Thank you so much! I’m making the Peter Pan Neverland stocking for my son for his first Christmas stocking and I’ve barely sewn in my life. These are soooo helpful!!! ❤ Have a happy holiday.

Thank you! This is so helpful!! Could you show how you attach stuffed pieces to the stocking?! I'm getting ready to do my first ever and watching videos to prepare myself! (I'm thinking I've gotten in over my head!!😬)

Why do you not note the back when finishing. I feel knotting it makes it more secure.

Going under the stitches and through some felt fibers is enough to hold . Especially on a face. I knot when I know it needs to be secured. Sometimes, I knot 2 or 3 times. Just depends in what parts I’m working on.

You said they stab method is cheating but that’s the only method I know. What is the other one?

When you read the instructions, they say to appliqué the pieces to the top and not go all the way through to the back . That is the same with the embroidery stitched. You just grab the top layer of the felt.

Am I supposed to separate each floss? Each strand separate?

    • @michelleannewood

For appliqué.. you’ll use 1 strand. For embroidery stitches you’ll use 2 mostly. Sometimes or 3 . I separate the floss from the 36” of 6 strands as I need it. I usually stitch with pieces no longer than 18”. Less knotting and tangles this way. 🙂 Hope this helps.

What's the non-cheating, not stab method? Lol. Because I've always done it the way you do.

😁 the non cheating way is to outline stitch without going all the way through the felt. It’s how the instructions say to do the embroidery stitching. On faces , I find it’s much easier to use the “ stab method. I’ll do the outline stitch as instructed on all other parts of the stocking though 👍🏻
