There's this really old movie called "Heavy Metal" that featured like 20 seconds of this song by BOC. It took me years to hear the full song and learn who did it. (Video wasn't released for a while) Love the BOC version, but wow...Metallica, amped acoustic. Wish I'd been there!
This SUCKS compared to the BOC live version...nothing more evident than in the HORRIBLE vocals here...he ain't no Eric Bloom...and the guitar ain't no Buck Dharma! This awful!
@@jeffwarren4938 Which is sad, Metallica HAS done very well on at least one other cover (Turn the Page by Bob Segar, not AS good but very close in quality to the original).

pretty phenomenal acoustic cover id say. arjen anthony lucassen's cover is my fav version. check him out, he did a pretty metal cover of pink floyd's welcome to the machine also
For the real deal check out Blue Oyster Cult's live version from 10/09/81 ... awe inspiring with one of the greatest guitar solos ever played ... this version is painful by comparison.
StoogesOfTheFuture Buck was writing great hard rock songs long before Metallica ever sucked their first tit. Its pretty sad that they tried so hard to look cool playing real music but, failed miserably. Even sadder that you think it sounded good. Douchebag.

I love them because they weren't afraid and still aren't afraid of testing new things, ideas and new way to do music. Risky when many others like to repeat the same formula. Great inspiration to our songs. Come and taste it and please share your thoughts. It's only 3 minutes and free here on Soundcloud : soundcloud.com/olivier-pastorino/sober-ii-album-love-lust-ro
shitty cover but blue oyster cult need all the attention it can. 'fear the reaper' is overrated boring song and the public doesnt know the dozens of better songs from the band. most underrated band in history of rock n roll. 'Imaginos' was the best rock album of 80s
Imaginos is probably their most underrated record. Joe Satriani played the solos on The Siege And Investiture Of Baron Von Frankenstein's Castle At Transylvania.
I thought the castle was located at Weisseria, I stayed their one night, I have the keychain to prove, come on oyster boy, Get out from under the Soft White Underbelly you are hidden under or The Stalk Forrest you are in
funny you should mention "imaginos", because metallica also covered "astronomy" in a highly credible fashion, but on "imaginos", BOC "covered" (yeah, i know- that's why the quotes) "astronomy" and crucified it worse than this
Imaginos rules. One of my favourite albums of BOC with their second album. I love BOC and having Joe Bouchard following us on Soundcloud for our first album is a huge blessing :soundcloud.com/olivier-pastorino/sober-ii-album-love-lust-ro
why do they insist on continuing to destroy their legacy, should have quit in 1986 when Cliff died.If they wanted to keep playing music they should have changed the name of the band and left the history and legacy of Metallica alone.Damn
I just can't get behind this on any Level ... How can Someone kill the Feeling and Intensity of this song so Brutally.. The Vocals are as if he is reading it for Kroakee.. Guitar leaves me scratching my head, drums ... ummmm... Bass was the best part from what I could hear of him.. I normally wouldn't have commented for something like this but....... I'm curious as to how this came to be... Did they just try to play a song that someone yelled from the crowd as a random pick.. and they all talked amongst themselves and agreed they each remembered it enough to try and wing it ? I AM SURE they didn't play it to mock it..... IN Anycase , If You Liked it , then Right on... That's Cool.. For Me .. I just don't get it at all. Epic Song of Ages ... Played not well at all and Deffinetley did not do the Song Justice... I don't want to say they Disrespected it , I can't see them doing that ever .. Though I still wonder what was up with their Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills ditty... lol In anycase , great find, but wish I hadn't... I do Wish Metallica all the Best and Thanks for DECADES OF AMAZING BADDASS ! MUSIC ... This one will just go down in Mystery for me.. lol
Great great, classic song, but, this cover is GREAT! No idea what you were listening to, Fernando! Metallica paid great respect to the ?B.O.C. Original here!
I mean, James has some good performances and is a good lead singer for the most part for what their songs are trying to do. But, yeah, he can't even come close to how Eric Bloom performed this in his heyday.

It’s great. Honestly was never a huge Metallica fan but this version slays
@@AdNauseamart That's because it's not a Metallica song.

Truly great heavy metal lyrics. Stands up to any..
could lars even attempt to play the correct beat?
Agree, the drumbeat is the most recognizable part of this song! Kirk's guitar solo kind of saved it.

to be fair, metal solos are far usually weaker on acoustic guitars. Harder to bend, harder to reach the high notes.

Grande Blue Oyster Cult!!!
if ya dont like it dont listen
Not a bad rendition, I liked it.
They are playing it like a weak unplugged version!!
Where is the intense pounding drums?
how to fuck up a great song in 3, 2, 1......
Agreee...vocals and guitar, and drums suck compated to BOC...he ain't no Eric Bloom, or Buck Dharma
Metallica is fucking unstoppable
Trust Hammett to get the guitar part wrong.
That was funny
woah awesome !!!!
Joya de canción. Joya de cover.
Not bad but hard to follow the original masterpiece from the mighty BOC
Terrible. They should pay BOC twice the royalty for that disaster.
I'm a fan of Blue Oyster Cult and I find this insulting lars need to learn the real drum parts James does good on vocals but this is insulting
My favourite part is when the song finishes
So many jealous fuckers throw hate. Metallica is better than your favorite band. Live with it. 120 million albums. THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN
