You are such a neat person. Not only do you teach with clarity, but you are kind and humble with your followers. You are a great example as how to be a "good human!" Regarding vanguard etf's, how do they work with Ameritrade? Does Vanguard charge Ameritrade extra for offering them?
Thank you ShepherdsGma, I do know that TD Ameritrade sells Vanguard funds. In researching it, it doesn't look like they charge extra for offering them. You can always just buy the ETF version as well which is available at every brokerage
Hey Humphrey! Awesome Video as always! Quick question: Which do you prefer? Investing into index funds / etfs consistently every month Or saving and then investing larger amounts into the fund / etf when they dip and their price is cheaper?
Last week I opened a Stocks and Shares ISA on Vanguard here in the UK. I invested in a FTSE 100 fund and an S&P 500 fund. Your videos finally pushed me to stop waiting. Thank you!
In high school, 1% was considered a very small number but in the financial market, 1% will also eat up all your earnings 😳 Thanks for the awesome videos Humphrey!!
I have been absent but I am playing catch up with your two most recent videos! 1.) thank you for the time stamps! It makes it easier to follow the video just in case I missed something and I can easier backtrack back to that topic. 2.) thank you for sharing about vanguard because I have been torn between them and fidelity and after watching this video, it’s clear I’m putting my money in Vanguard! 3.) I think you would be awesome in teaching a class/webinar about finances! Will elaborate on that via dm but I would love to have you speak at a Military Science class to prospective officers who have received scholarship (up ~40K for 4 years + $420 monthly up to 10 months) and how they could invest their money! TLDR: your videos are great and I hope to message you soon about a collaboration effort!
Thanks for the video. Super insightful! QUESTION! When you open a Roth IRA account with Vanguard, do they automatically invest your money in their index fund?
From my experience, No they do not! Money that you put in your Roth is actually deposited into your money market that you then designate which funds you want to buy with it.
Humphrey, love your videos! Do you have any resources for short term investing? I’m planning to buy a house in 2-3 years and what to know what’s the best thing to do with my future down payment until then.
Entertaining and informative! Thanks Humphrey. I was wondering if I already started my Roth IRA at Charles Schwab, how easy is it to switch over to Vanguard? Or would I want to start a new one there? Thanks!
It's not that hard, I think you can contact Charles Schwab on how to do that - but if you already have your Roth IRA at Schwab you can probably just keep it there and buy Vanguard ETFs
@@humphrey yeah I’m curious to see how vanguard’s etf patent pans out post-2023. It accounts for more and more of index funds. It’s interesting but wondering if worth it to opt for etfs... I found a post via boglehead from 10 years ago... it was interesting and made me think twice
If all index funds are a reflection of the stock market, how do you choose which ones are better than others? Why Do they say you have to watch ETFs versus keeping index funds for life? Aren’t they both equally diverse?
Hey love the videos keep it up! I got a question for you it’s not really relevant to this video but I need a second opinion from someone with experience. During quarantine I’ve been designing shirts, hoodies and long sleeves. Amazon has this ‘merch’ thing where they will make and ship your product for you. Do you think it’d be better to buy a printer or go with amazon and see how well It goes first?
I think you should start with printing it yourself and shipping it yourself. It'll be more work but you'll learn alot more about the business, the margins of the business, and in the long term will probably be more successful in doing so
I have my Roth IRA with Vanguard in a target retirement fund. If I want to convert this into ETFs, do I have to sell of it and keep the money in settlement fund to buy the ETFs later?
I dont know much about Gold but I can consider it in the future, I know it's not the best investment out there, but Ill do some research and see if theres enough there for a fun video
To make extra cash rn I’m delivering food with DoorDash. You won’t get rich from it but an extra 150$ +/- a week on top of your regular job goes a long way.
Is it possible for a bubble to form? I'm worried that so many people my age may be just starting to get into this stuff and, just like the real estate market, there's going to be so many people investing thinking it's essentially free money, that it actually ends up causing problems, creating a bubble, and popping.
Its interesting, when you go Index you start to think like Bogle, not worry about what the fund does over a day, or a week or a month but what it does over years,
My only question here is where does your profit come from? I understand once you purchase index funds/ETFs but how do you get a return? Do you sell? Basically I don't understand how the rest will take care of itself once I invest
Index funds aren't worth your time.... 401ks do index funds but with compound interest, and instead, I would just do a roth 401k! Basically, index funds not through a retirement fund will make you less money, but you can pull it out whenever you want, but instead, I would just to single stocks like I invested in nVidia and 2 days boom up 25%. If you're gonna do index funds, just do retirement. You will make more money in the long run!

