I've just discovered Magic loop and watched a million tutorials... Yours by far was the easiest to follow.... Thanks for sharing!!!! Next thing on my list is to master continental knitting... I'm a self taught English style knitter...... Thanks again...
Your video is THE BEST! You make it so simple to understand by your slow and concise way of showing the technique. Also going over it again and again with a calm and soothing voice. Breaking it down into slow simple steps makes all the difference....Thank you Liat!!
How wonderful to receive a personal reply within MINUTES of posting! And thanks for the info. I just recently discovered your site and love it, and have learned much already, even tho I have been knitting for over 50 years. Thank you!
I use this as a refresher when I have a brain freeze and can't remember how to get started using Magic Loop. I think it's the best video, it's simple, and not cluttered with lots of unnecessary talking, it's very easy to follow.
Thanks for the lesson. You take great care to explain, not just demonstrate every step, something that I find very helpful. You're a very good teacher!
I have watched many videos on magic loop and couldn't get from one row to the other. This video with "ready position" made it all so clear. Thank you for the best video I nave seen on magic loop!
Thanks so much for this video. I was so confused watching other videos until I found yours. You have a nice, calm voice and you go at a good speed so we can knit along with you. Your explanations of "ready positions" and the reason why is really helpful. I think can finally attempt some socks!
Many thanks for your video. I watched it over and over again, and now I think I got the hang of it! Your instructions are very clear and I look forward to viewing all of your lessons. I am a brand new knitter, I am learning so I can make a pair of socks!
I know this video is 8 years old but I just wanted to say THANK YOU for helping me knit my first mitten! Your instructions were perfect and I loved being called your dear student. Thanks again, Liat!
Very clear instructions. Diction superb.... a great number of people mumble on these vids but your diction is great. Thank you so much for the instruction.
Fantastic tutorial! I watched half a dozen videos trying to figure out how to knit in the round with my 29 inch circulars, and yours has been the only one I've been able to follow. I almost can't believe how easy it is! Thank you!!!
Thank you for your extra care in explaining the steps so thoroughly. Appreciate that. I also have knitted about 60 yrs and this is a new technique for me. Wonderful. It opens up projects that I have avoided. Cheers to you and your family for a wonderful Merry Christmas.
Hi, thank you. I watched quite a few videos on how to magic loop and yours was by far the best. Good camera work, great instruction. I can only echo what others have said here-yours was the one that made this clear and understandable. Success!
Thank you. You taught me how to this just by watching this video once. I paid for a online class watched this part over and over again and didn't get it, but you explained and showed it so clearly thank you. Now I will invest I some circular needles : )
I have really enjoyed your posts. Your instructions are clear and make since with out telling us the history of the tree your needles came from. Your explanations of why not to do something a certain way has helped me make sense of mistakes I've made and didn't know why. I will continue to seek out your posts. TY
You'rs is the only video where I finally learned how to use the Magic Loop and I am thrilled! woohoo!!!! Knitting my teenage son a hat, a few mistakes, however, this video is a 10! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! I can't wait to start my next hat!!!
You are so patient and explain things so clearly - I have recommended your videos and books to so many people. Thank you so much, Liat.....you are a wonderful teacher!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE using the Magic Loop technique! I've been making lots and lots of socks with Magic Loop, and it makes me so very happy :) It goes so quickly, and I don't lose my dpns!
This solution was suggested to me for my current project. Never heard of Magic Looping before. Yours is the second video I watched and MUCH MORE CLEAR and less confusing than the first! Thanks for this excellent video!
Oh Wow, I have been trying for days to learn the magic loop method, and then I found you! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, you are an awesome teacher. :D
Liat, you are just an angel given to so many! :) You take the hestitation out of trying something that in theory, sounds simple.. but in action becomes confusing! :) Bless you, Fellow Knitter!!
Thank you Liat. You are now my "go to person" for knitting instructions. I joined the "knitfreedom" so that I can get more and more help. You've made this technique fun. Your instructions are very clear and audible (great speaking voice). My next challenges are "fair isle" and 2 socks one inside of the other. Thanks again. Mae
I needed a refresher since I hadn't done this in awhile, and yours is the best video on this I have seen! Good explaining and thanks for doing several rounds so we see it over and over. Great teaching point calling that starting position; I bet I never forget again and even need your video in the future!
