The song is about his sister, who almost died from an abusive relationship in 2003. He argued with his sister to leave and this song was what he came up with to persuade her. Obviously worked since she’s no longer with him.

Before the outro, people thought it already ended, and started chanting for live 5 minutes. The band waited until we finished, and played the outro. A few minutes after that, they came back on stage, and finished the rest of their set.
I remember they played in Lowlands a few year back, and the decided to quit before the set was ended because it was like 42 degrees celcius out (don't blame them). But they still ended with Best Of You. And after the song was done, we kept chanting that little part that the audience chants, until they came back and finished the set.
Just saw these guys in St Louis. Best of you was so incredible, it was acoustic but man it was just as powerful (I think they play Best of You acoustically now as the song wears Taylor out.) Chant still broke out and everything, such an incredible night. I won't be able to speak normally for days.
