Hi Bill! I just want you to know that you have been part of my childhood in discovering and learning to love science. Thank you so much. Bill Nye The Science Guyyyy
I love that Bill Nye is still doing this and what his career has evolved into. I grew up watching him on Almost Live, then exploring his "Bill Nye the Science Guy" episodes in school. Then eventually working on his bicycle as an adult in Seattle. What an absolute legend!
Bill Nye, what an incredible educator to so many of us who are still interested in science today because he made it so accessible to us as children. Neil Degrasse Tyson, the one who keeps us still interested as adults. This is historic.
Clicked immediately when I saw this. Despite my reservations about each of these guys im full of joy and incredibly giddy to see the two of them together
I was just wondering if Neil and Bill were actually friends the other day (silently to myself, I thought). I'd seen them guest star on Stargate and Big Bang Theory together, but who really knows. 🤷♂️ And then TH-cam throws this at me 2 days later. Wonderful to see that it looks like these two really do enjoy each other. I love them both. 🖖
Voices of reason like you two, amidst an anti-intellectual epidemic, who understand and platform scientific findings in the pre-text of secular humanism, are like a fresh glass of water.
Clearly you haven't been keeping up with some of these twos recent work. Both of them have stepped into discourse far outside their specialty yet still acted with this air of certainty.
@@Puzzlesocks To be honest, I haven’t been following Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye as closely lately, so I can’t fully speak to the specific examples you’re referencing. But I still think it’s important to recognize that even if they venture outside their specialties and sometimes appear overly confident, their approach still tends to be rooted in evidence and reason, which is more than can be said for most figures in public discourse -particularly those grounded in religious dogma or rigid ideological frameworks. At least they attempt to base their arguments on observable reality, even if they’re not perfect. That’s what I find refreshing. The alternative often involves far more assumptions and less accountability to factual findings. I also try to avoid falling into shallow, superfluous discourse on important topics which is something we see far too often on platforms like Joe Rogan’s podcast. He frequently gives a massive platform to pseudo-intellectuals who push narratives that suit their personal agendas, often without challenge or accountability, to an audience of millions. At least figures like Tyson and Nye encourage a baseline respect for the scientific process, even if they occasionally misstep. The alternative, where misinformation and unchecked opinions dominate critical conversations, is far more harmful.
I could listen to these two talk all day. I had the pleasure of seeing Bill Nye at my college campus for a talk, and he was as brilliant and engaging as he was on Science Guy. My classmates and I were all kids again that day
I turned forty this year. I grew up watching things like Eye Witness, Beakman's World, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Majic Schoolbus. This was an amazing thing to watch just to see.Such intelligent people who brought so much to the world together casually bullshitting

I was an 11 year-old 6th grader in 1969 when Apollo 11 landed on the Sea of Tranquility using SLIDE RULES, and grew up as a high-school student reading Isaac Asimov, Carl Sagan, and Arthur C. Clarke. Neil and Bill are our 21st-century cosmologists.
Hey guys... I hope our grandchildren and great grandchildren have a future in this world. From the lack of commitment to fight global warming to endless wars going on, and corrupt governments I believe the future looks very grim. I really enjoy watching Neil and Bill due to the very interesting topics, and the escape from the reality of this world.
Future generations will CURSE our Carbon Age. Dr. Hansen and Dr. Sagan warned Congress in the early and late 80s that if buiseness-as-usual continued burning fossil fuels and polluting our atmosphere with heat trapping CO2 and CH4, there would be irreversible and catastrophic climate consequences. Welcome to the Anthropocene epoch.
My son has had the pleasure of seeing Bill Nye speak live twice. Once when he was in High School and again when he was going to Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO. But it was his TV show that really lit that fire about science and to be inquisitive. So he jumped at the chance to see him live when he was a freshman in High School and again in College. He ended up getting a degree in Mechanical Engineering and then joined the US Navy, which he is currently serving as a LT. on the USS Carl Vinson. But before this deployment he is on, he served on the USS Pennsylvania, a nuclear powered ballistic submarine. He was trained on all aspects of the reactor and was one of the watch officers in charge of the chemistry and radiology of the reactor. Obviously not a knucklehead, but have to say that it was Bill Nye and his TV show that showed him how cool science could be. We used to watch those shows all the time! So thank you to Bill Nye for instilling into kids the love to exploration and science!
