Outstandingly good beginners guide perfectly narrated. Others should use your vid as a model on how to do it! I'll watch through it a few more times before I get the game. I've got quite a few hours in BF1 but, it's rare to find a squad that will work as a squad (they want individual kill ratio and I play as a proper support class) and the hackers have become too common. I've been looking for a game with the beautifully gritty look and feel like BF1 but with actual teamwork. Hopefully the HLL community is patient with us that are a bit slow and older (65). If anyone thinks it would be out of my league ... please chime in, I don't want to waste my time (or theirs) and money. Thank for the great vid 👍(subbed ... you also have racing vids!)
Thanks Rob, really appreciate it! The Hell Let Loose community is one of the best there is so don't worry about being "slow and older", 9 times out of 10 you'll get all the help you need from simply asking in squad chat what you need to do :) Depending on just how slow and realistic you're interested in getting though, there's another game similar to this called Post Scriptum with much more of a focus on squad-play and realism, and much much less about the kills you get a long the way. You might want to check that out before diving into Hell Let Loose just so you know all options before hand :) I've done a review on Post Scriptum as well as a Hell Let Loose vs Post Scriptum comparison video if they'd be of any help. Anyway I'll quit yapping, see you on the battlefield! :)
Good Guide. I'm playing HLL for 200 hours know and its one of my favourite Games. Especially as SL and Commander. And I'm Happy to See there are people like you who give new players such easy videos to help them. Every beginning in games Like HLL, Postscriptum, Squad etc are very hard at the beginning. But the fun part comes when you understand how everything comes together. And then you play your first round as Commander, win a game and you know: i got it.
very good guide! I remember that after reading and watching lots of guides I still got a realistic new recruit traumatizing experience on my first game and then the grueling learning curve for months, it's part of the HLL charm for sure

Just had a go blind and am way out of my depth of what I should be doing and why. This is just what I need a guide which explains everything including things that might be obvious to some but to me are not.

I wish I found this video sooner my friend was telling me how crazy hell let loose was and how good it was and I managed to get a PS5 so I downloaded it and I basically self taught myself how to play and after a lot of angry people and moaning I learned I’m good as medic or automatic rifleman I still had some things I’m trying to figure out and this is extremely helpful thanks redcoat Viking I appreciate the content
good job, i think commander interface(map and orders) should be different, maybe orders and airsupport on the left side off the map and vehicle support on the right or something like that so you dont need to scroll in the battle, after update 12 there is more and more different orders and request on the lists
I saw a clip on a guy with a MG gunning down on Omaha beach. I bought the game on the spot. I played for 3 hours before I could get into a MG role and oh God did I murder everyone. This game is amazing.
Wow. I had NO IDEA the game was this deep. Thank god I decided to watch a beginners video before playing for the first time. Since you obviously cant run & gun i hope that means there won't be any toxic players or annoying little kids
This needs to be linked in the HLL main menu screen like how BF used to do it. So many people running around no Gary's No OP's no SL's its really bad right now it seems.
Would help if they added a small sandbox practice map, as whenever I come back I completely forget how to play. The player base is full of genuine human beings so at least I don't feel unwanted when coming back to play. Thanks for the video!!
0:57 Every matched I joined had all it squads locked and rejected my requests to join so i had no other choice but to create a squad. I was always by myself and had a very poor first experience
Right now there's a free weekend going so the player base is filled with new players that might not be fully invested in it. I hate to say it, but most of us just wait out these free weekends and start playing again once they're over otherwise it's just too frustrating (which is why everyone's locking their squads to control who's coming in and out) :P

