Went to Traver school from Kindergarten until I graduated from there in 8th grade.
I did a history project on it in 5th grade.
Traver was once considered to be the capital of CA because of the vastness of wheat. (Lol the video probably already stated this, but i don't have the volume up.)
    So much has changed there.

George Nord was my 3 grade teacher in Traver school. Mr. Roof was my principle.

Same here, Mr. Nord was my 3rd Grade Teacher and Mr. Roof was the Principal at the time

Same for me! I went to school there still when Mr. Nord became principal. It was so weird to read that he had retired.

My brother and I grew up and lived about a mile north of Traver on the Fink farm/ranch on Ave. 376 50 yards from the old Traver Cemetery. attended grade school at the current school from 1952-1960 and attended and graduated from Kingsburg High school in 1964. I was a wonderful area to live and grow up in, I cherish the memories! Rowland was the owner of one of the stores in Traver, where the post office was located found out that the US Post office was going to build a new freestanding Post Office and supported me to be the postmaster but I was too young for the powers that be at the time so I was past over. Shortly after I moved to Indio Ca to follow my Fiance and her family that moved there where we got married and raised our three sons. Sorry for carrying on so just an old man that remembers Traver, all my friends and teachers there with fond memories!

Goodness, Mr. Nord was my principal when I had lived there as a child... before this video my memories of Traver seemed like a dream from a different life.

Bravo Farms is a fun little place to visit if you have kids, living in Fresno and always visiting Disneyland, we always make a pit stop at Bravo Farms for lunch , my daughter loves it.

It's a neat place we wish we could've got some shots of them making cheese too like we saw them do back in the day.

My grandma lived in Traver from the early 1950s until after 2010. Two of her three children were born while she lived there and I lived there with her from 2005 to 2009. My mom and her brothers attended school and grew up there. Its nice to learn something about a place which is very special to me. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Ashley! You might spot her house somewhere in the video, we shot just about half the town I think.

This was a nice video to see. It barely scratched the surface of Traver's interesting history. perhaps it will instill others to look into it further.

Hopefully! Our videos are meant to just be brief windows into places, small time capsules, it'd be great if someone did a full documentary on Traver, there is definitely enough history there! Just the bit on it from the McCubbin Papers really tells a lot.

My family would pass by in the 1950s-60s on the way to visiting relatives in Visalia, Bakersfield and Delano. We would talk about the name but never stopped.
My dad's family was from Noxen, Pa originally. His father was a steam shovel
operator who worked on a lot of the Southern California river, road and water projects from the 1930s-1970s. Both their names were Ralph Egbert Traver as was the great grandfather from Noxen, Pa. None of our family lived near Traver that I ever knew of.
My mother's family were dust bowl refugees from Texas, she was born in Bakersfield. Her father was the behind the scenes Filipino negotiator that started the Grape Strike and convinced Chavez to join with the Filipino Union (Benjamin Gines).

Thanks for sharing Garrison! Did your grandfather by any chance work on the Friant Dam? We're doing an episode on that in a few days.

Thank you, we were really impressed by the people who spoke to us and how prepared for us they were. George Nord did a fantastic job of gathering these people to be in the video and presenting the information in an informative and cohesive way.

I can't find Sibleyville on a map, is that a former town? Hanford is actually one of the towns we recently shot in.