This is the most clearly instructed Magic Loop video I've found. The turning your hands, that's super helpful to watch. When I first tried this, that is what made it SO cumbersome that I gave up. Lack of knowledge, right...
Hi Michelle, thank you so very much for your comment! I love Magic Loop and I love helping people overcome any issues they have with it. I have an in-depth class here: www.knitfreedom.com/shop/magic-loop. You can see a preview here: www.knitfreedom.com/my-classes/magic-loop
Thank you so much for demonstrating with the continental method. I watched several other videos and thought I might not be able to use magic loop without switching back to the American method. (I would rather use a DPNs than go back to that method. ) You are an excellent teacher: clear explanations and useful hints, , no unnecessary chatter or comments, easy to listen to voice, covered every necessary step, and explained the pitfalls. Many thanks!
Thank you so much, Jill! What a wonderful testimonial. I'm so glad this video checked all the boxes for you. You can watch a whole course on Magic Loop here: knitfreedom.com/shop/magic-loop. And you never have to use DPNs again! :D
I'm new at knitting in the round. Of all the websites I visited online, you helped me the most...practical tips (dropping left hand needle after completing 1/2 round), (placing the yarn over the back needle before taking stitches off needle), etc. I've ripped out my work a number of times before finding your instructions. Thank you!
Glanced at a few comments and it seems that many of us tried to learn this from other videos first. I was about to just give up but thankfully I found you first! Best magic loop video out there! I only had to practice to the end of your video and had the confidence to begin my project. So much easier than those annoying dpns. You are an excellent teacher and you have a new subscriber. Many, many thanks.
It took me one whole night to learn it, I kept getting laddering and confused about directions, but your instructions are so clear I just kept going back over your video over and over and finally got it. I am doing sleeves and hope when I start increasing I can keep it right. Didn't have the savvy to do two at a time though, but next time I will try it for two pieces at a time.
Thank you for your video! I'm doing it now! Your video was clear and easy to follow. I appreciate that you give reasons for doing things - the sign of a good teacher.
Yes, magic loop is a new way for me too, loved the video, so easy to take in, having just returned from major surgery it will give me a new hobby and thanx for your expertise help.
I found this video very helpful. I watched a few videos about this already, but I didn't understand them because they weren't as detailed on the instructions. Thanks for making this! It was easy to follow along.
I feel like I just had a penny drop moment. I’ve been battling this all day. You’re a wonderful teacher! Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!! I am a new knitter and about to start my first pair of socks. My 40 inch needles are on order. I cant wait to start. Your instructions are clear and a godsend.
I wanted you to know that I tried to learn Magic Loop and gave up but then I found you and I think your voice helped me to relax and then and only then I learned. Thank you so very much, now I’m practicing and am going to learn continental knitting. I’ve wanted to knit this way for awhile. Thank you for your willingness to teach us, you effect so many lives this way.
Thank you so much Pam! It means a lot to me that this video helped you. Please keep in touch and let me know over on knitfreedom.com if you need anything :)
I also knit continental and LOVE your explanation of moving the yarn over the back of the needle before pulling it out from start position. I had been adding stitches before and didn't know how I was doing that - this helps so much! Thank you!
Hooray! I'm so glad you found my video. I have a complete class that can help you get really good at Magic Loop: knitfreedom.com/shop/magic-loop. Enjoy!
Thank you SO much for this video! I got some KnitPicks needles for Christmas and was having the hardest time figuring out magic loop. After about 20 abandoned attempts, I tried it again while watching (and going back, and watching again lol) your video. Thanks to you, I actually knitted with magic loop! I will definitely be practicing a lot before I start a project, but at least I (sort of) know what I'm doing now! Thank you!
You are unique Liat. Nice to see you everyday. For good reason, I get so much positive inspiration from you and you are always in my thoughts as I knit smoothly and confidently. Thanks.
Thank you so much for this. I've twisted my second fingerless glove three times; now I will get it right. I look forward to watching more of your techniques!
I've looked at a dozen tutorials for magic loop, most from my regulars and even they did not explain it as clear and wonderful as you did. I can't wait to get off work, I watched this on my break. I am knitting hundreds of hats in all sizes for charity and the DPNs were getting slow and boring. Plus I had to change them all the time according to the yarn weight I was using. Since I make everything from preemie to adult, I have 15 sets of DPNs in different sizes. But with the magic loop I can just use 1 long circular and get it done from start to finish much faster. Thank You very much.