One thing bout artillery. Today i had a game as commander. We had two non speaking artillery ppl that did nothing of note and just kept shelling away. My resources depleted fast and i couldnt place bombingruns etc. wich lead to us losing the game at the end. If you wanna play artillery you should always communicate and follow orders from command/sqaudleader. I think in all my games about 10-20% of them had GOOD artillery. Usually its nonexistand or bad🙈😅. I play on playstation mostly aswell on pc it might be different
Too bad HLL doesn’t include things like videos from you or the other awesome content creators in the community as “tutorial” videos on the home screen like in past Battlefield games. Would definitely help educating the low levels on how not to ruin the game for everyone else lol
Yeah that'd be a nifty feature, and would save them having to make their own tutorial (or just carry on with no tutorial whatsoever like they do now lol).
I went into a game as a complete noob in HLL and mil sims more generally. I thought I might figure it out on the go. Sure, tooltips are helpful, but I landed up angering most of the regular players in my squad and then being bored to death having no idea what to do. Still not sure whether I will return it or not. nice video, one question thiough: can halftracks function as spawnpoints anywhere on the map? or are they like airheads limited to 2 blocks? edit: another dumb question: does the supply despawn or can a support drop their junk, wait a moment, then drop more and build a garrison in enemy territory with a officer?
Good questions! Halftracks: They're also restricted to 2 grid squares into the red zone, but if you drive them deeper into enemy territory and shut the engine off, they will automatically become a spawn point once you capture the previous sector. Supplies: Supplies never disappear on their own, but they can be destroyed by the enemy. It's possible to place your supplies as a support and then wait until they refresh and drop them again to be able to build a garrison in the red sector. *** Apparently this isn't possible anymore. You can also drop your 50 supplies, then change class and let someone else in the squad take the support role to drop another 50 supplies immediately, which is faster but also more hassle than just waiting for yours to refresh. I hope that helped!
first match today and every single time i was killed instantly. even when spawning in friendly territory a ways back teammates would shoot me. when i finally was able to ask why, they said because your new and your garbage. if joining a random server and they all immediately dogpile on a new person then no one will start to learn and actually play. this is the problem with player run servers in any game, if your lucky people are nice, if your not then prepare for toxicity. i refunded the game after 20 min, going to buy hell divers instead.
Other than "join a clan", not really. If you're on PC I recommend playing on The Circle servers as I rarely meet no mic Nancy's there, but it's really just hit and miss.

Can someone help me with game freezing every time? I hear a short white noise then the game freezes and I can only shut down my PC. I have an external usb sound device, but I even tried it on the other sound device (realtek), and it happens again.... :(
Playing this on the free weekend, and I want to like this game but it's been a bit disapointing so far. 1. Medics never seem to save anyone, asked on the server why and guy said it was a useless class 2. Guy on my team with a truck ran me over with a truck on purpose. Then when I complain about it he starts team killing me and insulting me. I'm like I thought this was a game for grown ups? 3. No one seems to say much. Squad leaders running off by themselves, no one giving direction to new players. Maybe I was just unlucky with the servers I was on, or maybe this game is just overhyped?
Well I think ultimately the answer lies in the very reason you decided to try it out. It's a free weekend, so right now the game's full of people that don't have a clue what they're doing or reflect what the actual community is like. Most veterans (myself included) avoid playing the game altogether during free periods, because I find it almost unplayable. My advice is if you enjoy the look and feel of the game, then buy it while it's on sale and start playing it once the free nightmare is over lol.
hey anyone know of servers that are open? i want to play and learn to play but I'm spending more time trying to find a server that i can connect and join.
I hate the toxic players because for example i'm new to the game and guys like that make it hard to get to learn this game. And i really want to learn it because i'm sooo sick of playing cod "mw3" (mw3 isn't a game just an over expensive dlc) and battlefield and also because of how realistic the game is and for me most of all because you have to communicate and play as a team to win...
about 6 good games in after a 2 year break? not sure tried it out right after release and hated it. Now im actually trying to enjoy it and 3 matches of trying to fortify a spot i gave up on that, next is to try and get the AT gun set up to have some fun but the grind might be too much trouble. Other wise it would be a fantastic game to use my little free time these days but my goodness its a waste of 30 mins if your team loses that one point.
I quit the game over a year ago for playerbase reasons, significant cheating, and balance issues. How well are the two sides balanced? How is one side's standard rifle being a bolt-action instead of a semi-auto compensated for? Is this a good enough perk to compensate for the lack of Rate of Fire?
That kind of fictional balance isn't really wanted and it's one of the main selling points of Hell Let Loose for most people. There's plenty of "compensated" weapons in other games already, but in this it's more about how well you move and work as a unit, rather than relying on the weapon alone to simply out-gun and flick shot your opponents. The team's and factions are balanced fine, with all sides having weapons that excel in different situations, but if you run around a town on your own with a Kar-98 without planning your next move and trying to get that mad KDR like it's Call of Duty 2, you're going to have a bad time.
That was all I really use to play after they fixed the game but started playing this and it made me intimidated my first game and made me radio silent and pretty much just stick with riflemen. as I kept playing and observing what other people were doing and zeroing in on the map, you get an idea of whats happening. definitely helps as well when you’re in a laid back squad
@@RedcoatVikingYT They really should have a tutorial mode with bots or something. Tooltips are helpful, but I sense it angers veteran players moreso than even us noobs when we join a match and accidentally do or don't do something we should or shouldn't.
That's video editing so you can see what I'm aiming at :) There's no way to zoom in further beyond holding shift to hold your breath and zoom in a tiny bit more than regular iron sights, but nothing as extreme as you see in the video. Thanks for watching!
You probably move around too much. Movement should be deliberate, and if you don't know where you should go or why you're going there, it's best to stay still and look for enemy movement yourself. The moment you move, you make yourself very visible in this game (just like in real life)
From what I read in the comments and talking to people in game who also own it on the PS5 it's a good experience, it just lacks some basic quality of life things like a server browser which often leads to only a select few maps being in rotation which gets boring. Also the communication in the console community isn't quite at the same level apparently, I've heard there's a lot of no micers and griefers running around but there is on PC now too so it's just people being people :P
Played for a couple hours got banned from a “new player friendly” server, because they locked all the groups and got salty because I made my own squad cause I couldn’t get into the other ones. Uninstalled right after

