Thanks, Phil. I subbed to your channel. I now have the new windshield installed and no leaks so far!

So glad you made this video. I need to do the exact thing and the quote to get it removed is jaw dropping. What is more Jaw dropping is the cost of replacing a dropped windshield which was the source of a ton of anxiety. Rust in pitted metal is best mitigated with chemicals. I never have had a problem when using ospho rust treatment. Vinegar will accomplish the same thing if you have the time to wait.

Nice video. Hope all end well. Missed the next time video about the replacement though. My 2000 sprinter van needs a new windshield also but I’m kind of afraid about the rust I’m gonna find 🤔🤙🏼

Hey! Yeah it wasn't too bad repairing the rust. Just a lot of grinding, then applying phosphoric acid then 3 coats of rustlok primer (moisture cured polyurethane- similar to POR 15). I had a company come out and install the windshield for me. No problems since! I'm struggling to keep up with the footage. It takes so long to edit, and then I have so many concurrent projects going on in the van its hard to make a cohesive story out of it. Thanks for the comment! Good luck on your van. Right now I'm working on the rest of the body rust now. I've cut out some sections of the interior floor where there was rust between the subframe and the floor sheet metal. I'm addressing the rust and welding in new metal. It's kind of enjoyable to cut out all the rot!

@@stevevanpelt4475 thanks Steve ! I saw your rust attack. Lot of work. I did my sprinter on the outside lower part with raptor liner. Don’t have a video on youtube but on my insta there are some pictures. The raptor liner is great against rust, sand, wind, salt etc. Keep up the good work 🤙🏼

Thumbs up all the way from the tiny Island of Malta !! May I ask you -To remove the rubber seal of the windscreen, did you have to cut it and fix a new one or just pry it out and it can be reused (if still usable) ? - Thanks in advance
