Oh, bless you! I've been trying to teach myself, after having mostly done crochet for years. I was practically in tears of frustration when I FINALLY came across your tutorial. Suddenly it all made sense! Now, I'm off to see about knitting a sock. Wish me luck. Lol
That's fantastic to hear Katie!!! You might like our how to knit socks videos - this is the first one th-cam.com/video/mJxz7Q-EkVg/w-d-xo.html and once you start, you won't stop, it's soooo much fun! Kindest knitting wishes, love Merion and the LoveCrafts team x
Im about to attempt to do the same. I am a crocheter with the tiniest bit of knitting skills. Thought Id try and make some socks! Hope yours worked out great 😊
I’m having a hard time keeping the last stitches from tightening up around the cable. I’m having to use a needles to open up the yarn to get it over the sharp edge between the cable and the needles where it fastens. I’m also having a hard time not having a big gap between the top and bottom needles where it’s suppose to be joining evenly n
Hi Carmil, that's very kind of you, thank you! I hope you have enjoyed using the magic loop after the video! Kindest knitting wishes, Merion and the LoveCrafts team xx
Wonderfully clear, succinct instructions, excellent camera angle. Thank you immensely for no annoying music and no upturned sentence endings all the time like so many have. I felt I was sitting with a friend showing me calmly and knowledgeably so that I could really learn. Keep up your sweet voice and excellent videos. I have subscribed!
Quite right about the annoying music and "upturned" sentences. It seems to be the new style of English that children have found to torment their elders...I hate it.
I'm a hooker for years, dabble in knitting now and then. I saw the Izzy Doll craze on Facebook and really wanted to make one, and finally finished it successfully just this morning, knitted flat and seamed. I'm looking into possibly loom knitting, I say, while my hands are still aching after finishing the Izzy Teddy. You make it look so easy!
I cannot tell you how many attempts I have made, watching numerous tutorials for magic loops/ circular needles, getting literally entangled in yarn 😤 starting again , over and over and over!! and then eventually came across your video. Thank you SO much. After a few views I have cracked it. Now I hope my Christmas Elf hat will be complete in a week - or 6! Thank you again. 👏👏
Oh Joanna! I am so thrilled to hear that it helped! Magic loop is one of those things that is SO brilliant once you know how but can be a nightmare until you do! It just enables you to knit anything in the round, even tiny things. Well done! I am super proud. Kindest knitting wishes from Merion and the LoveCrafts team xxx
I got really frustrated with the cables twirling around. And what about how it pulls and stretches the stitches on each end? I don't want "ladders". I just need it for a neck rubbing for a dog sweater. :/
Brilliant tutorial you made it look so easy the magic way. I'm 66 a knitter for 57of those years . I like the fact your very incouraging will watch out for you. Thank you so much I learned something new.
This is the easiest magic loop explanation I've seen! I'm a crocheter wanting to knit a pair of socks, not the easiest thing to start off my knitting journey! This tutorial has taken the fear away for me. Thanks so much.
Hi Abigail! I am so glad that you have found this easy - and wow, yes, socks are a big thing to start with but I have a tutorial on this channel that takes you all the way through socks from start to finish, using magic loop! I hope you have fun knitting them! Kindest knitting wishes, love from Merion and the LoveCrafts team xx
Hello: this NOTE is coming to you from Toronto Ontario Canada, I have been knitting for 70+ years, recently I have become interested in the magic loop, as fiddling around with those short needles is driving me nuts, you have no idea how many tutorials I have watched here, all of them caused more confusion, too longwinded, their knitting is a different style from mine adding to the confusion ETC. ETC., Your tutorial is amazing, you speak cool and calm, nice and to the point not too long, it now finally makes perfect sense, just showing me that one needle holds knit stitches the other purls now I can understand it.... you are an teaching artist...THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME..... WISHING YOU WELL!!!
