This actually improved my aim All I did before was spamming right click cause I just suck at aiming (I basically play Genji like Reaper) Now my aim are better and can kill those supports easily
As a Genji main, these are definitely great drills to practice if your trying to improve, but one of the most important things is using his ultimate. I find the best way to practice this in the training range is as follows: go to the moving bots, hit them all with at least two shurikens ( this brings them down to one shot-able range using swift strike / one ult swing). This essentially makes it like you have a nano boost. Practicing this improves your ability to move to new targets, decreasing the amount of time it takes for you to get kills with your ult.
still incredibly stumped as to why this doesn't have more exposure. it's concise, professional, and very well edited. You speak very clearly, and keep it informative. Pretty helpful.
you, my good man, are a god. thank you, i did this only once and already seen the results. what's more important i finally saw what i was lacking. THANK YOU.
I love the enthusiasm in your videos! It makes getting better at this game much more relaxing. Could you maybe release a guide on how to use his ultimate properly though?
Regarding the combo you missed a very important mechanic that I've seen a surprising amount of genji players not realize. On genji's left click he doesn't shoot out the 3 shurikens in the same frame, they fly out on different frames in order to not all be stuck inside eachother obviously. This means if you do his combo too fast you're lessening your damage output by interrupting the rest of the shurikens from flying out. This can be seen in 2:46 if you look at the ammo counter. Obviously in direct encounters speed is key but as a flanker genji will often sneak up on enemies who aren't aware of his presence, hence you want as much damage as possible in those situations.
i normally tended to just warm up with just the last step where you use everything, but after trying this out for half an hour i noticed a surprising amount of improvement over my normal warm-up. gonna keep doing this from now on and see where it gets me.
Hello guys, I play a lot of genji around 4.2k and I have to say its a really decent guide to practice your aim. It is the purpose of this video aswell. However the shuriken shift shuriken melee is not the only combo you can do, and its not even the perfect in every situation. For example against mccree and ana you probably dont want to dash into melee range, because of the punishment you can get for it. So you should learn all the good combo pieces and build as you see fit: LMB->dash, RMB->dash, RMB->melee, RMB->deflect, dash->melee, dash->180 melee Also it's important to add that you should practice turning 180 all the time, it's very common to turn 180s
I know this is an older video but for the combo part I found a way to make it easier. instead of dashing through them and having to 180 (I was really struggling with the 180 part) you can double jump and dash towards their feet. it will still deal the 50 damage BUT it will put you right infront of their face instead of behind them making it so you don't have to 180 and you can just rightclick instantly to finish them off. this stuff still works, haven't been doing it for long but have definitely noticed some improvements.
I'm not a ultimately pro genji for myself but I can some advice to you. Utilize range with the dash reset once the blade is unsheathe, so if youre trying to initiate make sure your enemy is surprised and dont know your whereabout, so I go like, Dash, doublejump-Q (at this moment you have to know your next move, with this 1 sec unsheath you have to know who you gonna kill first, I recommend support characters) Dash into supports, hit double jump (this is exceptional but I recommend this action to keep your element of surprise since your blade hit radius is pretty big and also to know what target next you should kill after succeed killing this support, you gain vision by jumping after the hit) -->hit --> dash, and so on, just keep yourself blinked all over the time, makesure your enemy dont know where you are because youre always dashing. If you play DotA, just do like Jugg's Omnislash, I know its pretty confusing when you tried to apply jugg omnislash to this but its pretty much effective.
I play ALOT of Genji, and I find that I like to shuriken into dash into 180 MELEE, than shuriken it feel like it flows better and it's more reliable way to guarantee damange
I am a genji main, and i have seen a lot le genjis out there who spam second fire for close targets, biut for me the primary fire is the best atack at short range as it is for long range, this will also improve your aim a lot
This really helped now i know my best sensitivity for genji, my aim is way better and i can perform combo's way easier than before. Thanks for the guide its really helped
Since my FPS is so low I just stay in the practice range and do drills all day. The game shuts down a lot from me being there too long hahah (like 2 hours)
Hey man, I wanted to second/third/etc the requests for a video on how to get better at his ult too! Great video -- I'll be sure to try these out during my downtime in between studying.
One of the most important drills that you should have included is jumping around and tracking a very close enemy (the friendly bot above in training is good for this). You will be doing this a lot in real matches so it's an important mechanic to master.
its impossible to kill all 4 (if they are all full hp), because of the ult nerf to 6 secs, trust me ive tried. The closest i got was 3 down and last bot was 1 hit away though ult expired
Another amazing tutorial guide! Is there any specific way you guys recommend timing yourself during these drills other than setting a timer on your phone?
Can we have one for dragon blade? I'm struggling really bad with it and it's not as easy at seems when watching others do it. Also all your videos are really helpful and helped me a lot with the heroes I play. Thank you so much for your effort!
Frost Byte ult with your team, don't rush in by your self. Another idea is to have your team distract the enemy so you can ult. Ps: also combo with your team
Pop ult on a bunch of squishies with little cc. If you can't then combo with team or get them when they're distracted. If you ult solo, chances are it'll be a waste and no help (you will probably die too).
Frost Byte hey, you have to ult, wenn your team is focused, because they can't cordinate as fast as you killed them, always make double jump and then swift strike in the air to get an overview, try to kill mercy first and don't spend much time at a lucio who is wall riding, try to get the most hits at all, your teamm8s are giving them the rest :D I hope it was helpful
USE IT when your team is pushing and it's important that you don't ult when you are 1v6. It's also good to dash into the air look down to see where everyone is and go for the smaller heroes such as healers and just dps players, don't go for tanks.
combo is wrong because u need to shift then melee. The reason that you melee is because u can turn 180 degrees while in melee. after the melee it is ofc right mouse button.
Wtf, is this actually right? can someone link me to some proof? Why do you have to melee right after dash? Meleeing doesn't let you turn earlier at all, stop spreading false info for fucks sake.
seriously, go test this out for yourself. you can turn .2s after you shift. then you can follow that up with a melee. you can turn earlier. you can't perform melee earlier.
Another great drills video! Keep it up! I tried it, however I seem to have a problem turning or jumping after using swift strike. I do my usual movement to turn 180° but it doesn't register my whole mouse mouvement and I end up only turning a bit at the end. Is there a something like a time frame where you can't input any command?
Well, there is no such block in OW itself, never experienced something like that. There may be three issues that comes to mind: your mouse's report rate is low and it is unable to relay such quick movements (adjust in the mouse's own software usually) OR there is dirt in the sensor / on the mousepad and it fails to register the movement OR you lift up the mouse while doing the 180 and the sensor does not see the movement.
Hello ! I wondered if you had any clue about this : I focus on training tracking to improve this kind of aiming faster. Is it counter-productive to train and flicking and tracking in same time ? Is it really way faster to focus on only one type of aiming ? Thanks you !

It's not weird at all. Plenty of quake pros had different senses for different weapons and even in Overwatch you have people like Nanohana and Pine who use different senses for different characters. Also don't forget that every single widow player with less than 38 scoped sens basically also has a different sens for widow. The human body and brain are not stupid you can teach them to learn multiple things, it just takes longer.

Shad R. Sometimes it's better to not get all three shurikens out on a left click, because it gives you an extra right click at the end of the "clip"
