  • In today's video I want to show you how you can make your own snow to use in crafts. Only two ingredients you need are baking soda and mod podge, glitter is optional. This is so easy and can be modified in so many ways. Let me know what you think. Hugs, Joanne

    Our forecaster says we will not have snow this Jan in southern VA, so for those who yearn for it, they can make up some of your snow and pretend! This is a great project. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Joann a very interesting project.A way to make snow, that’s fantastic.Sometimes on surfaces where there’s snow, you want to enhance or make it look cleaner. It makes it look vivid and real. A very good find you’ve discovered.A ice pond with glistening snow. 👍👍❤️❤️🌹☃️☃️☃️

    What a super idea for snow. I never would have thought of that. I used to use "Spackle", a drywall hole filler. A tad stiff but you could make points out if it. like stucco. Great diy joanne...i have used the Fake snow that you purchase but it seems like it dries out before you can use it again the next time which is expensive and I have also tried using glue and epsons salt and that is kind of messy but I will definitely give the mod podge and baking soda a try it looks like it works great!

    • @batthriftcrazy1959
      @batthriftcrazy1959  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is one of the amazing things about this mixture, just keep in sealed in a zip-loc bag and it will keep for our for a couple of days, although, as I mentioned, it will thicken up the longer that it sits. Funny, once the air hits it, as when you are working with it, it doesn't take long for it to start to harden. Have fun. Hugs, Joanne

      Hi Linda. I found the Snowbaby skaters in a décor piece where the skaters were supposed to move around when the piece was plugged in, but it didn't work. I knew this when I purchased it, but I thought I could use the figures and the trees for a project at some point. Have fun with your Grandkids doing this. And no matter how messy they get, the mixture cleans up with just water from the skin. My hands are compliments of my Mom, she had beautiful hands - thank you so much!! Hugs, Joanne

    • @batthriftcrazy1959
      @batthriftcrazy1959  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Snowbabies, the tree and the paper came from a piece I hauled a while back. It was Snowbabies skating on a pond and was supposed to move around but it was broken (I knew that when I bought it). I took it apart and used the Snowbabies, a tree and part of the pond as the surface for them the skate on. So glad you liked it. Hugs, Joanne

    I just tried this method on my dollhouse roof, but this morning i see rust color coming through the Soda and Mod Pogue mix I made it thick on the roof too. i wonder if the baking soda reacted to the wooden roof wood ? It is just a plain wood without shingles or primed. but also I see rust color coming onto my painted white decoration gingerbread too .

      @batthriftcrazy1959  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sorry this happened to you. I has been a long time since I did this technique and I believe I did it on a white surface. I know I have not done it on a dark surface. It sounds like it may not work well on a dark surface, and it would need to be painted white first before applying the 'snow'. I hope you are able to fix your project.
