    I have the single channel iRig PRO I/O and it is fantastic. The phantom power (just like on the DUO) allows me to use a high quality condenser mic to capture acoustic guitar, vocals and video (simultaneously) with super high quality on my iPhone. The post processing capabilities of the included iRig Recorder App are really good - you do have to pay for some of the processing plugs-ins like compression, volume leveling, delay, etc., but it's not expensive and well worth it to get a pro sounding recording. I'm considering getting the DUO as well, for the added flexibility of using two mics for podcasts, or for having separate inputs for guitar and vocals. IK Multimedia gear is very easy to work with and they have tons of inexpensive (sometimes free) software to make everything sound even better.

    • @geekazine
      @geekazine  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I use the Duo for a lot of different things. From my show, to bringing in my band's mixer, to stereo micing. It's really great.

    • @FairlaneDaveTX
      @FairlaneDaveTX 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Geekazine I can definitely see the DUO being worth the money. I’ll use the single channel PRO I/O for capturing quick ideas or even guitar and vocals over one large condenser mic, but the DUO opens up a lot lore options and is portable for when I don’t want to (or can’t) use my Yamaha mixer with a USB out.

  • @englinesianvodcast6929

    It would be nicer and useful if the unit applies standard USB connection instead of mini DIN. I don’t know whether it affects the audio quality but the mini DIN seems like dealbreaker for me since the replacement is not available in my country. The only one solution to replace the cable, if it is broken, is by buying another irig unit that comes with mini DIN. The cheaper unit is iRig Pro I/O.

    • @geekazine
      @geekazine  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They used this type of cable since they started. There are other devices that use micro-USB instead of DIN, and was curious as to why the Pro Duo I/O uses this connector. I have never lost my cables, so this is not a deal breaker for me.

    I’m looking to use this in the most basic sense- just wanna record unprocessed audio. Can I run this in mono? If not could I just use one mic with a Y cable? Do you think there would be a noticeable difference between this and the irig pro I/o with the high bitrate? I thought it would sound good to mic a cab with one channel and have a room mic on the other or should I just go for the single channel

      I have a question regarding the optional power supply that you can buy separately for the iRig pro duo io.
      Does the optional power supply charge your iPad/iPhone and the IRig pro duo io while in use.
      Or does it only power the IRig pro duo io by itself and not your iPad/iPhone while in use. I can’t find any legit info on this subject and have noticed the IRig powerbridge is no longer being sold by ik multimedia. Thanks !!!

    How does it compare to the iRig Pro Duo I/O? Mostly I'm interested in latency and noise level (because I'm looking at it for a live looping setup, so latency is super important). If I'm not mistaken the iRig is 24 bit/48 kHz. Does that mean the Evo 4 will have noticeably less latency?

      If you use their iRig Recorder app on your iPhone or iPad to record the video, there are several post processing effects that you can add and they work really well. If I'm doing something like acoustic guitar and vocals, I'll add a tiny amount of delay, volume leveling and then some mild compression and it sounds fantastic after you export it. I compared it to the on board effects on my Yamaha MG10XU mixer with a USB out (instead of the iRIG PRO) using a usb to lightening adapter to my iPhone and the iRig post processing options were quite a bit better.
