    For less than 15 minutes you succeeded in explaining me that material better than my EU professor for the whole semester. THANK YOU!

      Teddy Stoyanova you have neatly summed up Mr Cleaver's great skill of simplifying and make everything concise enough to retain and yet sufficiently in depth to delve!

    I think it's time they open the 'Marcus Cleaver' no nonsense law school, we would all graduate in 5 months with top grades haha. You are so amazing!!! You have made exam revision bearable and so much easier than the complex way my lectures makes it. Thanks Marcus aka Sheldon! haha :)) xxx

    I hope that all good things come your way Marcus Cleaver. You are a man of great generosity, knowledge, and kindness simplifying the law in areas that some of us find difficult. EU law has not been kind to me so far, but I am going to keep watching your videos until it sinks in. Thank you, Marcus - you the man !

    Teaching is a skill. I wished more universities understood that. My lecturers have the knowledge but they don't have the skill required to relay that information to us in a way that we understand. You have that skill. Thank you.

    Are you able to explain more about the development of the concept of EU citizenship? I understand that Directive 2004/38 consolidated other legislation relating to free movement of persons but there seem to be so many cases that it's difficult to spot which CJEU judgement's had the most significant impacts on the development.

    This is great, thank you. Only critizism that I have is that for time to time I wasn't sure if you are talking about TFEU or some directive (slide at 5:41). And also it could be clearer to put the article on the slide when you are talking about it.

    • @foorack
      @foorack 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a difference in becoming a citizen and being granted permanent residence.

    • @lk-xk9fs
      @lk-xk9fs 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are a TCN (third country national) other rules will apply. But if you are a TCN and are a family member of a Union citizen you will pretty much have the same rights as them. You can find the definition of family in the Citizens Directive 2004/38 Article 2

    Hi Marcus - thanks so much for this video! I have a bit of a unique circumstance and was curious what your thoughts were. Here is the situation
    I'm a dual citizen (USA and Luxembourg) and currently live in the U.S. I have been inquiring with my employer about working remotely within an EU country. Would I be able to live in any EU country with Passport Luxembourg documentation? (Let's say I want to live in Hamburg, Germany and my work is remote/online in Amsterdam) I know you mentioned needing proof of work to register after 3 months - does this work/employment have to originate in the country of residence (Germany in my example)? Or can I simply prove that I have income from somewhere and the means to support myself?
    If the above situation isn't possible, I suppose I could get part-time work on the weekends, as you mentioned, to submit as proof of work. Then could continue working my other career job remotely during the week.

    This is good but is it mainly applied to EU national? What about Non-Eu Nationals and their right to free movement, are they covered? Also what about the spouse/children (Non-eu nationals)?

    • @marcuscleaver
      @marcuscleaver  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +simran naseer Art 45 only applies to nationals from countries with an agreement with the EU. I've been meaning to put an annotation into the video about family members. Will try tomorrow.

    • @simrannaseer
      @simrannaseer 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Please do. Although this was extremely helpful, but when applying it to scenarios it becomes difficult as you know a lot of the problem questions for this topic have individuals who are either EU Nationals, or Non-EU National's Spouse. Sometimes the EU national has dual Nationality and sometimes there is a child involved as well and then it definitely becomes difficult to grasp the topic but overall you have honestly made law so much more enjoyable for all the law students! your videos are very much appreciated. Thank You. Please do Parliamentary Supremacy as well if you can.
