Nice video, the first step should be to disconnect the "-" battery connection next to the gas pedal, it would not be a good sight to have an airbag go off while working.
Thank you for taking the time to leave the feedback, glad they are helping some people. If there’s ever anything you are missing or having trouble with let us know and we can add those things as well. I’ve torn apart the van more times than I care to admit now 😅!
Thanks for stopping by! Well TBH I was known for a good old “sally sells seashells down by the seashore” 5x fast back in the school yard back in the day.. So I was just waiting for my moment when that would be a useful skill 😅
Great informational video….i enjoy watching all your videos and channel. It’s like I’m watching a master class in van building. I know this was a shorter video but it was much needed!
Hey @OldExodus, really appreciate you dropping in the comment! Glad you are enjoying the content but more importantly glad you are finding it helpful!! Thanks again for the continued support
Hey thank you, we really appreciate it. Yeah you can go up behind the A-pillar trim and remove one of the foam headliner blocks if you still have them. There's those of space behind those.
Thanks again! Congrats on the first step! It’s a lot of work building out a van but so rewarding to see it come together. Also, it can be a little intimidating but if you do your research and break it down into manageable steps it’s not so bad. Our problem is making these videos slows it down SOO much so glad some people are getting use from them!
This (and the next related video) have been SUPER helpful in me doing the same (excluding reupholstering the headliner ;-)) to my standard roof. Super easy step by step. And being real with the fiddly parts. I get to use up spare thinsulate and spare kilmat, so just the cost of effort to get through the project (which in August in Texas is kinda pricey).
Excellent video. Just completed removal to do the 3n1 Siless. A couple things. The cosmetic foam is not cosmetic but actually part of the collision certification to protect your head in an accident. I was able to remove the headliner without removing the foam. Broke 2 of the 4 clips. :(
Hey @omjaye! Thanks for the comment and for the info on the foam, that's really great to know that information. Yeah those clips are a PITA!! It's really hard to get under the flange to pop them out without breaking off the head :(
Thanks for this video! It’s exactly what I was looking for as I prepare to start my DIY build on my 2024 Sprinter, so I appreciate the time and effort you put into this. I’ll be sure to disconnect the “-“ battery connection as suggested in the comment pinned to the top. Definitely would not want to have an airbag incident while I’m removing the headliner. A question for you (or others reading this who’ve removed the headliner) - Will the van be driveable when the headliner is removed? I’m wondering if disconnecting the couple of wires and removing the covers from the side airbags will trigger any codes and prevent operating the van?
Hey @StephenShostek! Really appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to comment! Glad the video was helpful! We drove our van for about 4 months without the headliner while we were finishing other projects with the dome light disconnected as well. You’ll want to at least support the side airbags by re-hooking them and using a fastener to hold them in place. Also if you want your interior lights to work in the van you’ll need to put your dome light back in and zip tie it up to the roof. But like we said before we drove without it and it just says “auto lamp function unavailable.”
Is there a secret to reinstalling the B-pillars and getting the seat belt adjusters to work? Mine are at the top of the adjustment and dont' seem to retract. The mechanism is pretty obscure as to how it works. I tried putting a pick in it to adjust it down and no luck.
Hey there! Yes, I always undo the quick disconnect ground in the compartment down by the gas pedal when working with airbags or factory connectors cause you never know what codes the components might throw too. Sorry it didn’t make it in this video it’s something we missed during editing, but you can see where I disconnect in the Seat Swivel Video on our channel if interested. Hope this helps!
@@mikeinmon4997 awesome, glad that it helped you out and thank you for the kind words we really appreciate it! Happy converting hope you have a good New Year!
This material is actually a 3-in-1 hybrid deadener, acoustic and thermal foam that’s lighter than 80mil butyl. The high roof is pretty loud and has a huge metal forehead so we wanted to put extra up here to quiet and cool things down. The tape is mostly carry over from the floor where you want to protect the edges of the mats so they don’t squeeze out and stick to your flooring underside since we had extra. It also makes a single foil layer over the whole surface.

Thank you. Also thanks for the suggestion! I’ll pin your comment for others info looking to do this as well!
I find your Sprinter install/removal videos the best and most complete in the shortest amount of time. Great work all around.

I think it's great that you start off with a list of the needed tools. That was extremely helpful.
Hey Brady. Thanks for the feedback and noted will continue to do this type of thing in future videos! Thanks for stopping by.
simply snake the safety seatbelt sliding it softly through the slot.
Impressive you got that in flawless

Nice quality video! Thank you!
Thanks for stopping by and letting us know we really appreciate it and glad it helped :) Good luck with your van plans!
Great video!! I’m trying to get an antenna wire from the center head console to the back. Can I do that without taking down the headliner?

fantastic. your video is the most detailed yet for the headliner
Thank you! We tired to make it detailed yet straight forward and quick!
Your videos are great. I am researching for my DIY build now.

Nice glad the video was helpful! Makes a big difference with both those things up behind there!
Thanks for the great video. Just what we were needing

Hey Eric, not that I remember. Let me give this a once over this evening and report back with any findings.
do you have a video for removing the rear headliner in a Sprinter? (A Crew Van headliner) Thk u
Unfortunately I don’t. My van is a cargo and didn’t come with that headliner installed.
Super videos
Thanks Billy glad they are helpful!
Did you turn the airbags off or unplug the battery?

Why so much sound deadening? What purpose the tape on the joints?

Videos are great, could lose the music when explaining tough, only y opinion
Yeah the later ones tone this down a lot. Was feedback from more than just you :)
