    Excelent description about the relation of fridge cosumption and power batteries needed. Thank You, very much!

    Finally! I found a video that actually shows the size of cooler that my creamer and my almond milk carton will fit in! I keep measuring the coolers but everything seem too big or too small. No one ever showed food actually in them. Thank you so much! And your explanation for the wattage was understandable and clear. While I think this size cooler is what I would use, I’m not sure if I want to dump the money into all the solar panels along with my power source that I would need to run it effectively. It’s a big investment. I knew I didn’t want a big cooler and this was a perfect presentation that showed exactly what I was wanting to know. Thank you!

      Thank you! I had the same problem. I see dimensions online but it helps to actually see what can fit inside.

    It’s so true.. The temperatures play into power consumption... power production vs consumption. I’m finding a Jackery 500 isn’t enough power. Your 3x rule is a great idea ...

    • @JayWandersOut
      @JayWandersOut  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I like to be careful so I don't wind up with a fridge full of warm food that I would have to throw away. It's kind of a trade off with the temperature and the amount of solar you can generate. Winter months use less power but the sun is always low and weak but in the summer it runs more but there is an abundant amount of sun.

    I just bought this because of your review. You are a fantastic teacher the way you break down information where we can understand!! I have an Anker 521 portable power station 256Wh. Would that be enough or should I buy a bigger one

    • @JayWandersOut
      @JayWandersOut  ปีที่แล้ว

      I find it uses 200-250Wh a day so you would drain your battery each day. If it's colder it uses less power and if you buy frozen veggies or fruits to help it out it'll use less power. You should go for a bigger battery system though because you won't get good sun every day. My car has probably 800Wh now of usable power so I can go 3 days with no sun. You should always account for less sun some days or winding up somewhere so many trees tou get no sun. I'd say minimum 500Wh since you don't want that food to go bad if it shuts down.

    I run an alpicool 54 for camping and rotate 2 jackery 240s so one is in use and one on the solar panel and actually have a third 240 for charging cell phones / fan for heater buddy or just a back up and works great for me. Great video thank you

      Lots of juggling! My fridge is still working well and I'm glad I got it. I've seen videos of people who use a cooler or nothing at all but a real fridge gives you so many more options with food. It's pretty nice.

    I have had the same fridge for over two years, but mostly use it for traveling, plugged into the 12V port in the back of an SUV. I don't have my vehicle set up for solar or auxiliary batteries yet. The only issue I have had is the plastic face over the control panel popped off and had to be taped back in place. Probably should have warrantied it right away. I think it is an awesome fridge for the money. It does seem fragile, but I am ok with that. Half of the time I use the fridge I am off-road so it is bouncing around pretty good.

    You should put some bubble wrap under this fridge to undock the compressor from the ground and to reduce vibration. i like this fridge, but it has out of the box no kind of feet under the bottom. You should add something under it to reduce noise and to avoid scratches at the bottom.

    Looks like a great little cooling unit. I enjoyed your Eady going way of reviewing this product. One question comes to mind- how long is the DC power cord? I hope it's more than a few feet.Thanks again,Jay.

    • @JayWandersOut
      @JayWandersOut  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it's about 3 feet for the 12V chord.

    Thanks for the review! I know in the video you said you don't normally use the ice tray, but have you tried it? If so, does it still freeze ice cubes if you're just using it as a fridge?

    • @JayWandersOut
      @JayWandersOut  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I bought some of those plastic tubes filled with juice and shoved 3 in there. Took 3 days for some to freeze! I had the fridge at 35 but I think if I lowered it to 32 it could work better. The problem is even at 35 I've found frost on an item on the bottom so I don't want to go too low. I still would never use it for ice cubes unless I knew I wasn't going anywhere for 3 days minimum. I'm happy with keeping the flavor ice bags in there though and eating one now and then.

    Lol. People think that eating vegetable is eating healthy. Eating healthy is eliminating that creamer. The milk from cows fed with bad grains. On the other hand thank you so much fir this video it answered all of my questions. You are awesome 👏

    I have a small budget. I just bought the 23 quart . My thinking is I will only use the Alpicool to freeze bottles of saltwater to put in my cooler that I have insulated. Would adding more insulation to the out side of the alpicool help that water freeze a bit faster ?

    • @JayWandersOut
      @JayWandersOut  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adding insulation may help but it'll be hard freezing salt water since it has a lower freezing point than just water. Insulation definitely never hurts but it makes it bigger as well. Up to you though. The really cold parts are on the bottom so if you lay your bottles along the bottom and fill above it with random things it may freeze better. Not too sure.

    Cool review 😉👍 Good job at explaining using the car battery with this, never heard it put that way before. It's still on my wish list, although they don't ship to CA so I'd have to figure out another way. Looks like the model you have is no longer available, at least on Amazon.

    • @JayWandersOut
      @JayWandersOut  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the 22L is in and out of stock constantly. Not sure why that model in particular. It's been working well though. I'm sure this thing contains chemicals that CA thinks causes cancer just like everything these days.

    • @JayWandersOut
      @JayWandersOut  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can set the temperature to below freezing but then everything on the bottom would freeze. That would take a lot more power though. There is a tiny compartment where I put those Flavor-Ice tubes and they freeze after a long time, not the nest for freezing though.

    Hello, thank you for the review. I have a a question: does these Alpicool models maintain meat frozen? I need it for weekly trips of 4-5 hours where I have to transport meat for my dog. Does this Alpicool really arrive to -4 F (-20 C)? Thanks
