    Sean, I've seen comments that mth z4000 transformer is a full sign wave tranformer which mth engine like vs lionel transformers cutoff sine wave which can damage proto 2 and proto 3 mth engines. I have 30 mth engines and 15 mostly legacy lionel engines.but, my new lionel updated zw version has sat new, unued , fearful it might damage tha already problematic mth engines. Have you guys heard such concerns? I do have a 60 yr old zw also

    • @seanstraindepot
      @seanstraindepot  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not heard any issues with the ZW-L and MTH engines. I think electronics being damaged gets way overblown sometimes. I have derailed and shorted many Legacy engines and then reset the transformer and they have always worked. I have not heard the MTH guys say any different. I plan to run my MTH engines using my ZW-L.

    Man, why do I live on the West coast in Portland, boy that's a long drive! I Watch your drive to Nicholas Smith Trains I spent over $10,000 on railcars, engines, track and I wasn`t there, the only thing that comes close is whistle-stop trains in Portland. Charley has a good selection but not as Nicholas has. his post-war trains are in one cabinet and the premier line is in a 4x6 space. and rail-king is on the other side!

I asked; they pointed second floor and after entering second floor yelled " whoa" My wife made a lot fun about my reaction, fortunatelly I bring some relatives over there most of them reacted same as me, proved NST is wonderful place to visit.

    Thanks for the video. Other than train shows I have bought
    many new and used trains from Nicholas Smith. As you noted the store carries
    almost anything you would want in O scale and does have plenty of stock in
    other gages. They also repair trains so if you are not handy fixing your old
    trains they usually can help get it running again for you.

    I had a place out here in the west stocked similarly, where I got my start going “deep”. I say had because much of their stock was divested upon death of one of the proprietors. No online presence and no ability to ship so they were an enclave of gems. Receipts are still written in ink on pad by the 80+ year old remaining owner. If I’m ever in your region I’ll have to take a look for hidden gems there.
    Sean, very nice to see your new found approach and changes to your channel as I’ve watched just about every one since “the build”; keep it up.

    It's been a couple of years since I've been there. Bought my Lionel Reading Heritage SD70 from them.
    Is this your go to place?
    Contact Just Trains of Delaware in Newark. They should have the TIU.

  • @johnwalker6121

    Went there looking for a post war caboose truck with coupler. They were very busy so I was taken to the back and pointed toward the rows with just boxes of old cars and parts, found my part. Was in some way rather sad seeing all the old trains in boxes that were probably loved by some small child back in the 1950's. Just can't image what's in the off-site warehouse. You could spend several hours just looking at all the inventory and making impulse purchases. As mentioned on the video, their web site does not represent everything they have for sale.

    • @seanstraindepot
      @seanstraindepot  ปีที่แล้ว

      Since this video was made, they moved all their offsite inventory to the old Speed shop that was in the back of the store, so everything is onsite now. But all the stuff in the old speed shop is new inventory, not used. All the used stuff is in the back area where you found your part.

    Man this was a great trip to Nicholas Smith Trains with you explaining where we were going. NS train store was my best source for buying train items in the 80's and 90's. I envisioned them as being some fantastic big store somewhere out there in Penn. I got the beautiful Williams brass Norfolk and Western with the passenger cars. The Lionel Santa Fe ABA withe chrome passenger cars and Lionels 700e w/case all in 1991 I've never run them because I never got around to building the layout that I desired for many years now I'm 82 and I am in the process of selling all my beauties.
