I came to know Rev Galkande Dhammananda about a decade ago when I was totally disappointed with the way our Buddhist monks were chasing power wealth and creature comforts, they would have left behind at the time of ordination. I am also realistic as to why it happens to be so, the majority of our monks are ordained as children due to socio-economic or superstitious beliefs such as Astrology. They have not committed themselves to a life of austerity, and our believers are made to believe that donating to the Sangha is a way of banking for the future lives with extremely high-interest rates. Some rogues like the self-proclaimed arhath living an extremely comfortable life at a place called (උමංදාව) at the expense of stupid people who seem to believe in this concept of banking for the next life. Dear Ven sir very interesting and timely discussion. I am sure these will trickle down specially among youth who are disappointed on the current context and help bring sanity to the thought process . May ven sir's have strength to carry on these valuable programmes of I would say 'national interest'.
