I love my p80 its my first footstep into DSLR photograpy. Took many great pix wirh it and shot my daughters grad last year. I always hear and read dumb troll reviews remarks but haters. This is a big step from a shirt pocket point n shoot camera or smartphone. I love it.
The P80 a has higher resolution, 10.1mp to the S5's 8mp. P80 also has a bigger zoom range, 27-486mm while the s5 is only 36-432mm. The P80 can't manual focus unlike the S5 but P80 trumps it by being able to focus at 1cm compared 10cm on the S5. The p80 has continues shooting of up to 13fps, and a slightly bigger LCD at 2.7 inches. The P80 also weighs less at 405g to the S5's 550g. In short, the Powershot S5 is a pretty good camera but the Coolpix P80 wins on most respects with newer technology.
rami, if you were still wondering about the flash, I just got one today, and I was surprised at how bright the it was. I've never owned a camera, so I may not be the best judge, but it was a very bright light.
well quality, i cannot comment on; as i have a P80. before the P90 came out, i would say the P80 was the best point and shoot camera in the Nikon department. takes great pictures, and wonderful features. BUT then came along the P90, which is pretty much the same, the look exactly the same, except it it has a few more features, like a farther zoom, and a higher megapixel resolution. so yeah, go with the P90. i would imagine it's a fantastic camera.
There's an error: the mic is not on the side of the camera, but in front of it, next to the flash button. On the side there's the speaker, for video playback
I asked a friend of mine, who is a professional photographer the same thing. He said to go with the Nikon because they make better lenses. The Olympus zoom is 20x compared to 18x for Nikon, but that difference is minimal.
How do you get the video to take long videos? My sister has one and can only take a minute. She doesn't know the settings to increase the time. Thanks!
No kidding. And as long as you don't care about having the very newest model, you can get lots of great gear USED. All my Nikon bodies (F4, D1, D100, D2x), my Mamiya, my Canon XL2 and all my various lenses were bought used, mostly through Craigslist.
they can be as long as your memory card allows...the indicator in mine shows a 30 minute timer (hell of a long video time)...I have an 8gb card though.
DSLRs are like 2, 3, 4x more expensive. You need bulky bags to carry multiple lenses. Nice lenses are extremely expensive and some cost half of a super-zoom. Constantly switching lenses will mean more chances of getting dust between lens and body. I own a DSLR and more times than not, I bring my super zoom because I don't want to keep fidgeting around with that stuff. They can take near DLSR quality pics, assuming you're not a pixel nazi that views 10MP+ photos at 100%.
go for it. ;) maybe i will upload some photo's to see... i have this camera from september 2008. i have over 7000 photo's. all types of photo's. enjoy!
OMG IM GOING MAAAAD!!!!! Can someone help me choose between: Sony DSC Hx1 Nikon P80 Nikon P90 Or should i pick another (of course based on that style and price) PLEASE HELP ME!!! PLEASE!!!
old superzoom camera, only now has superzooms been abit more popular. i Recommend the Fuji HS20 with 30x opitical zoom auto or manuel focus n sweeping panoramic as well as slow motion video
i'd go with the P90 out of those three. sony needs to stick to making playstations, and the P90 is pretty much a better-enhanced version of the P80. Go with the P90.
I saw many revieuws, and they said that the p80 was better.. The p90 has more MP, I know, but the conclusion on those (profession) sites was that the p80 better is than the p90
