My home airport, San Diego International Airport has changed a lot since then. Starting off with the Green Build which expanded Terminal 2. After that British Airways and Japan Airlines started flying into SAN daily. Now the airport has it's own International Terminal and the airport has this many international flights:
    1. British Airways - LHR - SAN
    2. Japan Airlines - NRT - SAN
    3. Air Canada Rouge - YYZ - SAN
    4. Air Canada Express - YVR - SAN
    5. WestJet - YYC - SAN
    6. Edelweiss Air - ZRH - SAN
    7. Lufthansa - FRA - SAN
    8. Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines - SJD - SAN
    9. Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines - PVR - SAN
San Diego International Airport seems to have grown a lot since then. :D

Wow, thank you. That made me remember the countless hours I spent in those years at the end of that runway watching those aircraft landing. I always loved to see the BA 747 most, but also the FedEx DC10. I’m old.

@@gnnascarfan2410 it flys in everyday. No longer a 747, mostly an A350-1000 and rarely a 777. We used to toast the beautiful 747 at happy hour in our garden every day until 2020.

@@tpolerex7282 Yes but the flight was stopped in late 2003 due to fuel prices and unprofitability, despite a high load factor.
London-San Diego flights did not return until almost 8 years later in Summer 2011.

Great Airport & video! This approach shown is so steep that the planes are but 150' above multi story parking garage aligning their glideslope path ! If you're driving on Interstate 5 there planes are so close overhead you can read belly decals - not joking.

The approach looks and sounds a lot like the back country STOLs, steep with an increase of power just before touchdown. I guess even the biggest airline pilots are still flying Cubs in their hearts.
