I was deep in the Sargon hole and I completely believed all of that anti - feminist, anti - immigration rhetoric that they peddle and it took one of my friends to force me to watch your channel and your videos. I can honestly say it is upsetting to realise just how wrong my views were and how easily I had let myself fall for all of their unfounded, ignorant faux intellectual bullshit. Don't feel bad for yourself. Reactionaries can be very convincing because they say what they believe with such certitude and know how to hit all the "buzzwords" that can trick viewers into thinking that their arguments are intelligent, but picking apart the nonsense is an order of magnitude more difficult than producing it in the first place.

The men in that video are Kenyan. Swahili Kenyans (the dominant cultural group in that country) are one of many non-western cultures that have a traditional concept of a third gender, so TJ's stereotyping is even lazier than it at first seems.

Muxes on mexico are another group, like these people, we included, have lived all our life on Judeo-Christian cultural values and practices and they can't grasp that the world, cultures and humanity are way more complex than what "common sense" tells you to think.
Also as for arab cultures, many of them recognize gender transition as valid as well as recognizing non-binary genders. TJ should know about this quite well given that he (supposedly) has studied the bible and ancient middle-eastern cultures.

If he wanted to be nuanced with the idea that certain African groups displayed such behavior (and let's be honest, as a fan of TJ's old work, that's a pretty big stretch) then why did he clearly just google "african men" and take one of the first things he saw? Why did he take a picture from a video about stereotypes of African men? Why did he then portray a stereotypical African man?

Terms like heteronormativity don't mean 'most people are straight' it means being straight is the only *accepted* way to be, that if you aren't straight you aren't 'normal', and that's considered a bad thing. To combat cis-heteronormativity is to work towards a society where people can be whatever they identify as and not be ostracized or attacked for it, which they weren't in the cultures OP mentioned, as well as in a number of others.

It's just the way we use the word. Yes, women are not a statistical minority. We refer to them as a minority because that word had been used to describe other groups that have been historically oppressed by whatever society, but this is just a convention. We could just come up with another word. Women aren't a minority, they are a HOG (historically oppressed group.) Boom did it. HOG is the new terminology.

I ended up resubscribing to Cult of Dusty since he lost so many of his other subs after speaking the heresy that SJWs might not be the greatest threat facing the world today.

I feel like Cult of Dusty may actually be the only reasonable one left. Even though he is pretty much hated by the "skeptic community" he does make some dumb points but his ability to point out both flaws in both the political spectrum is admirable even if I disagree with some points.
Just like to give a shout out to Hugo and Jake for anyone scrolling through these comments a year after the fact. As of November 2018, they're still chill and reasonable, and still talk primarily about religion, and while they try to stay out of drama and just get along with people, they have on several occasions talked about how it's a shame that they skeptic community swung right into anti-feminism a couple years ago. I also personally find them really funny, though of course you may not, and though some may have slipped past me, I can't recall them making punching-down jokes, and as a queer person I tend to be pretty sensitive to that.

To a trans person coming out, disagreeing comes across the same as someone disagreeing when you tell them you're allergic to something, something that is absolutely not up for debate.
But the sad thing is that plenty of people disagree with other people's allergies too!

I watch a lot of TJ, and he's not exactly hiding his bisexuality. And I'd like to mention, in response to SomeonesReview, is that his stance on trans issues AFAIK has not changed - he still (as he has for as long as I've seen him mention the trans issue) supports peoples' rights to be trans and not be judged for it.
And I think S&J's labeling of him as a racist is quite silly, but I guess it stems from my own perception on how humour and bigotry should not be confused. But, again, this is something that other S&J watchers will not agree with me.
I believe it because the idea that he could still think some of the things that he said in this video after falling in love with a trans man is absurd to me. That said, I don't know for sure that his opinions have changed. I could be wrong.
As for his sexuality and his past relationship, I do have evidence of those. He describes himself as bisexual on his Tumblr page, and a quick google search will give you plenty of results of him referring to himself as such. I used to like TJ, back when I was an angsty teenager and basically all he did was troll religious people. Then he jumped on the anti-SJW bandwagon (a bandwagon that I still can't believe I also jumped on for a little while) and slowly became less and less interesting as time went on.
He's still far better than most people in the anti-SJW crowd, though, and politically speaking I think he's fairly progressive on a lot of issues, so I'll give him that.

Dang I remember watching TJ like 7 years ago. I thought he was insightful...maybe not in retrospect.
He was never great but he was definitely not as downright awful back then.
Off the top of my head, there was one video of his that I thought was quite good. He took (and failed) a literacy test from the 1960s that was designed to suppress the black vote.
I first found TJ Kirk (or The Amazing Atheist when I initially started following his content) in 2011. Being an angry teenager, I did gravitate toward his abrasive delivery and rejection of many mainstream opinions and views, but I later found many of his espoused viewpoints to be both poignant and refreshing. The first video I watched was one where he criticized comments made by Sharon Osbourne on her TV show “The Talk” related to a woman who had cut off her husband’s penis after drugging him and thrown it in the garbage disposal of the household sink, as well as the subsequent audience applause. He pointed out that no one in the audience (or mainstream society) would find it even remotely acceptable to treat any similar hypothetical sexual, bodily violence against a woman with such frivolity, highlighting a double standard in Western society toward violence against men and women. I even enjoyed content that was created primarily for shock value, such as the burning of a copy of the Quran in response to backlash from Islamic religious authorities toward similar actions (to be fair, he also burned a copy of both the Bible and “The God Delusion” by Richard Dawkins in the same video, the latter being mostly to mock the outrage against book burning in an age where almost all literature can be accessed digitally).
Admittedly, I have not watched his content regularly in years, and I have never agreed with 100% of his stated values, but I find it hard to dismiss his entire body of work outright.
TheKalihiMan I feel the same. He's sometimes spectacularly wrong but sometimes righteous and inspiring. I'll always check him out from time to time.
Interesting that TAA broadly mentions "Africa" and "the Middle East" when there are actually what we would consider transgender populations in parts of both of those regions of the world (the female husbands and whatnot) who are arguably treated better than trans people here in the West. If he had named actual countries or incidents, it would have strengthened his argument, but that would require research or actual general knowledge of things. For someone who is part of that whole "logic over emotions" crowd, he seems to be spouting a lot of emotion-driven assumptions without many facts, unlike your well-researched video, which he would probably consider ess-jay-dubba-yoo drivel.
Uh, no, broadly speaking trans people have it better here than in Africa and the Middle East. Not only trans people, but women, gays, religious minorities, linguistic minorities, blacks, basically the west is the best if you give any care at all about equality.
