The thing is there aren’t very many scriptures that really push that narrative but the less you actually read scripture and compare the verses that seem to contradict each other you just have to throw out Romans or Galatians altogether or play a really crazy game of Twister to make things say what they don’t

  • @zebra2346

Most Evangelicals get the theology of biblical Repentance wrong. And I've only recently understood what biblical Repentance is. Most think it's doing a u-turn and turning away from sins. But this isn't repentance, this is the FRUIT of repentance.
Repentance is actually a gift from God and the power of the holy spirit and we are Incapable of repentance on our own. Repentance has basically 2 parts. Part one is the Law, in that we become aware of God's Law and we are terrified of a holy God, knowing the horrific consequences of our sins against Him, eternal damnation.
Part two is the Gospel, turning to Jesus Christ by faith for the forgiveness of our sins, Christ keeping the law perfectly on our behalf and paying the penalty for our sins on the cross.
In summary repentance is conviction under God's law that we are sinners and that we deserve hell for our sins, and then turning to Jesus Christ by faith for the forgiveness of our sins. That's what repentance is.
Turning from our sins is the FRUIT of repentance, and should flow from the knowlege of God's kindness and His salvific works on our behalf, but turning from sins is not in itself repentance. Let's be realistic here ok, we all know it's impossible to be morally perfect or keep God's laws for even 10 seconds. There's a pound of flesh in everything we think and do, and every day we sin in thought, word, and deed.
So repentance isn't something WE do, because it's a gift from God. Instead we should constantly be looking to God and what He has done FOR US in the person and work of Jesus Christ. We're way worse at keeping God's Laws than you think! But as Christians we are no longer under the Law but under grace. So we need Christ and the gospel in our focus 24/7 to constantly remind us that God will never disown us or even look at us with disfavor when you sin, and in fact He sees you as perfect as Christ is perfect.
Our only hope as Christians is to trust/have faith in Jesus Christ as our only assurance of salvation, instead of looking at our own works, and our complete inability to keeps God's law for assurance of salvation. Faith in Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins will bring us peace and joy.
Conversely, hyperfocus on our inability to not sins and constantly wondering if we are doing enough "christian things" like prayer or reading your Bible will only lead to doubts and despair. Don't look at your own failures at keeping God's Laws, but look to Jesus who kept God's laws perfectly on your behalf and paid your sin debt so you can be forgiven, freely, by faith alone, without the burden of God's laws crushing your spirit. That is the simplicity and the beauty of the gospel.

I still believe the calvinist doctrine of total depravity, LCMS does too, and I believe the doctrine of TD is clearly taught in the bible, that the Spirit gives life and the flesh doesn't. but it also teaches us plainly to repent and believe the gospel. This is a mystery that the bible gives here, but as long as there isn't a contradiction. Then I just embrace the mystery
