- I've become obsessed with this tiny point and shoot from 2010. It rocks an advanced body full of buttons and dials for the serious photographer. The lens is great. Versatile for all your adventure/snapshot needs. The colors are great. It's my go-to bike camera for this summer.

You are one of the few creators that shows an abundance of pictures from each camera you test.
That’s because other creators are often showing off new equipment, and they’re doing a grind to keep the manufacturers happy. They’re part of a sales machine.
Our guy is buying used cameras and has no one to answer to, which is why I enjoy this channel.
@@beefchickenIt really does make a big difference in how enjoyable the content is.
P7100 gang here
I’ve been looking to get this one! Is it worth getting over the p7000 ?
@@venum98you get an articulated screen and that is a good selling point
@@samdzairy I got it a week ago! I love it. New to cameras but it’s great starter for me
I recently bought the p7800 because i didnt find the p7100. I really want the CCD over CMOS but, the p7800 seems to be "better" (sorry my bad english).
Hey, wanne ask what is a fair price?
I don't find noise to be an issue on older CCD cameras anymore now Lightroom has its ridiculously good AI denoiser, as long as I shoot in RAW. It can even get eerily clean while staying sharp, which is a bit too much, but somewhere between 30 and 40 seems to be the sweet spot. Gives older cameras a bit more flexibility than having to permanently stick to base ISO
That's a good point to bring up. It really is getting so good, it's crazy.
I think you've got the wrong idea. If the information isn't in the digital file from the start, you are relying on AI to get it right. I'd be more inclined to take a small film camera out with me.
well then you are better off using older cmos cams, since the ccd noise feels really delicious to me
Good comment
@@Jack_Warner Oh Jack, Come on! 😃
Brilliant overview of the Nikon p7000. Lovely results and such a great looking camera! Love that style of grab and run cameras. Thanks for sharing and providing great content.
I have the P7100. I bought it brand new in 2012 and it's still going strong. Same lens and sensor as the 7000. I find the tilt out lcd very handy. I often use it like a waist level finder.
Tilt screen is a worthy upgrade!
What a gorgeous shot to open the video!
Wow, I didn't expect those tones and dynamic range from the Nikon P7000! You got great pictures. (Image noise from CCD sensors is beautiful.)
Thank you :) It is really nice
Your videos here are great, and really send home the point that it isn't the camera, it is the photographer that makes great images
i have one since this summer, and i'm so impressed of the film look of my photos... i love it !
AH!! I have always shot on Nikon & absolutely loved it but I feel like you never hear their name come up in all the internet camera talk so this was really encouraging 😊💖
I have the P7700 and I love the results and many different angles with the flip out screen.
The colors are strangely gorgeous. They really nailed the blues and greens
I really like the colors SOOC for this guy.
@@snappinessare there some settings for those colors?
Love the Lauf too!
That last photo of your kid actually has great color and nice redition. Like a William Eggelston photo from his book
So glad I found you’re channel old digital cameras really are the greatest!
Yep, got one of these from Japan, complete with immaculate black leather fitted case. I use the half case and only keep the camera in the full case. Super cool, and a great camera.
Oooo I bet that looks really classy! Nice!
Great commentary! I have this camera... bought it as a "tougher" pocketable camera ages ago, and recently revived it for something my son can use.
Great! He's lucky!
Yep. I have a G9 and it does very well in daylight. The photos are dreamy. Not sure why, I simply smile at the results.
Any G series camera will serve you well. Any compact of this class will.
Two things I love about G series: quiet shutter and powerful flash. I use the flash constantly in tricky lighting.
Can’t wait to get my hands on a 7000/7100. Thanks for sharing you experiences and thoughts.
Do you got it rn? What’s your thoughts on it? Which one to choose?
Always being ready to shoot 😊
I really feel inspired to take more pictures. I am almost finished with a roll in my Canon Z135. But I wish I had a more compact point and shoot.
Beautiful photos 👌🏽
Great stuff. This video motivated me to take out the P7100 and I must say I had so much fun, that I used it more than my DSLR.
I bought this when it first came out. It was so laggy and very susceptible to getting dust in the front of the lens. I also had the Canon powershot S90 as well. I ended up selling the p7000 and really enjoying the s90.
Thanks for another great video James! I have a Canon G11 which is really similar, personally I find it to not be that slow and I love the JPEGs out of it! I am excited to see what you create next! :) Happy snapping
I hear great things. I've never used one, but I think they were faster.
Cool. I like adventure biking and taking pictures too
Awesome! It's the best :)
Awesome video and really cool camera! Was pleased to see that thumb grip on there :D Used the same thing on my Canon G1X while I had it.