I haven't played Hell Let Loose at all in a few months and stopped making content on it half a year ago. All I can say is it would never have happened in the game and community I knew when I played it regularly. Now with it being released on gamepass as well I can only imagine its best days are behind it, but maybe I'll jump on and find out some time! Sorry your experience sucked so much
If you don't see them actually go down when you shoot them, then the best practise is to consider them still alive and approach with caution until you can see their body. You hear a satisfying "ding" sound on a headshot though which is 100% confirmation that they're dead and cannot be revived.
Game is great but I don’t understand when people say it’s a very non toxic game because most my games with people I get team killed and people always shitting on other people I’m game chat
That's unfortunate :/ I only see that stuff rarely, and then they're dealt with quickly by admins. I find the best moderated servers are: The Circle, BEER and Finns Let Loose. Check them out and see if it helps :)

Yeah...this game clearly isn't for me. I'm falling asleep of boredom just listening to all this, and that's how I felt playing it too. Too confusing, too complicated, and not fun. I want a slightly more hardcore Battlefield. This is more of a simulator than a video game.

Me and my buddy just started playing and despite dying pretty much all the time the game is a ton of fun especially artillery and armour

Playing this on the free weekend, and I want to like this game but it's been a bit disapointing so far.
1. Medics never seem to save anyone, asked on the server why and guy said it was a useless class
2. Guy on my team with a truck ran me over with a truck on purpose. Then when I complain about it he starts team killing me and insulting me. I'm like I thought this was a game for grown ups?
3. No one seems to say much. Squad leaders running off by themselves, no one giving direction to new players.
Maybe I was just unlucky with the servers I was on, or maybe this game is just overhyped?
Well I think ultimately the answer lies in the very reason you decided to try it out. It's a free weekend, so right now the game's full of people that don't have a clue what they're doing or reflect what the actual community is like. Most veterans (myself included) avoid playing the game altogether during free periods, because I find it almost unplayable.
My advice is if you enjoy the look and feel of the game, then buy it while it's on sale and start playing it once the free nightmare is over lol.
hey anyone know of servers that are open? i want to play and learn to play but I'm spending more time trying to find a server that i can connect and join.
You forgot that Support also can see Recon Plane pings on the map.
Commanders should at least be able to put down blueprints for nodes for faster resources.

Not that I know of. I think they made it like that to make people work together as playing a vehicle solo is a pain in the ass :)

I hate the toxic players because for example i'm new to the game and guys like that make it hard to get to learn this game.
And i really want to learn it because i'm sooo sick of playing cod "mw3" (mw3 isn't a game just an over expensive dlc) and battlefield and also because of how realistic the game is and for me most of all because you have to communicate and play as a team to win...

about 6 good games in after a 2 year break? not sure tried it out right after release and hated it. Now im actually trying to enjoy it and 3 matches of trying to fortify a spot i gave up on that, next is to try and get the AT gun set up to have some fun but the grind might be too much trouble. Other wise it would be a fantastic game to use my little free time these days but my goodness its a waste of 30 mins if your team loses that one point.

