  • The Room Reveal starts at minute 11:00 and goes to 26:53. Minute 26:54 gives data on what was purchased and how much the room update cost.
NOTE ABOUT THE ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT CUTTING/PRESSING TABLE:
I did not cover the cost of that table here, as it was the one piece of furniture I brought in from my previous small craft area. The table base was purchased as a gift for me from my husband early in 2018 from Amazon: amzn.to/2F5DrFF This particular base has been unavailable for some time, but the page link does show similar recommendations. My husband then bought a sheet of oak plywood from the hardware store and had it cut down to 30" x 60". He varnished the top and added some oak trim. He also constructed a drawer and added that to the table. The cost of the base at the time was around $180 and the wood and hardware was around $60. I took one of the left over pieces of oak plywood and made a pressing board with it (I used a tutorial by Sharon Schamber: • Sharon Schamber - The ... ).
    OTHER ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT TABLE OPTIONS:
If you are looking for a manually adjustable table that comes with the table top, I have purchased the 52" Adjustable Height Husky Table with Drawers from Home Depot and I love it! www.homedepot..... You can see a little more about that table in my video here (starting at minute 19:17 and ends at 20:00): • Flosstube #94 Stitchy ... . IKEA has the SKARSTA table in two different lengths: www.ikea.com/m... . I haven't researched either of those yet, but people who have talked about them say they love their tables!

I love your room. The one piece of furniture you did not cover in the cost was the movable table. Where might I get that table?

    • @StitchALLTheThings
      @StitchALLTheThings  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I should have covered that as well, but didn't think about it as it was the one piece of furniture I already had in my old small craft space and didn't purchase it recently. I'll have to make a note in the description box about it! Thank you for pointing that out!
My husband bought the table base off of Amazon: amzn.to/2F5DrFF
Unfortunately this particular base has not been available for quite some time, but there are others that are similar there. (I added the link since it also will pull up similar recommendations.) My base actually happens to be adjustable in the width as well as the height. My husband made the table top and drawer out of oak plywood with some oak trim for the edges. I took one of the left over oak plywood cuts and made the pressing board that stays on the table top. The table top I have ends up being about 30" x 60", but with the adjustable width base it could have been made bigger or smaller.
I am in a Sewing Room FB group and recently someone asked about a similar type of table they found at Lowe's ( or maybe Home Depot). Several crafters had that table and loved it. Other crafters mentioned they had found a table like it at IKEA. I haven't researched either of those, but it seemed as if all of the tables came with the table top. You can also find these electronically adjustable in height, rather than manually adjustable.
I hope some of that information helps!

In doing a quick search as I updated my description box, I found IKEA has the SKARSTA www.ikea.com/ms/en_US/usearch/?query=skarsta and Home Depot has the Husky table www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-62-in-Adjustable-Height-Work-Table-HOLT62XDB12/301810799. Both have them in different lengths.

I did the same thing at Ikea. Had my list. We took the doors off the closet and had a custom unit built in. Then, I used drapes to cover the closet because the unit had drawers in the center. I love how colorful and cheerful and well organized your sewing room is. Plus, you gave me some terrific ideas. Your husband is a great supporter and love his ideas for the rulers and thread board. You two are a great team. 👏👏👏👏👏

I was watching Country Stitchers and they suggested I watch your Craft Room Makeover. It is fantastic!!!! Love it and you are so lucky to have such a supportive husband. I have a lovely Quilt Studio in our lower level with a Horn Cabinet that my Janome Horizon sits in and a closet full of fabric. I now have so many quilts and have switched to Cross Stitch. But, like you..... I would never sew in the lower level in the evenings - I do my stitching beside my husband in the evenings and we or I should say HE watches either football or now baseball. Enjoy and Happy Stitching and Sewing.... xoxo Maryann

Great make over, really like that you included the cost. Also you can tell that it was well planned and designed. You both complement each other the way you worked together on the room. Especially like the kallax unit placement. This by far is one of my favorite craft rooms, it offers charm, personality, and functionality. Well done!

I just stumbled on your video today in 2021. I did my own sewing room three years ago. I too put threads on a spool rack ( yours is much better than mine), but now I’m reconsidering its design because I now have a cat🙀 who has discovered every spool and bobbin and anything else hanging on or around the rack. Also, I began to realize 2 years in that the spools get quite dusty (due to lint) in a sewing room. Just told husband today we need to readdress this issue. New design will be more cabinet-like with glass/plexiglass so my threads are protected from the cat and the dust/lint. You did a great job! It really is a treasured room where a true sewer cannot wait to escape to!👍

Sounds like a great plan, especially with the lovely feline about. 🤣 I use a horsehair attachment on my vacuum and remove the dust once a month when I clean/dust my room.

Christine, your room is awesome. It is obvious that you put a lot of thought in to exactly how you wanted it set up. Your excitement and enthusiasm make me want to tackle the mess I call my sewing room.

Thank you! I yell, you. As excited as I was about this room, I was equally as unenthused about going through all of the supplies and figuring out where everything was supposed to go.😂😂😂 Worth it in the end, but what a bunch of work that was!

So happy for you Christine! Enjoy sewing in your beautiful new space. I'm like you, I don't stitch in my sewing room either - I sit next to my hubby, watch TV and stitch away. Your "mister" seems a lot like mine - we're very lucky ladies to have such wonderful husbands. After seeing how organized your new sewing room is, I feel compelled to try to straighten mine out a bit LOL.

WOW!!!! You both did an awesome job! I love it, and all the little details, like your other sewing machines add such a cozy atmosphere. I think I need to start looking at IKEA for some of your ideas. Loving those fabrics. Can you show us, or have you done it before on how you display them? I am so excited for you. You deserve to have that great inspirational room to do your magic. Thank you for sharing and taking all of those videos on the process. Your husband is a wonderful guy and it is nice to see that you both did this together. Take care and hope to see you soon.

Tha k you so much, Sharon! I spent a lot of time on Po yerest trying to find sewing room ideas and kept coming across IKEA furniture. They really engineer their furniture pieces very well. Brad was impressed. I haven't shown how I display my fabrics, but I did get a request to show that just before I started moving all the fabrics into the new room. I will record a video on that in the next week!

Love your room. I put in free antique tables in my sewing room. Then I took a old dresser and made it into my ironing board and storage.
My old book shelves became my fabric shelves and miscellaneous tools stored into dollar store boxes in turquoise colors accented with lime boxes also.
My greatest pleasure was hand painting and stenciling a muslin fabric in rusts, lime green and turquoise and adding a eight inch border of turquoise print as a header for the valances.
My desk chair is a good quality old office chair that I painted with homemade chalk paint in turquoise with the-same stamped designs as the valances. Two old chairs are at the other tables. My old wing back chair with faded rose material looks like she belongs in here as a lol accent piece with a adjustable sewing light stand from JoAnns that my daughter bought for my birthday.
My one corner is storing four deep tub storage units from Walmart back when they were cheap, also in turquoise and lime.....
But the one thing I needed was a design wall but there’s no room. Your idea is so great . My washer and dryer are in a deep closet like area and I’m thinking about using that opened area since I do laundry about twice a week and using a board with clamps to hold the batting on top since I have wood trim around it....I will probably have my husband forge me some leaf hooks he can attach to the three inch trim on the sides and then the board can drop into it securely.....
Now if I could only acquire so many beautiful fabrics like you have.....🥰