This means so much! Thank you very much for your kind words, it makes us so happy to hear that you found our tutorial helpful and hope you enjoy many more projects with the magic loop! Happy making 🥰
Such a clear and simple explanation of how and why this technique is used - thank you - I’m ready for my sleeves now!! And no more stitches sliding off my DPNs
Oh Julia, that's brilliant! I am a huge magic loop fan, it really really makes circular knitting much easier than DPNs! (Obviously lots of peope prefer DPNs but I love love love magic loop!) Kindest knitting wishes, love Merion and the LoveCrafts team xx
Best teacher ever 🤩❤ Thank you!! I tried another video before this one and what a nightmare!!! I ripped it out a few times too many 😡 almost gave up on Magic Loop knitting!!
I was watching tutorials for almost an hour and getting so lost and confused!! This was the first video I came across that explained each step clearly with helpful IN FOCUS camera angles. I'm now on my way to making my first pair of socks! Thank you so much immediately saved so I can refer back to it again later :)
I’ve been knitting since I was six , now 78 and never learned to knit in the round. I now make toys as I’m disabled but hate the seams, so this tutorial is a dream for me. Thank you for your slow , calm explanation. I will be practicing tomorrow when my loop comes.
Thank you SO much. I was getting all confused with all the continental videos. Had to watch a few times, but now I think I'm reading to knit my daughter her mittens.😊
This is so crazy! I'm learning to knit socks (As a long term crochet girly) and i struggle so much with this technique! THANK YOU! for explaining it in a easy and understandale way!
Fantastic instructions. It’s a bonus that it is UK . I also crochet and i have to remind myself that UK and US use different terminology. I am trying to knit baby socks and this tutorial is the easiest I have found to teach myself knitting in the round with a magic loop . Had I known it was this easy I would have tried it years ago !!!😂 Thank you ❤
Finally!!!!!!!!! I have been struggling for so long. Watched video after video and just couldn't catch on. I have been knitting socks with DPNs forever and Finally decided to try the circular. I got it !!!!!! Your instructions are clear and you go slowly. So happy I found you! Thank you!
I had so much trouble with the magic loop in knitting, thank you so much for your vid! I used your other knitting tutorials to teach myself knitting and they're absolutely the easiest to follow in my opinion! Thank you!
I've been using my plastic looms for knitting in the round. I recently taught myself to knit with straight needles but wondered if it was possible to knit in the round without using double points. Now I know! You saved me from buying double points. 😊 I just started using circular needles so finding your video is a life saver!
Thank you for such clear instructions. I’m working sleeves on my 1st sweater ever and just couldn’t handle multiple double pointed needles. This is so much easier!
I’m fairly new to knitting although successfully knitted some toys…. I really wanted to make a jumper…. Your video is by four the best and clearest of how to use circular needles. Thank you 👍
WOW Hayley, that is super kind of you! Thank you!! Hope you're having fun with circular needles (I wouldn't be without them! I love magic loop!) Sending kindest knitting wishes from Merion and the LoveCrafts team xx
Thank you so so much! I learned crochet in quarantine, and moved to knitting flat. I taught myself DPN but loved the idea of using circular needles for making plushies! Yours is the clearest even for a beginner like myself. Thank you!
Thank you very much! I have started and restarted trying to use my magic loop needles, to no avail. I watched several videos on this, but kept coming back to yours. Yours is stated simply, slow enough to follow, while demonstrated clearly, making each component readily identifiable. I am having a bit of an issue with my cast on stitches tightening, which has made sliding them along the cables a little difficult. I just need to practice, get comfortable with the twisting and frankly annoying cables. I am a crocheter, crocheting Amigurumi, but wanted to knit the clothing, as I prefer the delicate stitches for such items. I have not knitted for probably 35 plus years, but am determined to get the hang of it. 😊
oh it can be so hard at the beginning but we are sure you will get the hang of it! If you ever have any questions, you can always reach out as well. We are super happy to help! Happy making 🥰
Thank you for this clear video and explanation of the magic loop. I’ve always used the dpn method of knitting smaller projects in the round. I’m off to practice this now
Thank you. I have watched so many videos and yours is best for beginner me. I just want to make socks. I have been trying dpn needles. Impossible for me. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. I struggled so much with circular knitting needles and after watching your videos, i finally understand! My socks are officially underway!