I quit the game over a year ago for playerbase reasons, significant cheating, and balance issues.
How well are the two sides balanced? How is one side's standard rifle being a bolt-action instead of a semi-auto compensated for? Is this a good enough perk to compensate for the lack of Rate of Fire?
That kind of fictional balance isn't really wanted and it's one of the main selling points of Hell Let Loose for most people. There's plenty of "compensated" weapons in other games already, but in this it's more about how well you move and work as a unit, rather than relying on the weapon alone to simply out-gun and flick shot your opponents. The team's and factions are balanced fine, with all sides having weapons that excel in different situations, but if you run around a town on your own with a Kar-98 without planning your next move and trying to get that mad KDR like it's Call of Duty 2, you're going to have a bad time.
If you feel underpowered as a German, play machine gunner until you unlock the MG42.

That was all I really use to play after they fixed the game but started playing this and it made me intimidated my first game and made me radio silent and pretty much just stick with riflemen. as I kept playing and observing what other people were doing and zeroing in on the map, you get an idea of whats happening. definitely helps as well when you’re in a laid back squad

@@RedcoatVikingYT They really should have a tutorial mode with bots or something. Tooltips are helpful, but I sense it angers veteran players moreso than even us noobs when we join a match and accidentally do or don't do something we should or shouldn't.
at the beginning. How did you zoom in extra with iron sights?
That's video editing so you can see what I'm aiming at :) There's no way to zoom in further beyond holding shift to hold your breath and zoom in a tiny bit more than regular iron sights, but nothing as extreme as you see in the video. Thanks for watching!

I die more often than I see enemies is this normal?
You probably move around too much. Movement should be deliberate, and if you don't know where you should go or why you're going there, it's best to stay still and look for enemy movement yourself. The moment you move, you make yourself very visible in this game (just like in real life)
Basically play it like you're actually there, and let your natural instincts keep you alive :P

Anyone have any insight on the PS5 version of this game? I’m sure PC is way better but it’s not an option for me so I was wondering. Thank you
From what I read in the comments and talking to people in game who also own it on the PS5 it's a good experience, it just lacks some basic quality of life things like a server browser which often leads to only a select few maps being in rotation which gets boring. Also the communication in the console community isn't quite at the same level apparently, I've heard there's a lot of no micers and griefers running around but there is on PC now too so it's just people being people :P
Basically, it's a similar but better version of Foxhole.
I mean I guess... In the same way that humans and hamster are the same thing, sure :P

Played for a couple hours got banned from a “new player friendly” server, because they locked all the groups and got salty because I made my own squad cause I couldn’t get into the other ones. Uninstalled right after

@@claysmith3141 The game has changed a lot over the last year so reading this 11 months later I can say I'm not surprised. I haven't played Hell Let Loose at all in a few months and stopped making content on it half a year ago. All I can say is it would never have happened in the game and community I knew when I played it regularly.
Now with it being released on gamepass as well I can only imagine its best days are behind it, but maybe I'll jump on and find out some time!

Tbh i've only had it happen like twice in 4 years... 3 times if you count the time I threw a molotov at a friendlies face to make a short.
Can someone tell me how you get confirm kill ?
If you don't see them actually go down when you shoot them, then the best practise is to consider them still alive and approach with caution until you can see their body. You hear a satisfying "ding" sound on a headshot though which is 100% confirmation that they're dead and cannot be revived.
Game is great but I don’t understand when people say it’s a very non toxic game because most my games with people I get team killed and people always shitting on other people I’m game chat
That's unfortunate :/ I only see that stuff rarely, and then they're dealt with quickly by admins. I find the best moderated servers are: The Circle, BEER and Finns Let Loose. Check them out and see if it helps :)
@@RedcoatVikingYT ohhh well I play on ps5 and we don’t have an option to select servers. It’s only a quick play type deal, so that’s probably my biggest problem. But I appreciate the advice, hopefully I can get the game on my pc soon

1:40 lies, played for 4 hours and only managed to get one squad to teach us some stuff for like a minute until they gave up and switched squads. The rest of the matches no one said a thing

I’m new and I have had endless support. Try talk to anyone that will listen and ask for advise and shadow them. I joined the discord too which had been massively helpful

Yeah...this game clearly isn't for me. I'm falling asleep of boredom just listening to all this, and that's how I felt playing it too. Too confusing, too complicated, and not fun. I want a slightly more hardcore Battlefield. This is more of a simulator than a video game.
