Our first 200 mile road trip averaged 42 mpg in our 2013 Sentra SV. It was a cool day so AC was off and we used the cruise. We love this car.

This car looks amazing! I don't understand the people who are saying this car looks ugly from the outside, in my opinion, it looks WAY better than the Focus, Forte, Civic, etc...I own a 2010 sentra in the same blue color and I can't wait till my lease is up so that I can pick the new model up!
It looks so much better on the outside than the on in the inside.

great review. the problem with reviews of this car is that it doesn't appeal to people who care about cars. it's good for a commuter if the driver doesn't care about or understand acceleration

Well, they did, last year. My 2012 SL has the 8 speaker Rockford Fosgate and I like it allot. Wish they had used some directional tweeters on the doors which would have helped on the highs. The dual 8 inch Rockford subs produce some tight bass. Have not heard the newer Bose one. I used to have a LE Murano with Bose and it was good, but response was not flat. Bose freq response never is. Most of the masses will feel Bose is an upgrade which is why Nissan chose it.

I bought my Sentra SR fully loaded in 2015... other than the 0-60 slowness it has served us extreamly well. Best of all it has the spacious interior and fantastic fuel economy.
30 extra hp makes that up. plus the longer wheel base in this model makes it handle like a altima ;) love my car :D i actually traded in my 09 versa hatch 1.8 / 122hp for this one
GREAT CAR.
I really like this new Sentra. It, like the other new 2013 Nissan cars, is looking more sophisticated and upscale. Almost Infiniti-like. They're stylish, comfortable, affordable, well-built, should be pretty reliable, and get great gas mileage. Unless these characteristics just aren't your "thing", they are great cars. I ended up getting a '12 Versa sedan. Wish I could have waited and bought the '13 model, since several of my complaints were addressed for '13.
palebeachbum Totally. Why does 0 to 60 mean so much? It doesn't mean anything to me, and I have a 2013 Sentra.

looks better than the previous gen but anyone else think the exhaust pipe on the left side is rather odd? Most cars with single exhaust have it on the right side.

For the people talking about why the HP is lowered down: they made it 130 HP but 150Ib. Lighter than the older models.

The 2013 Nissan Sentra can match the 0-60 time of the 2013 Honda Civic sedan with 5AT, if the Sentra used Synthetic Oil. The Civic always uses 0W-20 Synthetic Oil for improved fuel economy, 0-60 time, and engine durability, along with reliability. The Sentra is actually a great competitor to the Hyundai Elantra in terms of fuel economy and features.
I'm pretty sure the 2013 Accord makes the best CVT now.
this is definitely the best sentra since the '91-'94 version. This car looks best in class along with the Elantra.
still want a spec v version.
My co worker got one of these and I have to say even as a gti owner it's a very good car for 18600 dollars or so!
I do think they are over doing the led strip daytime running lamps.They do look good imo to a car though. I remember though looking at an Audi with those stunning led accents was a sure head turner. I think car makers need to find distinctive new ways to implement LEDs. Maybe just stick with an old style DRL lamp housing and just fit it with an LED.

My 2012 sentra SL had the 8 speaker Rockford fosgate which sounds very good. I'm sure this bose system will be very nice for a compact. But I'm thinking the older Rockford speakers produce a flatter response then the Bose. Thats why audiophiles can't stand bose. Bose fails to simply produce a flat response which is the whole point in music reproduction. However the Nav has been upgraded with other added functions to the radio. I'd probably take this over last years model overall.

Elantra isn't too bad looks wise, but I still would choose the Sentra over the Elantra without hesitation.
@TFLcar, might want to revise your statement about the elantra being the only car to get 40mpg in the segment, EPA made Hyundai revise it MPG rating after their investigations into Hyundai's MPG claims. Hyundai's own website now pegs the elantra at 38mpg
When they take it out on the bridge it says versa. Probably should fix that

If you want fun get the sonic. If you want utility get the Versa. If you want both get a Golf GTI.

How much do they cost? Only reason I want one is because people are selling them for less than 4K. While the 2011 Camry V6 SE I want inmate over 6k and have a tons of miles so I’m done with Toyota, too expensive for what it is.
i miss my versa hatch. i would be getting a 2013 alima right now if i didnt trade it in for my 2011 altima. i wonder if it would've still been working. adding the mileage up i wouldve had 335,000 miles on it right now with the cvt!!!

They should offer the 1.6 direct injected turbo that is in the Juke with 188hp and 177 torque. But only on the SR or a new Spec V. I'm thinking a de-tuned version of the 1.6 with gas injection could still get 40 mpg for the sentra. As far as efficiency goes, gas injection is the way to go. I was really thinking Nissan would have used a gas injected motor this time around. They could have easily improved performance while increasing MPG. Gas injection costs more so Nissan left it out.
I feel the older 2.0 with 140 hp and 147 lbs of torque was a better match. With the older model, you never heard any reviewer say it was under-powered. 0-60 is now 2 seconds less. A CNET reviewer said this new one is unsafe to pass (2 lane road) called it "Tortured groan of acceleration". Engine only produces 130 hp/128lb torque (ouch). I drive mine on I40 every week, pass at 75mph and it takes no time to hit 90. Better off getting Altima at this point. Nissan should use Jukes 1.6 turbo GDI.

Why the heck Nissan didn't instal those LED headlights on the new Altima???? It doesn't make sense to have them on the cheaper model.
im sorry you think its ugly it looks way better than the old one and i drove it not slow dosnt feel underpowered but i didnt drive on interstate.

Focus is sportier and faster while the Sentra is bigger and more fuel efficient. What is more important to you....room or sporty handling?
I feel like Cvt's wouldn't be as reliable. I think after a while they will improve, like the next gen Accord Cvt isn't too bad, It reacts like a regular automatic. I would still prefer to row my own gear box though!

I say it looks a lot better than the old sentra, BUT...
It still has a CVT, it does not emphasize bieng fun to drive, and I would wish I bought something else.

They NEED to bring back the SE-R Spec V.... that thing was iconic and if they popped some nismo tuning to it, it would be nothing short of awesome.

the altima is a much better buy. that sentra is 2 secs slower to 60 than the mid 80s maximas
I love the interior, I think it is very stylish and has good use of materials. The exterior is okay, could have been better but the LEDs are nice. But I just dont understand why Nissan would downgrade the power of the car. I dont think a car manufacturer should ever do that, even if it is to get better mpg. But overall, it's a good car.

i have a Nissan Sentra 2013 SR model i drive in Phoenix Arizona i get 47 MPG on the highway but if i put in Sports mode it gives less about 32 mpg i drive by my self most of the time my weight is 200lbs so i don't now how am getting 47 MPG i do use Mobil 1 oil change this best and i only put Super Shell Gas maybe that's the trick
Nissan went from a 2.0 to 1.8 on this model. I own a white 2012 sentra sl with leather and see this new model as a downgrade in style and performance. Nissan said they would keep the same performance by making this lighter and reducing drag. Wrong. Its almost 2 sec slower. Worst, this small motor has less torque. I average 32 MPH with 2.0 motor so the new one will do better. More room in back, but other then that, I'm glad I bought a 2012 over this. The 2.0 is a better match.
So the Elantra makes more power, gets better mileage, and does not have that annoying CVT.