I learned to knit from your beginner’s videos. I have always wanted to learn and started with videos a few months ago. I always search for your videos, because they are so easy to follow. I am joining a sock class at my local yarn store next month and need to be able to knit in the round. I’m going to try a hat first with this magic loop technique.
oh J, that is so fantastic to hear!! I am sure you will find magic loop helpful for your hat - you could also just knit one in the round with a smaller circular needle, but magic loop will work just fine! It is an absolute joy for knitting socks though! We have three videos on our channel for knitting basic socks in an aran weight yarn - they are so easy to follow and once you start, you just won't stop! This is the first one: th-cam.com/video/mJxz7Q-EkVg/w-d-xo.html Kindest knitting wishes, from Merion and the LoveCrafts team x
I once paid for a two- session class to learn this. The teacher cancelled the 2nd class and w never learned how to do this!! You just did a bang-up job in under Five minutes. Boy did I get taken!
Been trying to circular knit a baby pullover and going bongers. I can use a #3 or 4 for most of my knitting. I shall get a 40” and practice. My Great Grandson is 9 weeks old so I have time to get a sweater knitted,as I will make a size for a 1-2 year old. Great instructions.
It definitely can take some time getting used to it, but we are sure that you will get there! There are also other ways of knitting in the round if you do not like the Magic loop. We are always here if you need any extra advise or help.❤️🥰
I have watched about 10 videos and yours is the first one and only one that I totally get. The others were much too fast with the needle position and which one you used next. I was just on the verge of giving up when I found you. I thank you SO much. ❤️🤗🙏
That is absolutely amazing! We are so glad that our video was helpful and hope you have lots of fun using this technique for your future projects. Happy making always 😍✨🧡
Thank you for this excellent tutorial, so clear and well explained. I’ve watched other tutorials and got confused but I’ve now “ got it” and can’t wait to use magic loop for socks, little sweaters and toys.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I have been struggling with other videos that simply didn't make sense. Your video was easy to follow and now I have a cute little tube that looks good!
Thank you so much for your very easy to follow and helpful video. I'm doing a scarf, packed a bit when read pattern and it says to use Magic loop method. I have never done it. I did look at several videos but yours is for me the best one. Explains it all clearly and felt confident to start. Fingers crossed I can do scarf on it. So used to 2 needles and just got used to DPNs after 40yrs of knitting I feel confident now to embrace new technique.. thank you.
My goodness, Sinead I am super proud of you - it's always daunting to try a new technique but you've done it! I was never very good with DPNs, they used to just slide all over the place for me so I was very happy to get into magic loop and I think it's a really easy way to knit in a circle, whatever the size! Sending you kindest knitting wishes with love from Merion and the LoveCrafts team xxx
Thankyou so much. I bought the musselburgh hat pattern and used other videos to cast on etc but that's all they took it to due to copyright, which was really no help because I didn't understand how to do the next step ie drop one needle etc , let alone then continue the pattern . Thankyou so much ! I will give it yet another go , you really blessed me @
Hi Deborah! Thanks so much for your kind words! Super glad that it helped! I am a big fan of magic loop!!! Kindest knitting wishes from Merion and the LoveCrafts team xxx (thanks about the nails!!!)
I can’t believe it - mystery solved !! THANK YOU for this clear explanation xxx. LoveCrafts is my go to for supplies and patterns etc - I didn’t realise you made these videos - so glad you do. Ps - what a lovely voice you have - very clear and soothing - helped me to stay calm when entangled in yarn and cable
Thank you very much. I hate DPN, it is so confusing for me to handle 4 to 5 needles and I already gave up out of frustration. Now I will try to knit a hot bottle cover.
thank you, I finally got it, I could not work it out well from other videos but your lovely explanations made it nice and easy. Now I m ready to knit my first pair of socks, Thank you again!
