I lived there for a few years. My uncle still has his two houses right on 66. Silverlakes is really nice. But it has a bit of rift raft. If your looking for it. Drugs. But very little. No where is perfect. I was not into that kinda crowd like my sister. So I saw the beauty! I would live there again any second of any day! But the catch 22 to live there is a HUGE HAO that's super strict. You have to pay to use any amenities including the lakes. And are super strict about the out side of houses. There is only grass for the richer ones! 😑 So love rocks! Lol And gets really hot. So you are gonna want to use that lake! But bonus is, it has it's own schools that are really good! T ball fields.Anything you need is there with in the walls of the community. Our house was on the main road across from north lake.Everybody brings their kids from all over to trick or treat! Like 600 to 800+ kids! I loved it but some of the old folks didn't. It's one night and then they all leave. But I think it's worth it! Truly out of the rat race but close enough to see Dr.s and hospitals and do shopping. ❤
Hi Paul and Candace, this is the first opportunity that I have had to watch this amazing presentation of Helendale, I happen to stumble upon it, and sure glad I did. Silver Lakes is such a great community to be a part of, I am happy that La Casa Grande was able to accommodate you during your time of filming, we welcome you back anytime. We are here nestled in the desert with our home away from home, waiting to welcome and accommodate those that want to experience this Hidden Gem! Ciao! 💜 Shout out to Mindi for her representation for La Casa Grande
At 2:20 the house down the street that looks like a ball used to be my house. Oh gosh am I fond of the memories I have living in this town. I sense that a change is coming there soon, but back in 2010 it was so great to live there. The peers, the high school, the Clubhouse, it was so good to live in that town. I would buy a house there, but I just can't return to California now, its a real shame. I still visit at least once a year, I love the town, Hate California. Oh Silver Lakes.
This town really is the best kept secret in So Cal. Absolutely so wonderful to live there, if you don't mind the 16 mile drive to Victorville. So attached to this place. Talking about beer, I've drank a lot of beer on South Lake. That bar is one of the best bars I've ever been in, the atmosphere at least. What was said about lifelong friends is absolutely accurate. Best friends, lifelong friends are made here people grow up together here. Sunny evening walks around the lake are wonderful experiences. Perhaps I'll live here when I'm old, if the town hasn't gone to complete **** by 2055...(someone check then, know it was great town.)
I think it's a little too off the beaten path to really go downhill at the same rate a lot of others in the state have gone. It attracts only a certain kind of resident for the most part to live there it seems. Still, by 2055 lord knows how things will be. We all had a tough enough time surviving 2020.
We used to live nearby. I remember the local community being concerned about how much water Silver Lakes would consume. We sold up in 1985, the water table was dropping and we feared that our home would become worthless
A relative of mine is moving into the Silver Lakes community in about a month. Anyone know how warm the lakes get during the summer? Can't find any info about water temp. Also, is the temperature in regards to weather, as hot as Barstow or closer to Victorville's temps?
Not sure about the water temperatures, you can probably ask someone in a facebook group for Helendale and they can answer that question for you. In regards to the weather, it's halfway between Victorville and Barstow however it's probably closer to Barstow's climate overall. The plus side is unlike Barstow when it is hot you can always hop in the lake's swimming area to cool off!
Moved in about a month ago now, and my family and I love it 🥰

That house stood out to us too, so cool you recognized it in the video. We shot pretty much every street in town while we were there too.

I would like to know how close is the nearest hospital ... I too have a friend interested in moving there soon, & am asking for her elderly mother.
