This was really good, but on my Labels on the left side, I see the icon but there is no text and the labels I've added don't appear at all (but they do appear when I go to settings). And when I go to settings, the box on the right they are all ticked and they're also highlighted as Show, but I must be doing something wrong, but I can't see what that is.

Thanks for your question. If you can go into your settings again and look at the labels area, the checkboxes are for something different, so you want to look at the column "Show in label list." You want 'show' to be in bold for all of your labels. If it's blue, go ahead and click on it. This should switch it to bold. Then when you go back to your inbox, it should be showing. If you still have trouble, please feel free to schedule a time for a Tech Stress Breakthrough Call with me - there's no charge. Here's the link to schedule: gatewayproductivity.as.me/consultation

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately, you cannot put labels in your own order by dragging them. However, you can do any combination of the following: Number the labels (in front of the names) to have them in numerical order and/or you can use symbols in front of the names to make certain labels jump to the top. I usually use asterisks (*), but you can also use the @. The more of a symbol you use, the more it bumps up (i.e. *** is higher on the list than **). Also, @ comes before * in the ranking, in case that helps. Lastly, if there are labels you rarely need to reference, you can use the tips in this video to hide the ones you don't need to see regularly. I hope that helps!

Any way to hide a label from the Gmail iOS app? The "Show in message list" checkbox doesn't seem to do the trick.

Great question, @AnyAlpine. I know you can go into the settings on the computer and remove labels from the IMAP connection, but that will affect all devices that pull in your email. You are correct - I don't believe unchecking the "show in message list" carries through to a phone.

Jennifer you ALMOST gave me hope that I can show my two hidden labels on my PC. But no such luck. I can only create a label . So frustrating and I need to delete one of them. Have gone to settings go , show all and checked everything to show. My created labels still have not appeared under inbox compose or in the categories under show all settings. Can not see boxes to check!

Thanks for your feedback. It's a bummer that this is happening to you. I apologize, but I'm not sure what exactly is happening without looking at it with you. If you'd like to schedule a no-charge call with me so we can look at it together, please feel free to do that at this link: www.gatewayproductivity.com/booking/

I have labels that I use for multi-contacts. What in most programs are called groups. My problem is I cannot find the labels. I go to the settings and click on the Labels and it still does not show them all. If I go to compose a new message and type in the name of the group that I want to send a email to it pulls that named group up. Unfortunately as I cannot see them on the left or when I go to the Labels settings I cannot made and edits.
There also seems to be no way that one can do a search for labels.
Any help you can offer would be appreciated. Currently I am looking at changing the organisation I volunteer to to another email program that is easier to work with.

Thank you for your question. I apologize that I wasn't able to get back to you sooner.
You are absolutely correct that what you've created is called a Label. However, it is a label that lives in the "Contacts" area of Google. Instead of a grouping of emails, it is a grouping of contacts. You can get to that area two different ways - you can go to contacts.google.com and it should automatically connect you if you're already logged into Gmail. You can also get to "Contacts" from within Gmail by clicking on the box of dots (sometimes called the waffle) in the upper right corner. If you hover over it, it says "Google apps." Then look for the "Contacts" icon.
Within Contacts, you'll see your labels in the bottom left area.
      I hope that helps!

Great video. I have one question. I use both Outlook and Gmail. On my Gmail account in Outlook, I set up 3 folders; each folder has about 10 folders nested inside. In Gmail on the desktop, in the column on the left, the 3 folders show and I can click on them to see the nested folders inside. However, the folders on my Pixel phone are all shown and not nested. Is there a way to have them nested on the phone?

Thanks for the feedback and the question! I have the same issue - sounds like you're using the Gmail app. Yes, Gmail shows all of the folders in a big list, and I do not know of a way to change that. I wish I had better news for you! If you're able to switch to Outlook on the phone, I just tested it, and it does nest the folders for you. Good luck!

Thanks for your question. I would recommend starting from a computer for this process because these settings aren't available on the phone. You'll go to the label settings in Gmail on the computer, and then you want to see which labels are marked as "imap" to make changes for your phone. If the box is checked, the label will show on the phone. If the box is not checked, that label should not carry over to the phone. I hope that answers your question.