Hi Barbara! That's so great to hear! Thank you so much for leaving us a comment! You might like our how to knit socks videos - this is the first one th-cam.com/video/mJxz7Q-EkVg/w-d-xo.html and oh my goodness, sock knitting is addictive! Kindest knitting wishes from Merion and the LoveCrafts team x

Wow, Michele, that is SO great to hear!!! Well done! It's such a useful thing, I absolutely love it. Am thrilled that the video has helped! Sending you kindest knitting wishes from Merion and the LoveCrafts team xx
Thank you for sharing this technique with us. Nice quiet calm speaking. You are an awesome instructor. ❤️🧶 I am knitting DK socks on a US 3 needle. My 10” circular is putting too much stress on my hands and wrists. I thought the 30” cable on 5” tips might alleviate this.
Thank you Nortom12! Definitely change to a bigger cable! I always use 32" cables for socks, whatever the tip size - it makes life much easier! Kindest knitting wishes, Merion and the LoveCrafts team x
WOH, that's SO fantastic to hear Home from Home Childminding! Thanks so much for leaving us a comment! Sending kindest knitting wishes from Merion and the LoveCrafts team x
Hi Lily - it's my favourite, favourite thing - I love magic loop! Makes such a difference for sleeves and socks!! Kindest wishes, Merion and the LoveCrafts team x
Fantastic tutorial very precise and clear. Have watched many and yours was clear and thank you for sharing your skills. I am currently wanting to use it to make Izzy comfort Dolls for Ukaranian children. It will save time having to seam up the flat knittted version and also very good for shaping of the heads all in once piece. Excellent!!!
Oh Esther, that is so kind you - thank you - but how wonderful that youare making comfort dolls for Ukrainian children, that is absolutely fabulous. We have had an office in Kyiv for 5 years now, and we have worried and worried about our team mates since this awful war began - thankfully they are safe, our brilliant company has helped them to find safe places to live, but we worry about everyone else there. xxxx thank you for your lovely comment xx Kindest wishes, Merion and the LoveCrafts team x
Thank you Danielle! That is so kind of you! I am so glad you've found the magic loop - it's a really transformative method to use - I know lots of people love their DPNs but I love magic loop! Happy knitting! Love from Merion and the LoveCrafts team xx
Great fun...? Up until now, I must have started my project a good 12 times and almost dumped it in the garbage! I never know whether I'm coming or going, and I hate pulling on the stitches so that the stitches on both needles are properly distributed 😢 Your instructions are absolutely impeccable! I love the way you explain every detail. Most instructors just tell you what to do without the 'why'. Because of your amazing demonstration, I will attempt to knit my baby beanie hat on the round, one last time! Thanks for the great encouragement ❤ Just one question before I get started. How do you go about counting/calculating the rows for decreasing if the work has been split into 2 sections? Do I still follow the setup you've explained and simply add a marker...?
Aww thank you so much for your kind feedback! It can be so very frustrating, so we are very glad that our tutorial could help. Yes adding stitchmarkers to mark sections is perfect. If you want to count rows you can also get a row counter, so you won't lose track! Happy making 😊🧡
Thank you I just figured out the circular and magic loop are similar in one sense but with the loop technique we are not restricted to the size of the circular needle loops
Hi Mike, magic loop is extra good when you are knitting a small circumference, and a good long cable makes it easier. Some people like tiny circular needles, but they can be hard to handle for people with issues with their hands - so magic loop is a great technique to solve that problem too! Kindest knitting wishes, Merion and the LoveCrafts team x
Oooh Catherine, I bet you have tried it and it works! It's a great way to work small projects! Kindest knitting wishes from Merion and the LoveCrafts team x
Hi Mandy - yes and no - if you keep an eye on your tension and keep the ends of each needle's stitches nice and steady, you don't get ladders. But in all honesty, a) once the item is finished you can block out a ladder or stretch around to get rid of it, and b) I personally find that double pointed needles cause more ladders than magic loop. But everyone has their favourite method! You can definitely squish the up and get rid of any ladders you end up with and, just keep an eye on tension at the ends of the needles. Hope that helps! Kindest knitting wishes, Merion and the loveCrafts team x

Thank you, you did a great job of explaining it and showing how to do it.❤
Thank you so much for your very easy to follow and helpful video.
