Can I suggest growing some strawberries underneath your asparagus. I’ve found that my asparagus does extremely well with it as a companion planting. I am gathering more berries and spears than before

I am on the Treasure Coast of east Florida and I have been growing a large asparagus plant continually for 3 years now and this year I got a pretty decent harvest from it with very tender and tasty shoots. I didn't know it was supposed to be difficult because I have had no problem at all. I got the plant(s) in a 6 pack from Walmart and just put the container right in a self watering planter box. Iij n fact I was even able to get 2 new plants this year from planting the seeds of my current one. The new plants are very small right now but are doing well.

Pakistani mulberries are amazing! On my land the first years after my mulberry trees began to produce the fruits were disapointing; skinny, quite sweet but flavorless...then all of a sudden they began to produce awesome fruits! Gigantic fleshy delicious mulberries! The trees just needed some time to adjust to my soil...

I live in bartow we are only 20 min apart. i have i very similar situation with the heat in my yard, my yard is on a hill in between a steaming canal and a sun baked road so even when the surrounding areas got down to 26 my papayas didnt even get burned. Also there is a 60 well 40 foot( they pruned it) mango tree across the canal. Been there for 40 years the lady said. And its very Exposed. I would love to come over and see what tou got going on. My food forest is only about 2 years old and most of it is only a year to 6 months old but its really starting to take off. I could gain alot by picking your brain... guess thats what your vids are for, glad i found your channel. Still would love to see it in person that would be dope.

I finally found you Josh! Really interesting you're mainly growing Sh3640 and namwah, because I spent the last few years trialing a bunch of bananas varieties in 9A(citrus county), and Namwah, SH3640 and Orinoco stood out to me as being the best at recovering from heavy frost. Though, the Orinoco is just a guess because its a banana I find growing and fruiting in wild near kings bay, and it makes very square angular bananas, so I figured it was Orinoco. Even out of these 3 Namwah seems to be the best at handling cold ime. I really want some of the plants you showed in this video for my 1acre food forest, Ill keep an eye on your store, but I would rather pick up.
I love what you have growing on. I am trying to do the same thing here in the virgin islands. The frur tree and other tree our local nursery don't have and other farmer in my area are not growing. Keep us posted on when you web site is up, because I need some of those plants.

Excellent!! I may be ordering rom him in the future! We need more like him! I noticed on many of his bananas the lowers leaves are falling down before they are done, this can indicate a calcium deficiency possibly too acidic soils preventing nutrient uptake.
Thank you for sharing your botanical natural food garden. Many of the crops you grow I do know them because I used to live in a topical island. And most of life while growing up surrounded by the jungles. Where food was everywhere especially the breadfruit trees and just many many plants like coconuts are always available. Sad thing tho, there are more different types of pest that migrated into the island and is killing the coconut palm called the Rhino Beetle. And many other types of insects that I’ve never seen before. Anyways, you have such a beautiful food garden.

Believe it or not I once saw a fruiting mangosteen tree in Lake Alfred...but I do know some farms in South Florida pull it off, Miami Fruit, for example, Everglades Farms too, I'm pretty sure.
Great project with awesome variety. In my experience Maha Chanok produces more predictable and over a longer period than Nom Doc. They are my top 2 from the roughly 15 varieties I grow.
How do you go about finding rare varieties of alternative food crops? I search the net tirelessly for rare varieties of taro, malanga, edible dahlias, etc. However I almost cannot hardly ever find any. I'm everywhere on forums and websites like permies etc asking for these things. I own a small edible exotics nursery in Northern Florida and want to provide super rare alternative crops as well. Look forward to hopefully talking with you.
Not an expert but I think they will sprout a new shoot at the base of the plant. Most people will chop down the original banana cut it into small pieces and use it to feed the new sprouts. Placed around the new plant as one would do with mulch.

The mulberry leaves are huge on that skinner variety. Deciduous? Free mulch😎
