- today, i sat down, made banana muffins, & talked through the things that made my first year at oxford so...memorable (for better or for worse). second year has been the most incredible time so far, and i'm so glad that i have first year to look back on and be like 'wow i'm SO glad i ain't a fresher anymore!'
this is not meant to tell u what everyone at oxford experiences - i think it was just a unique combination of coincidences that made my year so interesting, and that's why i want to share!!

I'm so sorry that you had that really upsetting experience with one of your tutors; I know I found myself baffled on more than one occasion that tutors could be so critical beyond the scope of the work itself, while themselves knowing just how demanding and overwhelming the entire experience can already be! I'm glad that you seem to have maintained your sense of self and been able to [at least somewhat] detach your self-worth from the often obscene expectations of Oxford life, which is no small task when you are constantly immersed within them. For what it's worth, I found myself spending 3 years absolutely petrified by the concept of finals, due in large part to comments about them being such a 'step up' from mods or even tutorial work - but, when it actually came down to it, finals term proved by far the most relaxed of all my 3 years, because at long last you can get off the relentless treadmill of constantly trying to absorb and assimilate new material, and can instead simply focus on understanding and consolidating what you've already learnt. You're doing great, and I know you'll be just fine! 💕

@@kwok You got this!! 💪And honestly keeping doing the things you love as well as studying is one of the most helpful things to keep yourself healthy and make the whole process sustainable, so don't stress about that!
Wow, I'm currently a 4th year law student in Nigeria (in Nigeria its 5 years to study law at undergraduate level) and what you said about not attending classes in your first year completely resonated with me. I made the same mistake and I wish I hadn't. I really love the fact that you shared this and so many other real issues in your video for others to learn from. Thank you ❤
I think this is the most honest, touching and detailed review I have ever watched. SO many videos seem to touch so much on the good stuff (fresher's week and how it so compulsory to go for every social event, the partying, the going out to shop) and maybe just tiny stuff on work load like "OH the workload is a lot" and finish. However, I knew that couldn't be all to it, I mean, how compulsory is it to attend every single party at fresher's week...does it mean that if I don't go for parties I will never make friends....how stressful exactly is the workload. I also, I'm such a perfectionist, I can spend a week on a two days work.
However, in summary, this is such an honest and detailed and truthful review on how college actually is. I didn't even need to wait to see the tears shed before I could feel them and imagine them . I didn't need to wait to see the smiles before I could feel them and imagine.
I just want to say thank you for your honesty and detail.
The idea of baking muffins was really cool too and they looked delicious.
Definitely subscribing to this channel and I cannot wait to watch more videos from you.

But still, I can really echo your first year experience and when I am seeing your emails and tears i get the immediate sense of déjà vu of all that hard time. But happily to see you’ve gone through all of this.
Aww she is lovely! I love how she baking banana muffins that was so so aeshetic while she was talking about her time in Oxford! And since she dosent want to go out clubbing during the pandemic she instead takes it easy! I also heard that Oxford made a vaccine for the covid and I’m so so grateful!
tq for spilling the tea on the challenges u faced at oxford. I especially appreciate u sharing ur tutor’s rather nasty email. It was uncalled for, to be honest. It certainly shed some light on what other oxford youtubers only hinted at - the academic rigour within the thousand year old architecture and quads.
we dont know eachother, but somehow i feel so happy to see that no matter what obstacles you bumped into, you stil got your things done! I'm a third year law student in Spain, and recently i was also doubting myself, thinking that i had the impostor symdrome lol but i realised that that's just part of a law student. Anyways, i'm so glad i found your channel and it's so cool to see you open up and share your experience!

Hello! Thank you for your videos and the insight that you provide into law at Oxford. I fortunately have recieved an offer to study law at Oxford, starting this October (grades permitting) so I was wondering if could please give me advice about what I should do to prepare? Anything, whether it be books to read or just general tips/ mistake to avoid would be great. Having so much time available to myself now I really want to utilize it to the fullest. Thank you

HI KWOK I'M NOT EVEN SURE IF YOU CAN SEE THIS BUT... I'm graduating in 2023 and interested in applying to Oxford, but I don't know what to choose as my subject! I love too many to just choose one (I'm also considering liberal arts in the US). In the video you talk about never having studied law before but doing it at Oxford, what made you choose this subject and what did it feel like doing only one thing? Did you miss any of your old subjects?

I'm off to do HPol myself at Oxford (starting this year October) and found the interviews to be stressful but not world-ending. I went into my second and third interviews significantly calmer once I cried about the first one (not trying to scare you! just warning that the build-up of stress and relief or stress and frustration often makes people cry as a way of sorting through their emotions). I can't really give much more advice as I've heard that the social sciences/humanities process is VERY different to Law and languages but I hope this helped somewhat.

I’m sorry that you happened to have tutors whose teaching style wasn’t compatible with the way you wanted to learn in your first year. I hope you’ll get better tutors next time. The comments of the essays were harsh and terrible tbh. I’m a junior law lecturer myself and I wouldn’t give such dispiriting and demotivating comments to my undergrad students’ essays.
