What a joy to see Tommy's sons performing. Such beautiful singers, such quality in their voices. I hope that they are still out there building on their Father's legacy. Tommy and his talent are too important to be lost to future generations. A voice for the ages. Much loved. Very much missed.
Bill Hanlon Still the finest folk singer Ireland has ever produced, I saw him a few times many years ago with the Clancy Brothers and later as a double act with Liam Clancy. I am glad I found this interview to add to my collection of Makem memorabilia , Brilliant. Cheers
Its A Very Sad Shame that the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem Aren,t Alive Anymore. I Used to Listen to Many of the Songs That they Wrote And Sung and I Surely Did Enjoy It Very Much and I Sure Miss their Company and I Do Wish to Hope that there Could be More Irish Groups Like them and The Only Thing is That there will Never Be Another Group Like theres Ever Again. Long Live the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem.. David W Glavin Burnaby BC
Tommy Makem was a saint, a patron saint of Irish folk music. His narrative at 12:00 about Irish immigrants leaving their home counties on their gravestones was very touching. Years ago, while tracing our family tree, my parents came to a dead end. Until they found a grave in Portland ME which had the name of our ancestor's hometown. (Iveleary, now called Inchegeela). From there we could trace the family further back into Ireland.
I’d heard of this special during my first trip over. My wife is a Dubliner and we were dating at the time. So nice to see. You’ve uncovered a couple of nice gems. Thanks so much. Any other M/C, CBTM, etc media still to come? Either way, thanks again. Tommy’s music means a lot to those of us lucky enough to grow up with it, see him often, and even get to meet and know him slightly. Wonderful, wonderful man and performer.
Pure brilliance. So glad I'm. Irish. See you Tommy in heaven.❤ (Tom O'Reilly)
