Don't freak out, but our planet is part of a three-body problem. 😳

This short is the equivalent of jizzing on the face of science and physics.

@@ZomboidMania because a chaotic system is not the same as an unpredictable system.
Three gravitational bodies are a chaotic system which means it's less likely to have any stable equilibriums and a very small change in the starting condition will translate to a huge change in the later positions.
The earth, moon and sun are a three body system, yes it has instability,
"The moon moves away a few centimetres from earth every year"
But saying scientists can't predict what will happen is just complete bulshit.
The original concept in the novel was that the "problem" in the three body problem referred to the fact that in a trinary star system the weather on a planet in orbit will be very chaotic, and there will be very extreme seasonal changes that are non-periodic.
This is not ideal for life, that is why the aliens wanted to capture earth as it's new home.

@@pratikkawade4861I read the book too, and the real reason was that the aliens could not predict if their planet would be destroyed faster than they could escape to a new one. It had nothing to do with wanting a better place to live, and everything to do with fearing for the destruction of the species due to living in an unpredictable system.z

@@pratikkawade4861 Unpredictability is an apt simplification of Chaos theory. The worst way to explain it is randomness when one actually means unpredictability.

If all moons and planets are taken into account we have a 200 boday provlem in the solar system

I thought the 3 body problem was between the earth sun and Jupiter

Netflix must add this kind of explanation, as I have left this series as it's has unrelated and fly off too much into different releams

3 bodies moving through time as well as space at different speeds doesn't sound like a hard math problem. Maybe I'll watch the show to see what the fuss is about.

@@thegreenxeno9430 The math is simple what hard is physics. This's a chaotic system much like a double pendulum behaves wildly unpredictable.
