    Always read the warnings and instructions.
    Wear protective gloves and clothing to protect your skin.
    Consider wearing goggles if you might splash it into your eyes.
    Make sure to have good ventilation in the area, open windows and doors if you can.

    Great to see a young man being resourceful and hard working to earn money. Did you know there are bin liner bags large enough for these garbage bins? Once your bins are clean, use a bin liner bag with clips or an elastic band to hold the bin liner in place until garbage day, remove and set aside, tie up the bin liner bag before putting the bin out for pickup. After pick up, spray with disinfectant spray and let air in the sun, then put in a new bin liner bag. Never have a gross bin again.

    I just finished 2 of 3 trash bins an hour ago. No pressure washer and no dish soap or bleach. Sprayed Simple Green and water with sprayer with long handle scrub brush. I got most of the crap and smell out. It’s a lot of work for a 60+ year old guy. I’m sure the kid worked his butt off as well. I still have the 3rd bin left. That’ll be next week when my back has recovered. Good video. I hope the kid got paid well.

      Yep, simple green and as high a pressure garden hose as you can will do it just fine. Especially for the plastic ones. Let it air dry and then dump a bunch of baking soda in afterwards to absorb any lingering smells. I used to do that twice a year for the indoor garbage containers at the apartment building I managed.

    I did this last summer and made about $100 cleaning a bunch of cans. My steps:
    1. Pressure wash outside (wheels and lid)
    2. Pressure washed the inside
    3. Put soap in and do it again (if a small can I fill it up and let it sit for 5 minutes)
    4. I dump it
    5. Then i scrub the outside and inside with soap
    6. Wash again
    7. Then dump again
    8. Then put a fresh small sent
    9. Let it sit in the sun to dry
    10. Done!
    Notes: I paid $5 a can and 2 for $10 and 3 for $12 I’m making the price this year higher to $10 for 1 can $15 for 2 and $20 for 3 and took some 30 minutes and no breaks for 1 can

      No problem! I made my own but I forgot what to put in it.. but I know I used some mint smell in it. And during the summer time garbage cans reek bad so it’s the best time to clean them. And it gets hot in California in like 90 degree whether.

    As a garbage can cleaner myself, I know a ton about garbage cans. Most garbage cans don’t emit odors as they are meant to trap odors. The cleaner here used too much chemicals. Scrub brushes like the ones uses here, are a great way to scratch and damage garbage cans. And doing that, can reduce trash can life. Not to mention you must be careful with what chemicals you use on the cans as they have logos for a reason, and washing the logos off can confuse garbage truck drivers.

    A pro would know not to use Dawn and Bleach together. Will it work? Yes. Is it safe? No. Dawn (and other dishwashing liquids) even gives a safety warning saying "Do Not Mix With Bleach".
    You need to use a detergent that is formulated to mix safely with Bleach. Not all detergents are alike.

    • @CleanFreakGermaphobe
      @CleanFreakGermaphobe  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, you're correct! Not good to mix the two.

    • @RandieselDad
      @RandieselDad ปีที่แล้ว

      It's as "safe" as bleach is by itself. It says don't mix with bleach because they don't want liability from you washing things with Dawn & Bleach and getting mad that things are discolored or using bleach on your dishes and getting sick. There's no ammonia in Dawn, it's perfectly safe to mix with regular bleach, and used by virtually every pressure washing, mold remediation, or sanitation company.

      Bleach breaks down into salt, oxygen, and water after a short period. It's actually hot harmful to the environment at all except when it's in it's chlorinated state. Which evaporates pretty quickly once exposed to air.
      It's definitely a harsher cleaning item than say, simple white vinegar. But it does break down.
