nice! thank you buddy for taking the time of answering, I have just purchased torpedo C.A.B. gonna try it with pod hd500x gains and distortions and will let you know how it sounds, gain with pod, cab with torpedo, I'm trying to get a nice warm crunch tone. lets see what happens. cheers!
Ive never used torpedo cab, but in my experience with the fx loop on the pod I did not lose any quality. Now, I was using good cables and effects. I dont think you would have any problem using the torpedo cab in the effects loop, but the cab emulations are pretty good in the pod alone to me. You'll just have to try it and see how it sounds to you! But I had no negative tone loss that I could tell when using the effects loop on the pod when set up correctly.
I remade my pedal chain in my POHD500 taking off the cabinet and the amp. Now I have just pedals FX, I´m using the Studio output. The sound in my amp now works much better, brighter and with correct gain. This is a better way to make live shows and rehearsals when you´re cannot use your own amp, much more flexibility.
Thanks for the info. I will try it asap. I have had nothing but trouble with live to a combo amp, all my patches are too hot even when switched to Amp mode. I'm a newbie and this is very enlightening.
Hi there, not sure why your post was marked as spam but here is my answer. There both great! The Pod actually uses the M13 effects as far as I know, and should be just as good. For the price, if you just need effects, go with the M13, but Id spend the extra and get the Pod because of the massive amount of flexibility it offers over the M13 and the added amps and options. But thats my 2cents. Ive now gone back to stomp boxes and sold my pod, Remember, tone is subjective, so play what you like!
what do you think about using FX loop with torpedo cab? then bring back to the pod and process both emulations, the one with CAB and the other with line 6 amps as well, does fx loop kills the tone? I mean, does FX loop makes you loos sound quallity?
After watching the Pete Thorn video you have on your channel of him demoing the torpedo, Im sure its gong to sound AWESOME! I think I need to save my money for one now, thanks a lot! Ive been using stomp boxes lately and a vox night train with an iso cab, but its a lot of stuff, so I got a Joyo AC tone pedal today. Sounds good but would sound sick with the torpedo I think, I need a money tree! Keep on rockin!
Hi Anthony great video thank you, I kind of have the opposite problem maybe you can shed some light? I LOVE my amp (fended hot rod deluxe), what is the best way I can use the effects and maximize my amps true sound. Should I run it through the FX send/Return loop? One main issue I have with the 500x is the major swing in volume from preset effects. For example I might play 1D it will be normal volume than switch to 2C and it will be SUPER LOUD, some are the opposite and very low in volume. I just want consistent volume and to use the effects while keeping my amps organic tone. Does that make sense? Thanks in advance!
One I said in the video you would choose just the preamp which is a repeat selection after you have gone through all the amps on the eh 400 and 500. So if you go to your amp, keep scrolling and there abound be a section that has just the preamp without the cab and mic simulation. You could also shut the preamp section off complex and just use the pod for effects; really it's whatever sounds good to you! Thanks for watching!
Anthony Brown sorry, i am the same person just different address, i have the hd500x, buti understood what you mean, but when i go to the amp pre, still i can see the hd500 chooses a mic and cab, in that case i have to switch it of the cab and mic, correct? and what you mean the complex.thanks for the help
Yes, shut off the mic and cab with the new POD however you do that and use the preamp when you want to use one of your favorite amp sounds into your amp.
Not really sure why thats a bad idea. Although not ideal to get the exact sound, if you can make the real amp sound as transparent as possible, it really shouldn't matter. Besides, essentially every distortion type pedal is a preamp as it has an opamp and some type of tone or eq of its own whether adjustable or set that modifies the input signal before the power amp section.
This video is a hidden gem! All the info I needed, very well condensed. Been using the POD GO, but same application. Thanks!
You answered so many questions I had for over a few years! Thank you :)

Turning the CAB OFF doesnt work with the POD HD300 right? Thanks
Sorry for the late reply, I'm not sure, sorry,
Yes, you can select PREAMP only on the 300.
But all pre amps comes with cab and mic. Are you asking to turn them off?

FOR A NORAML PATCH INTO THE PA, DO YOU THINK ITS BETTER TO USE PRE AMP OR THE NORMAL AMPS
Helpful vid! Thank you
So just to be clear, can i run this through an effects loop? thank you! ive enjoyed your videos!
You could If you wanted.