Lovely video and gorgeous shots!! Thank you!!
Love how you can add a polarizer on such a compact camera!
It's a great little unlock to add more functionality :)
Great review of the camera. Great everyday carry, compact camera that you can easily bring it with you.
I love pocket cameras for that reason :)
I haul my big DSLRs everywhere I go. You just need a bag on you and you are golden.
I love how at the end of the video you throw in a comment that points out something we all know about, but don't voice that often, like the N-eye-kon N-ick-on thing. Nerdy we know, but that's what we love about photography. By the way my go every where with me camera is
my trusty Canon Powershot 120sx.
Regards Rob (UK)
Very nice overview of the camera, thank you. I like the build quality of this series of old Nikon cameras, they feel very well made, have some quality feel.
My favorite compact camera that I still regularly use is the Olympus XZ2. It features a fast zoom lens, very good optical stabilization and can take an electronic viewfinder.
I hear a lot of people that enjoy the XZ1/XZ2. Great!
I have the Nikon P7800 and I love it. The mic input is pretty useful. I'm planning to do a vlog using it.
lot of cool features I was using a Canon PowerShot S120 then & loved it. I still carry it for its compact size. It was the low light mini monster of its day of compacts. But I always like and use Nikon for my big stuff.
I still use my Canon Powershot S110 when I’m on-the-go, still produces great images and has a ton of features!
Even my Powershot S40 makes fantastic images and is smaller and easier to carry around. Camera gear is mostly overrated. What counts is your eye and efforts you put in compositon and creativity.
Thanks for the video. I've been using the P7000 on overseas vacations for the last 13 years. I like taking pictures of my wife, and she taking pictures of me at various places around the world, And I like taking pictures of friends at dinners at night. The P7000 is superior by far to my Nikon A900 and Sony RX100 MkIV because unlike them, it has a decent internal flash - essential for fill-flash when my wife or I are back-lit, or at night.
I did buy a sceond P7000, but unfortunately, the internal battery on both cameras died, and repair cost was quoted at A$175 (US$114) each. So I went and bought a P7800 for that amount. But I still use the cameras, despite the nuisance of having to enter the date and settings whenever I charge the battery.
Despite having used the P7000 for so long, until I saw your video, I was unaware that it had an internal ND filter! Not sure how that escaped my attention, but thanks for letting me know.
Regards.
P means professional. I have a P5100. I even use my Nikon SB600 speedlite mounting it on the hotshoe!
I use my Ricoh GR digital more now for street photography in black and white. Fast to use.
Nice video and excellent photos!
I picked up a P7000 because of this video. I'm very happy with the colors and feel of the camera. It makes for a nice every day camera.
Firmware v1.2 from Nikon gives the camera more than decent auto focus. RAW write times are still on the slow side, but not bothersome to me.
Fantastic, I have one at home bought in 2011❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I guess I had this on my list for a reason
I have the DSLR cousin of the P7000, the D200, and I love to shoot with it.
D200 is fantastic :)
i remembered seeing this back then. But i was in dslr land by then. The nikon d40 was ccd too. When I got the d7000 cmos the colors were flatter. Now when I bike I use the cotton carrier, can place my little nikon z30 or little panny m4/3 on my chest.
luvd the images
For my EX1 I just slap on some colour noise removal and it looks great, almost like film grain
These images look great and the cam's industrial design looks like it could have been made yesterday by Fuji. A new version with fast responses would be awesome.
My never leave home without camera is the Panasonic ZS100 (well it will be again when I am done with my 2024 project of carrying a different camera every week) It's the perfect Jack of All Master of none camera that can do a bit of everything in a small pocket able package. On the flip side it doesn't excel at anything. The 10x zoom on the ZS100 is a nice range but can come up short at times. It's either this or the Olympus XZ-1 if I want something with the CCD more retro feel.
I was looking for a small camera for daily use, but not had enough money. My friend, who is a pro photographer, recommended me to look for this camera. In my region it costs around $70-100 in good condition, but even this was too expensive for me to buy it. And then he sends me a link to this camera but only $20 because lens wasn't working. I brought it and got it just few hours ago from post. It looks much smaller than i thought (before it i owned only d3000), yesterday i'll meet my friend to give him this camera for repair, because he knows how to fix it. Looking forward to get more shots of my city and nature of my country.
Oh good, I hope you can get it working!