Quick question:
Which do you prefer?
Investing into index funds / etfs consistently every month
Or
saving and then investing larger amounts into the fund / etf when they dip and their price is cheaper?
You caught my interest through tiktok 😂 love your content man. What are your thoughts on the FXAIX index fund compared to vanguard
Much appreciated! Thanks for being here in the comments. It's very similar to the Vanguard one so you can't really go wrong.

I watched your Roth IRA video where you showed your portfolio. I just want to ask why is it all ETFs and not Index funds?
Thanks for the video. Super insightful! QUESTION! When you open a Roth IRA account with Vanguard, do they automatically invest your money in their index fund?
From my experience, No they do not! Money that you put in your Roth is actually deposited into your money market that you then designate which funds you want to buy with it.
No they do not. Heather is correct.
Wow that’s a bummer... 🧐 get with the times; I get the interface to discourage day trading, but automatic deposits align with the passive strategy.
Hi Humphrey, can you do a video on differences between admiral shares and investor shares? Thanks!
Admiral shares offer lower fees compared to the standard Investor Share-class Vanguard funds!
Humphrey, love your videos! Do you have any resources for short term investing? I’m planning to buy a house in 2-3 years and what to know what’s the best thing to do with my future down payment until then.
Tyty for all your informative videos! Fixed my beginners investing mistake from your past video and this video really be helping 😂😆
Great to hear! Neko Thank you for the comment :)
Is there a downside to buying the ETF version of index funds?
Solid video man
ty man!
Yaaaasss Humphrey, Yaaaasss VTSAX! Most informative video yet! THANK YOU
haha the EXCITEMENT. Thank you so much, Heather

Why leave Schwab? The returns are nearly the same for their S&P 500 fund and Total USA stock fund.

What about the taxes on the profit from the investment ? Does it get taxed every year or 40 years from now when you decide to retire and pull it out ?
Gains are taxed when they're realized (sold)! Unless its held in a Roth IRA or TFSA.
Hi Humphrey does Vanguard offer the option of buying a part of its index funds that costs 3000$? Or any of their other funds to be fractional?
The topic I have been waiting for. Thank you humphyboo!
Thank u for always being in my comments :D
👍🏽👏🏽 i keep coming back to these videos

I only invest with Vanguard in an Index Fund, specifically VTSAX
Hell ya, VTSAX gang!!
Can you make video about investing in gold
I dont know much about Gold but I can consider it in the future, I know it's not the best investment out there, but Ill do some research and see if theres enough there for a fun video
Can you make a video explaining the difference between an MPI and Roth low fee Index fund?
I can def consider it, appreciate that idea ;D
What about Fidelity?
Fidelity is a good brokerage. Nothing bad there.
FSKAX, FNILX, FSPGX, and FTEC are all great funds from Fidelity.
This guy is great!
What do you have to say about VOO from Vanguard. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you,, Stephanie 🌺
I love it! One of the better ETFs from Vanguard :)
Thank you.
Is 5% one time fee for a mutual fund good?
Thank you for this video! It’s been so helpful.
This video was very informative thank you
Literal Goat 🐐
Ty man
Is it possible to invest through Vanguard as a non-US resident?
I believe so, you can buy the ETFs from abroad I'm pretty sure.
GREAT INFORMATION!!!ℹ️ 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😤😤😤😤😝👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽 thanks 🙏🏽
Alright but how do I get that initial 3000 to invest in the index funds?
To make extra cash rn I’m delivering food with DoorDash. You won’t get rich from it but an extra 150$ +/- a week on top of your regular job goes a long way.
Haha yeah I need to make some money to talk about how to generate more income!
Hey, how did you make your intro?
Fiverr
Hey, nice intro!
Glad you like it :D Thanks Eric
Is there a how to video?
you Are the Best.

ETFs are a great way to stay diversified without keeping track of many companies. But picking companies is more interesting haha!
Well said!
1,1k likes. One dislike. The numbers speak for themselves.
quality
My 401K is in vanguard 😄
Nice :D
My only question here is where does your profit come from? I understand once you purchase index funds/ETFs but how do you get a return? Do you sell? Basically I don't understand how the rest will take care of itself once I invest
The profit comes from 1) appreciation of the fund yes, and 2) the compound interest on your returns of the appreciation of your funds.
One person can have a few index funds ?? Or do not one ☝️??

Not to mention the employer match
Any professional knows they are great in a bull market but flawed in a bear market
Lol, you cons aren't really cons since like you said, as long as money coming in, who cares what's going on in there haha
