I’ve used my M2 air with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD for iOS development in XCode with huge success! The battery life, performance, and portability are all great.

I was between the M2 air and 14inch M2 pro as a personal/ business laptop but I still think the 14inch is the better choice for longevity.
Good to have found this comparison video as I have been looking to upgrade to a newer laptop from sometime. The lineups can get pretty confusing for people who don't get all the technicalities or fine print, which includes me ! Greatly thankful for this video.
I wish the Macbook Air would have all the ports of the Pro Version as well, that would be so awesome, especially considering the size and thinness of that thing
You can literally buy a hub for $10-20. That way you’re not burdening the form factor for the few cases when those extra ports are needed.
This is a great comparison of the Mac's. It's very detailed with a lot of useful information for purchasing and understands the upgraded/downgrades from each generation. It's pretty insane how much work you put in EVERY single video that comes out and how fast you're able to upload them. You are one of the few people that actually pay attention to all of the changes made to the machines and what people should probably buy instead.
Really very nice comparison. I planned to buy the M2 MBA but after your video I realized that the M2 pro MBP should be taken in my consideration. I learned a lot about the M2 pro MBP

I would say that the screen and the sustained performance in the pro version is really appealing, but for those who need to take it around, the lightness of the MBA is definely going to make a change.

I really appreciate this comparison as I started contemplating an M2 MacBook Air as a means to stay under budget if I can get performance that I need. Based on the features that you get with the M2 pro, I’d still shell out the cash because of how I’d use the machine. Great work as usual!

The M2 Air is quite appealing due to its portability and lower cost, but I think I would most likely end up picking the M2 Pro, especially because of the screen, sound quality and SD card slot. Thanks again for all your hard work. Furthermore, it is incredible how you can identify all the pros and cons of every device, allowing us to make the best choice for us.
I’m happy with my MacBook M1 Pro that I bought shortly before the M2 presentation. I also don't think that the prices will fall so quickly. Especially because of the speed comparison of the SSDs.

@@mad616 because before dropping that kind of money on a piece of tech I want to make sure I cover every possible reason for needing one machine or the other to make the best purchase. The same reason it took me a month to choose between purchasing the Canon EOS R5 and the Canon EOS R6.
@@jakobmorningstar I bought the R6 and will wait for the R5 II, so what did you choose, what was the deciding factor for you and any regrets?
@@jeffreyhawker9042 I decided on the R5. I actually had a hard time choosing between the R, R6, and R5. Ultimately the deciding factors were Megapixel count and color reproduction and a small part was created express B. After purchasing the R5 the first thing I used it for was my brothers wedding and the photos came out fantastic, I will add though that my youngest brother bought the R6 about a month after my purchase of the R5 and that camera is amazing as well having seen some of the sports photos he’s done with it.
Edit: I have no regrets over the purchase and I think that’s mostly because I took the time to really decide what I wanted. I rarely have buyers remorse as a result of taking my time with big purchases. But it’s a lot of money to spend so I’m my mind taking your time is worth it.

Yeah that’s true, used to be zero comparison. But I guess the Pro and Max chip are what make the biggest difference with the Pro line now.
M2 MacBook Air makes so much sense in today's day and age. I wish it had some active cooling though (and a few more ports) It is a must in countries like India. Great reviews guys!

There are so many computer models which are often very similar, so it’s not that easy to find the best fit for the own needs. Thanks to all of your tests and reviews, we get a better idea about the differences, the good things and the issues.

Great comparison. By the time I've gone up to the 16/512 config on the M2 I'm not far from the discounted M1 Pro - the M2 Pro doesn't seem worth it ATM for most of us.

Thanks for the video and having a deeper look in the benchmarks. Although the M2 Air is more the lightweight unit the price difference between the 14 and the air is less than the previous generation.

Thank you. Excellent video and a lot of great points made. I don't do any video work but do plan to use Logic pro x as my Digital audio workstation. I do value the additional ports on the pro but can not ignore the price differential. I can get the MBA M2 (8gb Ram/512gb) £800 cheaper than the MBP M2 Pro (16GB Ram/512gb/ 10 core) which I can not ignore. I will of course end up buying the MBP at some point in the future but I think the MBA ticks most of my requirements. Thanks again for your great video.

Hi guys. As an amateur photographer, lot of my tasks could be done very well in MBA, but the ports, the speakers, and the lightroom performance make the 14 MBP ideal for me
About the mics, I think the pro muffles the sound better, but when hearing in a lower volume it could be worse. I think that testing with background noise would be nice.

One item not noted is the ability to add external monitors. MBA only supports one, while MBP supports 2.

I am an experienced software engineer that uses IDE, virtualization, and containers orchestrator (docker, etc), and I still struggling to decide if the MacBook Air (8‑core CPU, 10‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine, 24GB unified memory, 1TB SSD) could be a good choice.
I see the Pro 14 (12‑core CPU, 19‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine, 16GB unified memory, 1TB SSD storage) as almost $300 more expensive.
The fans are really important in cases people take zoom/teams call with the laptop on their lap.
I wish Apple lower the prices of earlier model when new version comes. Doesn't make sense from a customer perspective but I think Apple's sales data might indicate a better revenue from higher prices (even at a lower sales number).

Can't really comment if one is better than the other, but as you mentioned, it's personal choice based on needs. I would take either one :-). Using the MBP M1 Pro right now, along with the MacBook Pro M1. Love both!