@@snappiness so, many days of repairing appeared few sad news: camera kinda works, but buttons and lenses mechanism broken. Today i found d7000 for like $9-10, it works, but has damaged screen, case and front lens, but fully working buttons and lens mechanism. So, we decided to order it and just assemble one camera of it's parts. Also i found another d7000 for $40, gonna order it. Idk what i'll do with two cameras, maybe gift or sell second one to this friend because he also liked this cameras.
I am looking for a compact camera, but this is probly not the camera for me, but still enjoyable to watch yr video cos of the charming and beautiful images. Thks.
My edc is my grd from Ricoh! Love it
I want to get into old Ricohs :) (just picked up a cheap gx200 to play with)
I keep a nikon1 V3 with me all the time. Love to mount F glass on it.
That's super cool. What a neat system
My “cycling camera” is a Lumix TS7 and a Canon S120. Fits in my jersey pocket 😊
What a cool little camera. I always loved Nikon's digital offerings, from their point n shoots to the bridges. And it even has a viewfinder! I just wish it wasn't so dang pricey. That goes for nigh every 2010s digital camera, why are they so expensive on the used market anyway?
Oh and great photos btw. It really is the photographer that makes the photo, God knows what I'd do with a 10mp small sensor 😅
At least you dont crop alot the zoom range takes care of that for sure, to some extent
Those jpegs looks AWESOME
I briedly acquired a Nikon P5000, and what immediately leapt out at me, like the P7000 here, was how slow it was in every way. I got rid as soon as I could.
may i know where you get the adapter to put the ND filter? cause I tried to find one in my country but its hard
I’ve been wanting to pick up this camera to compare to my Fuji X10. I like more of the physical dial control on the Nikon
Does anyone know how to do burst mode or like a sport mode for this camera pls thx cause I wanna take pic of things in motion
I really like the Nikon P7000. I alternate between it and the Canon G10 on a regular basis.
Are you interested in trying the Panasonic DMC-FZ10? From 2003, 4/3 sensor, and built in Leica lens
I’m no longer keen carrying heavy bodies and changing lenses in my mid-seventies. But I don’t leave home without my Sony RX100 VII.
What are the settings? and how do you edit the photos?
this is one of the best Nikon Coolpix cameras out there, the 7100 is a bit better even, for example because of it's tilting lcd screen 🙂
Super. What super review. Very super.
What is that little handle on the top of this camera?
can someone tell how long is the shutter speed range of this camera?
Bought the P7000 after seeing your reel on instagram and have taken it everywhere since. Now “upgraded” to the p7100 since the other had some issues. So much fun for €50 ❤️
I haven't looked into what the later models bring to the table, but I imagine they're good as well!
helllpp pls, does anyone know how i might go about replacing the sd card SLOT in this camera, i think the reader is broken cuz mine doesnt register any kind of memory cards.
What are you setting on this?
I need a bag like that on my bike for compact cameras!
Yeah it's great! It's a top tube bag, you can Google that and come up with a bunch. Get the Velcro kind if you bike doesn't have top tube mounts.
I have a Canon g11 and g16. These cameras are such powerhouses.
Awesome. I want to try a Canon G series more after trying this camera.
@@snappiness they’re a lot a like. Best part is the write speeds of the later models.
Based on Snap's previous short about this camera, I picked one up from eBay, and I love it. The P7000 has a great feel to it. Mine doesn't have the thumb grip, unfortunately.
Awesome stuff, glad you're enjoying it too
for how much? I got some deals in my local store but still I want to know what exact price this thing worth
Picked one up at a great price in great condition and I have to agree with you. It is a really nice little camera. What thumb rest do you have on it and where did you get it? I have big hands and it looks like a nice addition. I'm really a Pentax guy but this little Nikon is really sweet.
i’ve been eyeing out for a p7000 line canon g10 -g12 even the olympus xz-1 which has better SOOC JPEGS???
@snappiness do you prefer this to the Canon PowerShot G12? I've been eyeing the G12 but am curious on your take.
Were you using it with the 1.2 firmware? I'm considering this camera but this slow workflow seems like a bummer to me:(
great review, thanks. I have a LX1, I love the pictures that it takes, but I find it almost unusable. The LCD is tiny and it's too slow for me. This Nikon sounds very slow, too, but how about the lcd sensor? Any advice on a similar sized, "cheap" cameras a little more responsive?
how does this compare with the p7100?
Hey please I’m begging you I just bought the same camera and I love the photos but how do I work on the settings and stuff please help me please help me
I used to have one. I wish i never sold it. I loved it dearly.
I really like your videos. I wish you would review a modern compact like Canon G5 X Mark II. Not Sony RX100 series tho.
Heyo!! First want to thank you for introducing me to this camera found one on eBay for $70!! And loving it so far.