This was such an awesome video to listen to (at work or I’d be watching too) Please give us more of these! I know the two of you are super busy saving the world but please fill our spare time with your spare time, we need to hear more discussions like this, remind us how important science is and what the past great minds have thought

if you don't think there's life in the universe already something is wrong with you. the scientist of my childhood and the scientist of my adult life. I love it so much
There's nothing wrong with someone if they don't believe it. There's just no evidence so far. It's a reasonable hypothesis. But, no evidence to support it right now.
@@Rqs79I know we need evidence but if you go into chances and probability (and with billions and billions of galaxies), then there's definitely life out there. 100% with so many Earth-like planets discovered.
The probability for it is so high, it's embarrasing for folks to think it's impossible. I think some people just imagine when we say life, we mean a wide variety of life that we see on Earth. All we need is evidence that even microbial life existed at some time on another planet to know for a fact that life has existed out there somewhere. All it takes is ONE piece of evidence, in a sea of billions of planets.
@@tomaccino , I believe the probability is definitely higher than zero given the vastness of the universe and the presence of amino acids important to the formation of life found in meteorites floating in space. I just don't how high over zero the probability. If life is found in one of the oceanic moons on say, Europa, or past evidence of life found on Mars, that would be the greatest discovery ever.

As someone who is themselves kinda bored watching and has no idea what they’re really talking about, I think you should watch either way, but I’m not you and I can’t make you do stuff.
Have a nice day!
Awwww man. I know it's not recent but when they brought up Mr. Wizard i teared up and had a flashback to my childhood. RIP Mr. Wizard.
They're prepping for Round 2 with their rap battle against Newton 👏👏
@@theimaginativeweirdo4537 I want to see their reaction to it ngl
Oh, good! I'm not the only one that immediately thought about this 😅
There is something so inescapably captivating about hearing two uber-geeks discuss something they’re passionate about. Whether for food, comic books, or the mysteries of space exploration, I appreciate enthusiasm, and Neil and Bill are two of the best. Thank you both for continuing your work as ambassadors of the curiosity which propels us forward. /subscribed
You two are one of the reason as a kid why I loved science, specifically space. This is awesome to see you guys just talk. 😊
I already listened to this podcast, but I’m still going to watch it a few times in TH-cam just for the pictures of planets and moons. Plus I love listening to these guys!
I just read Contact by Carl Sagan and you can really feel his passion for Astronomy, Math and Sciences radiating off the pages. It’s cool to hear Bill Nye sharing early stories of the Astronomy and SETI movement.
So glad to know that my two childhood science teachers are one ok and two speaking to each other. Glad bill is doing ok.
First time back to Bill Nye in nearly 2 decades. This was both enlightening and refreshing. Two geniuses who are also great conversationalists.
I love Bill's enthusiastic run off at the end. The guy loves his sciences and the scientific aspirations of our community all love him!
Grew up with Bill and love seeing him pop up every now and then, such a treat.
great to see both of you together!
This was so much fun to listen to. Thank you, gentlemen, for educating and inspiring us 🙏🏾
StarTalk is easily one of the best talk shows on Earth and should be recognised as such by governments. It should be a common and recurring thing for millions and millions of people worldwide!
This needs to be a regular series or at least more than just this episode
This is one of the best episodes ever! Here are 2 guys who are passionate about science but not just, they're excited! about it! I love how Bill boes off at the end :)) Love you guys!
Hi Bill! I just want you to know that you have been part of my childhood in discovering and learning to love science. Thank you so much.
Bill Nye The Science Guyyyy
Yes! You guys are always fun to watch individually, but together you're fire.
I love that Bill Nye is still doing this and what his career has evolved into. I grew up watching him on Almost Live, then exploring his "Bill Nye the Science Guy" episodes in school. Then eventually working on his bicycle as an adult in Seattle. What an absolute legend!
Two best science communicators on the planet (ok in English) together. Could not be better.
Bill Nye, what an incredible educator to so many of us who are still interested in science today because he made it so accessible to us as children. Neil Degrasse Tyson, the one who keeps us still interested as adults. This is historic.
Oh baby Bill's on the talk! I'd love to see him consistently even once a year have a chat, you two are so influential to the world of science.
Dude those are probably the 2 most coolest guys nowadays. Such a nice duo.
