My first time with you on your video. I am a beginner too for this pattern. I’m not so lucky, I can’t even do the gauge correctly. The start of your video blew my mind away. I live in Canada and our winters are harsh and very long. Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching! I will do another video on the ranunculus soon so you can see how different gauges work with this sweater. Just some examples 😃. Also oh, yes, the power was out for 4 days when this snow storm hit. It was not fun for a city that isn't accustomed to snow. Wow I bet you can get a foot of snow or more and do just fine! This was just a a few inches hahah
Hopefully a tip for the future: sticky yarns (like alpaca and other animal fibers) slide better on metal needles while smooth yarns like plant fiber types and acrylic hold better on wood needles
You're brave to start this sweater 😅 I'm experienced knitter and had a lot of times trouble with finding out what was going on 🤣 a little tip to your next knit is to have the right needle size in the right hand and a number or two down in the left hand. It makes the loops go easy over the needle. Hope it helps 🥰 So if your pattern calls for 6 mm needle, you pick a 6 mm for your right hand and a 4 mm or 5 mm for your left hand.
I'm a beginning knitter as well. I'm in the middle of my first socks and a sweater/poncho with only one sleeve. Hats off to you for picking such an ambitious project.
I am an experienced knitter, but I must admit this sweater has several fiddly features. I am on row 5 of the yoke, and I honestly don't even know how it's going to turn out. Congratulations on doing this as a beginner! And your dog is beautiful.
Thank you! I can say that you are 100% right. SO MANY FIDDLY FEATURES. I had a moment where I thought, am I even doing this right. Luckily it all worked out :).
Since you have interchangeable needles put a smaller needle on the left tip. That needle is just a holder and does not interfere with gauge. I do that all the time, just remember to put the correct needle back on for back and forth like short row back etc
