I never expected last year to be quite exciting for Nico! The announcements of her returning in the Midnight Suns video game (with her TV actress reprising her role) as well as the upcoming Spiderman: Freshman Year animated show gave some hope for the rest of the Runaways to return as well in future adaptations. 🙏🏾
now that's a lot I didn't know about nico..seeing this makes me think if I started reading the runaways comics and the other comics with her in them she'd be my favorite..keep up the great work I love all the videos you do

I always assumed that she let Nico go after the anime-esk “if you survive this pain you’ll be stronger - bring it on!” power up sequence. Maybe it’ll be elaborated on in the new run? It was a callback to Chase holding Future Gertrude, where the question of what to do next popped up and Chase responded with that they "rip his damn heart out". Later when Chase was against Victor joining, Nico persuaded Chase by saying if Victor did anything wrong they'll "rip his damn heart out". And then when Chase did his whole thing with the Gibborim and Victor asked if Chase can be allowed to stay, Nico responds with that they'll "rip his damn heart out". I liked this callback considering the very same phrase Chase used was used against him, and its repetition reinforced that idea. It was even a small callback during another story later on after the Runaways broke up, where Victor "dies" from having his own damn heart ripped out after doing something irredeemable (becoming horribly addicted to Vibranium and killing a child while getting high). It was somewhat of a bittersweet ending, for Victor at least, as he was always afraid of becoming Victorious and he believed dying was the only way to defy fate (it was still pretty tragic for everyone else). :)
wait but can i ask did Gert's storyline of her being not only leader of the avengers but living long enough to see the new Avengers go any deeper than just a time travel arc??

Originally, I thought the reason the Staff of One and Nico's Witch Arm reverted was because Chase changed the timeline by saving Gertrude (as shown that Nico does not remember burying Gert's body, causing Chase to reveal time must have shifted). But because the A-Force picture in the shifted timeline had the Witch Arm and Nico refusing to talk about her fixed arm when Chase asked, it's probably a story for the future. Probably some magic shenanigans for the arm, but I'm interested to know how the Witchbreaker Staff of One reverted to the original Staff of One (or more accurately, the future version since the Witchbreaker version originated in the past). :)

I had always assumed that nico got away from her granmother cuz she finished her training. I figured she didn't escape somuchas she was let go after she had breasted through her painful training

Man you're right. Alex began this series as a de-facto leader of that team. He just didn't really open up to the others much or see himself as fitting in because of the bs twist the Marvel writers had for him (which is not a surprise because they don't know how to write interesting stories for melanated individuals.) Nico did not start out as the leader.