Clicked immediately when I saw this. Despite my reservations about each of these guys im full of joy and incredibly giddy to see the two of them together
Just love watching you two talk about stuff. We need more creative and scientific wonders with you together! ♥️✌🏻
1:19 🎵Bill nye the science guy.🎵
BILL! BILL! BILL! BILL!
😂😂😂
My classmates and I were all kids again that day
I was grinning this entire video, Excellent stuff Neil and Bill!
fantastic conversation
0:20 that bow tie ❤
I wore them once-upon-a-time in my bow tying days.
😍😍😍😍😍😍
The only thing this is missing is a blunt between the two of them 😂
I was 12 and still was invested in the Bill Nye show. Loved when I could catch it.
Just didn't have anyone to talk about it with. 😢
I love these guys! Never stop!
I turned forty this year. I grew up watching things like Eye Witness, Beakman's World, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Majic Schoolbus. This was an amazing thing to watch just to see.Such intelligent people who brought so much to the world together casually bullshitting
Magic Schoolbus was such a banger, I thought all cartoons would be of similar quality when I was young. I was very wrong and very disappointed.
They got you trained lol
One of my favorite science teachers in middle school introduced the class to Bill and his content. Bill is a reason why I ❤ science. I appreciate everything and thank you.
If there's ever a time for a nerd out, this is it!
One Zentnerd here. So Yes
Bill, Neil and Hank Green would be the greatest science video of our generation.
Amazing conversation, thanks to you both for all that you do to humble humanity
I was an 11 year-old 6th grader in 1969 when Apollo 11 landed on the Sea of Tranquility using SLIDE RULES, and grew up as a high-school student reading Isaac Asimov, Carl Sagan, and Arthur C. Clarke. Neil and Bill are our 21st-century cosmologists.
And our modern smartphones have the same processing power as the computers on that spacecraft. It's absolutely mindblowing. 🥰
Edit: Corrected myself.
You sound like you'd get along great with my dad you just described his childhood 😂👍
In high school, we were told our graphing calculators had more power than the launch computers.
I can still hear the theme song in my head for Bill's science show in the 80's - 90's ?
Bill Bill Bill Bill
We Need More Neil And Bill
AMAZING EPISODE!
Oh my goodness, I've waited my whole life for this collab. Ive been watching Bill Nye since the 3rd grade. ❤
Wow, was not expecting this gem of an interview.
So Space is a Cartoon ! NARRATED BY TWO MORONS.
This was such a fun show! Do it again! 😁
This was such an awesome video to listen to (at work or I’d be watching too)
Please give us more of these! I know the two of you are super busy saving the world but please fill our spare time with your spare time, we need to hear more discussions like this, remind us how important science is and what the past great minds have thought
"When you out-geek Neil; you're geeking pretty hard" is hilarious to me as a ketamine addict
Love to hear from both of you! And now together!!! Gimme more!
Can you both meet my 7 year old son? You will be the Carl Sagan equivalent to inspiring him. Thank you both for sharing your love of knowledge. It’s contagious and you make my job easier as a mom when my children want to learn. Thank you. My son is a member of the society! He looks forward to every envelope
Who's Carol Sagan?
@ oops gotta fix that. Thanks for pointing it out
35:50 ive always wondered how he did that calculation.
There's something so comforting about Bill's voice. ❤
I loved this, and honestly shocked I didn't know about this podcast.
Neil is also goated.
I might have to re read one of his books
I have to pick Dr Tyson's brain. The man is brilliant. I watch Dr Tyson all the time on Star Talk.
Yet he can’t define “woman!”
@@revolvermaster4939 Like you can lol. A person can generally tell by comments such as yours just how ignorant the poster really is.
@@revolvermaster4939 And "woman" isn't a part of a binary parameter.
@@revolvermaster4939 whats your definition of "woman?"

Every time I smoke one. I end up watching both of these guys. I’m so interested. Dream occupation
if you don't think there's life in the universe already something is wrong with you. the scientist of my childhood and the scientist of my adult life.
Literally watched an episode of Stargate Atlantis last night and these two had a guest appearance at a conference. And now here they are talking about space! The universe manifests!
Man I’m 26 now but during elementary school as a kid Bill Nye was my childhood anytime we saw the TV rolling in for science class you knew a 10/10 Bill Nye episode was about to go down!
I've been waiting ever since I saw the post on The Planetary Society app!! Gonna be a great show