So simple to follow thank you so much. Going to knit my first bed socks with large 8mm needles and didn’t want to use a set of double sided ones
You are so welcome- happy making 🥰❤️
Thankyou so much. I bought the musselburgh hat pattern and used other videos to cast on etc but that's all they took it to due to copyright, which was really no help because I didn't understand how to do the next step ie drop one needle etc , let alone then continue the pattern . Thankyou so much ! I will give it yet another go , you really blessed me @
Thank you!! This was so hard for me to get at first but you've helped me so much! 💖
Very good clear instructions, not too slow and not too fast. Nice finger nails as well!
Hi Deborah! Thanks so much for your kind words! Super glad that it helped! I am a big fan of magic loop!!! Kindest knitting wishes from Merion and the LoveCrafts team xxx (thanks about the nails!!!)
Thanks! Nicely explained. I'm making a beret and the pattern says use dpn or circular needs using magic loop technique. I'll give the MLT a go!
Best magic loop technique i came across. Thank you so much for making it so easy to comprehend. ❤
That's so kind- Thanks so much!🥰
Me too I was in tears knowing finally that you taught this video very well God bless you.
So clear, thank you. I am glad that you have taken this right back to the cast on.

aww that is so lovely! Thanks so much❤️
thank you so much, this is the only tutorial that has made sense im so excited to start on my hat :)
This is amazing! I have no luck with DPNs which end up a tight snarled mess. Thank you!
❤️🥰
This is the 3rd tutorial I've watched and I can now understand!!🎉
Your voice is very relaxing, and instructions clear. Thank you!! ❤❤❤
aww thanks so much for your kind comment- we are so glad that you found this video helpful! Happy making 😍
Thank you very much. I hate DPN, it is so confusing for me to handle 4 to 5 needles and I already gave up out of frustration. Now I will try to knit a hot bottle cover.
We absolutely hear you! Magic loop can make it so much easier for sure. So glad this was helpful🥰❤️
thank you, I finally got it, I could not work it out well from other videos but your lovely explanations made it nice and easy. Now I m ready to knit my first pair of socks, Thank you again!

I think I got it finally. Greatest tutorial. Thank you.
Thank you, in the space of your video I've got the bang of it already! Fabulous delivery
WOH, that's SO fantastic to hear Home from Home Childminding! Thanks so much for leaving us a comment! Sending kindest knitting wishes from Merion and the LoveCrafts team x

This tutorial was so easy to follow. Thank you.
I tried before but this video has made it so clear! Thank you!
That's so great to hear-yay!🥰❤️
I think I may finally understand the magic loop, many thanks
That's amazing❤️
❤ thank you. Maybe it helped having the exact same pair of needles from LoveCrafts ❤
Thank you so much for the wonderful tutorial. The only one I understood from all that I watched.❤❤❤
You are so welcome!🥰
This was amazing for me. I am making golf head covers and this is amazing clear instructions

I love her voice 😍 amazing easy video thank you xxx
Thank you Danielle! That is so kind of you! I am so glad you've found the magic loop - it's a really transformative method to use - I know lots of people love their DPNs but I love magic loop! Happy knitting! Love from Merion and the LoveCrafts team xx
Fabulous tutorial. I will use it for socks,
😊brilliant explanation!! Thank you. Now I don't need to buy smaller circular needles.
Great fun...? Up until now, I must have started my project a good 12 times and almost dumped it in the garbage! I never know whether I'm coming or going, and I hate pulling on the stitches so that the stitches on both needles are properly distributed 😢
Your instructions are absolutely impeccable! I love the way you explain every detail. Most instructors just tell you what to do without the 'why'. Because of your amazing demonstration, I will attempt to knit my baby beanie hat on the round, one last time! Thanks for the great encouragement ❤
Just one question before I get started.
Wonderful tutorial. Thank you, I am hoping to knit a toque.
❤awesome teacher for a beginner. thank you so very very much.❤
Happy making! 🧡🥰
Brilliant video- maybe this time I can get it going to knit a seamfree baby hat- thank you
Oooh Catherine, I bet you have tried it and it works! It's a great way to work small projects! Kindest knitting wishes from Merion and the LoveCrafts team x
You are great at explaining thanks 😊 I just wondered though someone has said it leaves ladders is this true, thanks 😊
A wonderful tutorial. It was easy to follow.