I pulled Magic Loop videos to do a mobius pattern from Cat Bordhi. Yours, thank God and Greyhound and you so much, was the second one I watched, and I get it!! You are an excellent teacher. I have certainly marked your cite. I have knitted for over 50 years, but have just gotten back into knitting for my grands.
Have watches several magic loop videos in my native language and just didn't get it.... After watching yours I'm now kniting with magic loop! Thank you!!
Thanks so much for the video. I was trying to teach someone how to magic loop and realized I'm not the best teacher. I turned on your video and now the person I was trying to teach (unsuccessfully) can magic loop, and I'm not frustrated.
Wow! I have a perception problem, and try as I might, even taking a knitting class to knit two socks at a time, much frustration, a few curses and....well, you get the picture. I was determined to learn to make socks. Everyone else on the class seemed to have very little trouble. Happy to report, I am now making my first pair of socks after watching one of your videos! Thank you!
How could I ever forget about the 'Magic Loop'! After VERY many years of not knitting at all, I try to get hold again of stitches and techniques. I made some nice scarves w. CNs and started making matching hats. But: the circular needles - most of them 29/32 inches - were too long. *lol* Not anymore. Your video snapped me back into my old 'modus', things are easy again. Awesome! Many thanks.
Thank you so much for this video! I've watched a few on magic loop already but they all stop after the first round, which is basically only teaching you halfway; this was much more helpful because you do a few rounds. And the tip for not getting the yarn trapped is a huge help.
This is by far the easiest method of the magic loop I have seen and worked with, and your instructions and demonstration are very clear. I wasn't familiar with this technique since I don't often knit in the round, and needed help with sleeves in a top down jacket (something I hadn't done before) for a baby. I consider myself an expert knitter but had trouble properly following other methods of magic loop I found on TH-cam. I found your video this morning and now the sleeves are knitting up perfectly. I was starting with sleeves that already had a cap, but I went ahead and followed your "join" in the first row at the point where the stitches had been divided; except I knitted all the stitches because I also had to pick up stitches to close the gap under the arm. I began your actual magic loop method with my 2nd row. What you demonstrated is not something I'd seen in the magic loop videos I watched previously, and perhaps it's not meant to be done as I did it. But it has worked perfectly to create an invisible "outer seam." So, thank you very much.
I was watching your video of you spinning with your baby in a carrier, reminded me of how I coped when my kids were little. I had a Snugli and the boys were often in there. I didn't knit so much when they were little because it was such a busy time. Now I get to make up for it and knit for the soon to be born grandson. Going to be teaching knitting to some folks in a nursing home and I will teach them Combined as it makes the most sense.
Thank you, thank you! It really helped that you said not to worry about the extra yarn stretching out at the beginning of the round. I've been trying to tighten that join each time I use circular needles, thinking I was doing it wrong, so thanks for mentioning that. I have started over and over again to try to fix that!
Thank you for this basic lesson- now I'm not afraid anymore of trying this technique. Going to purchase my needle & can't wait to knit the Magic Loop way.
Thank you. . .one of the best Magic Loop tutorials I've seen. . . Love the tip on where to put the working yarn. I"m learning & I kept getting the YO & I could't figure out what I was doing wrong. Thank you soooooo very much
Your video is so wonderful! I'm badly handicapped but some of your very fine explained videos helped me and still do to do my therapy (knitting for learning how to control my hands) with love. Thank you so much! Be blessed! Yours, Conny
So very useful. Saw some other sites but didn't find anything like yours. Previously had learnt but forgotten. After seeing your video with such easy steps could do again. Thanks a lot.
Wow, thanks so much! Yes, we specialize in Magic Loop instruction. If you have any questions, you can always go to www.knitfreedom.com/knitting-topic/magic-loop or email me.
Thank you so much. Admittedly I didn't have to view too many tutorials before I found yours but I stopped here because your presentation made the most sense and was the easiest to follow for me. I have tried to master DPNs with no luck. This method of magic loop had me sailing through a hat that decreased to 10 stitches at the end which I successfully knitted with your method. Currently I am working on Cathy Carron's "School Ties" which goes from a 40 stitch rib to 80 stitch stockinette and back again in a tube on a 24" circular interchangable with short tips. Easy peasy.