So I did find the Filter Ring on Aliexpress where did you get the ND filters though?!
Since my comment in your Instagram reel till this moment, the prices seems kinda good, we'll see what happens in the future.
your opinion about canon eos m10 or m3 m6
How do I transfer photos to my phone?
I wonder if at some stage, you could possibly do a post on the wonderful and unusual Fujifilm x-S1 bridge camera. I would be most interested to hear your views on this anomaly in the Fuji x series lineup. They are still reasonably priced and provide excellent value for money in my opinion. Even though the X-S1 came out in 2012, it has all the ingredients for classic status. The manual zoom function is a real plus and harkens back to another age.
That looks great. I am currently shooting with the older Fuji bridge camera, the S200EXR and enjoying it.
I always leave home without that camera.
OK got myself one. Was "lightly used" but turned out to be "new" 😁
I have just bought it for 57 usd 😀 Thanks to you.
It takes photographs and that's about all a camera needs to do.
It's a bit like the Canon G16 .. I love my G16, but did have my eye on the Nikon A, and just because Mattias Burling made it sound so good ... I have resisted so far. I do think my GAS problem has gotten worse than @one month two cameras.
I had that one, I now have the coolpix A as it has apc sensor. Ok
Similar configuration to the Canon G series like the G10 I have, also CCD.
I got an old Canon G10 that is basically the equivalent to the Nikon you’re reviewing. Unfortunately mine has been heavily used and has a lot of dust inside the lens which shows up in the sky!
The Canon G cameras up to the G7 were a little bricklike (but still, take good photos in good light), but the G7 introduced a COOL look that continued right 'til the end of the G line. I didn't know until this video that Nikon had a very similar-looking offering. Looks like there was some design borrowing by one side or the other.
This camera looks EXTREMELY similar to a Fujifilm X-Pro3!!!
I have the P7100. Same body, sensor & lens as the P7000 but with a tilt display, faster buffer & shooting times, and an extra control dial. Unfortunately the autofocus is about the same as the P7000. It's iffy even for video, and will eventually lose focus on a static subject.
Bare in mind there are some things you should be aware of with both the P7000 & P7100. The lens covers can start to stick snd won't open entirely, and the LCD display can develop dead lines of pixels from heat (but eventually they will recover). As with any nikon camera I've ever used, they can freeze at any moment so keep that in mind and reinsert the battery to restore normal operation.
Interesting issues that can happen - mine already does have a semi-sticky lens cover (not all the time). The tilt screen on the 7100 is a worthy upgrade! That would be useful.
@@snappiness My P7100 thankfully does not have a sticky Lens cover, although I did get it hardly used with the original box. It did develop dead pixels on the LCD display but that happened when I was in 90°+ desert heat, and as I learned it did eventually fully recover over the span of a couple weeks when I returned home in the PNW.
The tilt display is an awesome feature. You can shoot at waist level or over your head to get the composition you want.
Do i really need an Nd filter for my p7000?
One thing is missing on it is the APS-C
if you do the firmware update it speeds up quite a bit from what ive heard.
I've had that camera for 10 years, bringing it to my hikes, but the last few years I seldom use it because I find it too heavy and a hassle to shoot while climbing so I bought a lightweight action camera Insta360 go3 just weeks ago. Thinking I might finally retire it, I came across this video. Maybe I didn't really appreciate it because I am no photographer and didn't realize its power since I never really dabbled into it other than put it into auto picture and video mode.
I do enjoy action cameras for quick videos. I have the Go 2 and really love it. How's the Go 3?
@@snappiness So far, a perfect action cam for an introvert with extroverted activities. Very subtle but crafty. Less rugged than the other action cameras but still fitting for the outdoors.
Congrats on 30k subs! I'd love to try this camera out even though it seems to be a near duplicate of the Canon PowerShot G series - I have the G11 and love it and "Canon G11" is the main search term driving views to my channel. Haha. Biggest difference I can tell between the cameras is the screen - Canon opted for the smaller flip-out screen. But this camera is definitely on my list for one to showcase on the channel (and most likely keep in my growing collection).
Thank you! And I'm subscribed to your channel as well. Happy to have more people interested in this stuff publishing content.
I'll try the G series at some point, I've had friends offer to lend me theirs. I'm interested which is the better camera. But without a doubt this one is good!
@@snappiness Appreciate you subscribing! 🙌
I looked up the prise history, that was a cheap camera, ended up being dirt cheap. But I've never seen these used in Norway and no longer in retailer stock. But better than a smartphone camera. For the price it's not bad. Very compact indeed.
