Will Stormblood keep me as hooked? Is it as good as this was cause my goodness, I'm in love with XIV.
Remembering now Stormblood may not be written same way as HW was but I'd say its a great middle chapter of the entire rollercoaster, in a good way, once things start to move it just doesnt catch a break. So I suggest a bit of ... Tolerance, if one feels like things are dragging, whenever that feeling comes, dont worry, it will repay player later. And grats for saving Holy See! Ishgard remembers, Warrior of Light!
In all honesty, ARR was the slowest for me in terms of character development so all expansions after this are either good or the best :). As for Stormblood, (4.0), it will start a bit slow but the patches after it (4.1 to 4.5) are great. There is definitely improvement in battle mechanics as well in comparison to HW.
Stormblood is definitely a downgrade in terms of story but the trials and content and music are amazing
STORMBLOOD is a Masterpiece. It is definitely NOT a downgrade. I cannot wait for you to see how the HEAVENSWARD Patches end and set up STORMBLOOD.

I respect the opinion, the last part of ARRs story was great and hooked me in hard, though I already find HW a more enjoyable and better paced experience. I'm really excited for SB and ShB, which I think is heralded as the best story piece so far. I'm just glad I'm experiencing this at all. Loving XIV.
I will forever adore the symbolism of absorbing Hraesvelgr's eye and the lyrics to Dragonsong kicking in as you become attuned to it's power, finally able to hear and understand the hearts of the greatwyrms, the "song" they constantly refer to.

It really takes one to play through Heavensward to realize, the stigma of FFXIV "not deserving to be part of mainline FF" just because it's an MMORPG, is totally unfounded by those whom has never played through it. Sadly I still have peers whom held that stigma religiously, and it only serves to reinforce their idea if I try to talk them out of it. This is why watching sprouts going through FFXIV is such a comforting experience, and even more so for anyone whom is a big fan of FF trying out FFXIV for their first time.

Gotta love the ice skating in some dungeons lmaoo ( I also did this recently and it LOOKED like I was trying to get hit by every attack but I SWEAR I was just too busy laughing my ass off to even control where I was going tears were coming outta my eyes as I laugh skated to my death and had to be revived by our healer! good times! lol)

THAT legendary RPG moment, when the calm music from the cutscene continues throughout the fight. FF overall hits those moments like no other series imo

Honestly, base Stormblood story is a bit of a mess, but the post-patch story is excellent.
Plus, I highly recommend the different raid/trial series because they do often tie into the MSQ if you do them as the game goes on and have their own great stories. 😊
The Dragonsong War is probably the single greatest piece of storytelling in video game history.
I will always love this final battle with Nidhogg and the scene with Haurchefaunt and Ysayle. It always moves me so when I see someone playing this, I click and watch :) This is what made me love FFXIV. And 8 years later, I'm still playing :D.
Idk why it's taken me so long to get to FFXIV, I've said it before many times but as someone who loves FF I'm just glad I'm in it right now. HW will definitely leave it's mark, what a great story.

I am just lucky I started in 2013.
A REALM REBORN was a true Masterpiece for me. It became my 2nd favourite Main Instalment (VIII was #1).
By the end of HEAVENSWARD, XIV has tied VIII.
By STORMBLOOD, there is no contest for me.

It's so good. Estinien has such a great arc. I can't wait to keep playing.
@ You said it best near the end there with the narration, it is one of the best additions to the storytelling and every expansion has done good telling a perspective of the events unfolding with their voices.
To think, this is an entire full price game's worth of story and side content in Heavensward, after doing all that with ARR, and it is entirely free to play in the trial. People dont know what they're missing out on with rpg's. (Especially now with the story content being streamlined more to be solo-able with npc assistance)

It's cool seeing the Sohr Khai dungeon... they just changed that fight against Hraesvelgr last patch

Oh nice, what did they change? It's funny going through this game so late in it's lifespan, so many of these great moments and bosses were tweaked recently and it almost makes me feel great about waiting... Almost. 😅

They are better now. Like tons better. Only some early ARR Dungeons feel kinda gutted for me, but they are still better experiences, especially with a Duty Support NPC Party.

Hey thanks for the comment! I think the older SB VODs are gone (some might be on twitch) but I only tend to do edited videos for the... I guess you could say HUGE -ish moments in the MSQ. I think for Shadowbringers I'm going to start uploading the full VODs to the TGR Plays channel and I'll still edit out the highlights to the main channel here.