Thank you so very much for this perfectly explained tutorial! I've had to go back and undo my current project twice because other magic loop tutorials just didn't explain it well enough. Finally I get it!! Now my circular needles won't go to waste without having to buy double pointed needles, woohoo! :p
omgoodness, thank you so very much! You made it so easy to do. I am able to figure out different ways of doing things by watching someone do it and then I am usually fine but you are one of the best teachers I have seen who actually explains each step so you know what you are doing and what mistakes to watch for. I have made socks with dpn's and this is so much easier and faster too. Thanks so much. I guess I am lucky I found your vid first (from all the comments). I didn't have to waste time watching the others.
YES!!!!! Your video sorted me out a treat, I couldn't figure out why I seemed to have an extra stitch at the end of every row worked and I was creating the yarn over just like you said by pulling the working yarn up through the stitches....thank you so much! xx
I was soooo afraid of the magic loop, thank you for showing me it's super easy! I made 2 pair of socks using 5 needles this will be so much easier! You really did a wonderful job of making it easy to understand!
I’ve never been able to get the hang of knitting with circular needles. The last 2 days I've been practicing, determined to teach myself - major fail. Then I figured the problem is my cords are too long & I was going to buy the shortest ones available (for sleeves, socks, hats). But your video showed me I can work w/my longer cords. I'm going downstairs to get my needles & yarn to rewatch your video over & over until I get it. Can't thank you enough for the clear & precise instructions.
This is the best video on how to use the Magic Loop method. I particularly appreciate the advise to drape the lead yarn over the back needle. Not doing this has caused me so much trouble especially when doing stranded work such as fair isle knitting.
I have watched a number of tutorials on this and this was the BEST one that actually got it right for me. New sub right here!
Wow! Best tutorial for magic loop! You are a gifted teacher, thank you so much!
Best instructions by far on TH-cam
I agree!!

Thank you Liat!! YOU are the best teacher I have EVER had!!

This is by far the easiest method of the magic loop I have seen and worked with, and your instructions and demonstration are very clear. I began your actual magic loop method with my 2nd row. What you demonstrated is not something I'd seen in the magic loop videos I watched previously, and perhaps it's not meant to be done as I did it. But it has worked perfectly to create an invisible "outer seam." So, thank you very much.
Thank you so much Shelley! I really appreciate your comment. I love doing videos right. :)
Thank you so much for this great video! You saved me! Very clear instructions and easy to follow!
I am so glad I found you here I tried so many videos but couldn't get it but you helped me get it Thank you.
Shelva
Thank you, thank you! It really helped that you said not to worry about the extra yarn stretching out at the beginning of the round. I've been trying to tighten that join each time I use circular needles, thinking I was doing it wrong, so thanks for mentioning that. I have started over and over again to try to fix that!
Your instructions are the best very clear and simple!Thank u so much!
Thank you so much! Taking a magic loop sock class and forgot everything! Your help is wonderful!!
Thank you very much 💜😃
Thank you! It is so much fun to learn new techniques. Very detailed. Great explanation.
omgoodness, thank you so very much!
Thank you for showing me how to do this , I was struggling how to do it you explain it so well and make it so easy to understand
Thank you! Great video, can't thank you enough for teaching me, so glad you had only 20 stitches too, really helped me learn quickly!
Excellent explanation!!! Best I've seen so far !! Thanks 🙏
Thank you for going in details using the magic loop ! ❤
This is so cool! I love learning a new technique, thanks for your clear explanation.
this video helped me the most out of all the videos on youtube. thank you!
good teaching-- very easy to follow and figure out! Thank you!
Incredibly well - explained. I've been struggling with this for years, and can finally do it! Have subscribed to your posts - thank you so much.
Really like your style of teaching? Learned a lot, and now to practice.
This is an absolute amazing video showing us the magic loop method. Thank you so much. xo
Excellent tutorial. Just purchased my first pair of interchangeable needles so will be making a hat using the magic loop method!
Awesome❗clearly explained and well illustrated. Thanks for sharing🌹
This is the best video on how to use the Magic Loop method. I particularly appreciate the advise to drape the lead yarn over the back needle. Not doing this has caused me so much trouble especially when doing stranded work such as fair isle knitting.
This is really good vid.. The only vid that make me understand how to knit using magic loop..thanks!!!
